Review:
After ordering my body kit direct from Deadlywind, I recieved it a week later and installed it. Installation of the body sleeve was quite simple, since it's exactly the same as working with the stock body. I ordered the regulator cover with mine, and it fits quite snug to the regulator, using a set screw to hold it in place. During installation I forgot to put the plastic washer on the screw, and as a result it doesn't screw on tight enough, and slipped & scratched the regular in a near complete circle when I tried to make sure the reg. and cover were both on tight. No big deal though, its the cheap stock reg. and by no means visible with the cover installed.
Once I put the plastic washer on it fit snug as can be, feeling almost as if the cover was part of the reg. itself. Overall I am satisfied with the fit of both the body and cover... seamless would be one word to descibe that fit.
As for the looks of the product, in my opinion it's a thing of beauty. The carbon fiber sleeve and aluminum outer shell mesh perfectly. I greatly prefer the looks and feel of the carbon fiber reg. cover over the stock rubber sleeve. I also like the fact that the body keeps the same "flow" of the stock body, with the aluminum outer shell resembling the rubber ribs on the old shell. I don't want to try and decieve people that this isn't an Ion... I'm proud of my marker, and wish to keep the Ion image at the foremost in my upgrades. I feel this body kit accomplishes both by keeping the overall Ion image, and making it look very unique and cool looking at the same time.
Conclusion:
Buy it! If this is the type of look you are going for, then by all means buy it! Deadlywind's service and support has been great, and pictures don't do justice to the look of the carbon fiber when it's on the gun. It adds a very striking & unique look to the Ion. Since nothing really warrants a 10 unless it performs some sort of miracle, I give this product a well deserved 9 of 10.
I know that the stock ion shell is made out of composite material, and I know that Carbon fiber is obviously a lighter material, but how much does it make a difference, including the CB cover?
and to buzzboy - I guess they are out of stock of blue ones cuz they dont list them on their site, or even mention a blue body kit.
