There is no special Piranha version of this valve that AKA sells, just one designed for Spyder markers. But the valve on the Spyder, like the barrel, is interchangable with the Piranha. And that is a very wonderful thing, since this is one of the highest quality valves to use on your marker.
The design of this valve is pretty straight forward. The hole in the front where the air slips under the cupseal is larger than the front hole in the turbo valve, allowing for more airflow. Unlike the turbo valve which scatters the air in 4 directions (where air flows through the three main holes around the valve body and through the gaps in the pin to reach the hammer) the Tornado valve directs air in 2 directions; air flows directly into the bolt through a single hole in the top, and 4 small holes in the back of the valve feed air to the hammer for the recocking action. There are no slits on the valve pin for air to escape through to the hammer like on the turbo valve. I don't know why the turbo valve has 3 holes around the main body instead of just one; that was a pretty stupid design if you ask me. I know that all the air around the valve body eventually escapes into that single hole above the valve where it enters the bolt anyways, but I believe the turbo valve loses its efficiency when it blasts air in multiple directions before hand.
This valve was the last addition to my Pro TS G3 Piranha, after upgrading the bolt, regulator, and even the hammer to the parts listed in my marker setup. Originally I was using a turbo valve w/ the high flow pin valve and cupseal from RJ Skateworks, which allowed my gun to opperate at about 310psi.
Using the high velocity spring from the Chameleon spring kit, I was able to achieve a pressure of about 245psi with the AKA Tornado Valve before the gun started burping. At the moment I have my gun set at 275psi with the velocity at about 280bps.
A fast recharging reg is a must with any low pressure valve, especially this one. The PMI Regulator just won't cut it, since the gun will drive you mad when you start burping after trying to shoot more than 6bps. I recommend getting a Palmer Stabilizer, or even a Palmer Fatty if you plan on staying low pressure with your Piranha like me. You need a low pressure regulator with this valve anyway, since you can't run over 400psi with it unless you want to risk breaking the cupseal on the valve.
The only other valve that competes with this valve is the Maddman Rocket Valve. The Maddman Rocket Valve costs half as much as the Tornado Valve, about $30, and works almost as well. However, you have to do some tinkering to get the Rocket valve to work right. The AKA Valve doesn't require any tinkering and is a bit more efficient.
The description of this valve on this page claims that this valve can operate at 150psi. HA! Don't count on it, we're talking about blowbacks here. With a lot of tinkering, the best anyone has gotten is 210psi on a Spyder. Even at 210psi though, the gun has a super low velocity. If you want to shoot above 280bps, keep your Piranha set above 275psi.
AKA has been known to make some high quality stuff, and the Tornado Valve is no exception. The only thing I have to complain about is the price. $65 is a lot to spend on a valve. But since I am only going to grade purely on the quality of the product, I give it a 10. But if price were an issue, for the price/quality ratio I think the Maddman valve wins. This is the top of the line valve though. If you have the money and want the best, go for it!
