Upgrades:
It really depends in which direction you want to go: Electronic or Mechanical....

If you want to keep it Mechanical, and want it to "Keep-Up" with ANY electronic marker:

Dye or Planet Eclipse ".45" Double-Finger Swing Trigger w/ Shocktech "Roller" Sear, WGP MP-4 Ram, WGP "Tickler" LPR, WGP Worr-Blade Bolt, WGP Orracle Valve Assembly...OR...Planet Eclipse "Supercharger" Valve Assembly, WGP "Worr-Blade" Lock-Down Hammer Kit...OR...Planet Eclipse "Rex Dialer" Hammer Kit, WGP "Black Magic" Cocking Rod, Shocktech Spring Kit, Redz "Q-Lock" Clamping Feedneck.

If you want to turn it into a "Competition Killer" Electronic....just do the same thing that I did to my marker. I don't mean to sound conceited, but this thing shreds. Seriously.....I have been playing since I was 14 (born in 1975, you do the math), and I have even owned an Angel.....but this is the best marker that I have ever owned/played with. Autocockers have the WIDEST VARIETY/ASSORTMENT OF UPGRADES OVER ANY OTHER MARKER ON THE MARKET. PLUS....they are the easiest to field-strip and clean should you chop a ball in the chamber!!!!!
Strengths: Accurate, Durable, Quiet, Lightweight (Depending on the Upgrades), and Extremely Reliable.
Weaknesses: Lack of availability. These things have become VERY hard to find. Try Ebay.
Review: I had a WGP 2002 VF Autococker, but sold it in order to buy this beauty. The body is milled to be light-weight, and pleasing to the eye. WGP is known for their marker's accuracy and durability. I chose to use Planet Eclipse and WGP Products to upgrade my STO.....because (in my opinion) these companies are the best out there. I conducted months of research to ensure the compatibility of the components/upgrades that I intened to use, and it really paid off. Now, it could save you a lot of time. If you want to keep your STO mechanical, or turn it into an "Electronic Opponent Shredder"....then take my advice. If you have any questions about paintball (Markers, Loaders, Upgrades, Tactics, Drills, Excercise for speed, etc)....just send me an e-mail: AnrkystPaintball@Aol.com and put "Paintball Question" in the subject line.
Conclusion: The STO (Special Tournament Option) was originally created for the serious tournament player. However, the game has drastically changed. These markers have taken a back-seat to markers like Angels and Egos. If you are "Old School" like me....then you are a true fan of the all-mighty autococker. If you can find one, buy it!!!!! Ebay has them from time-to-time, and you can usually get them for under/around $300. Be carefull though,.....especially for the ones that have been drilled for the E1/E2, but do not include th E1/E2 "System". This is usually a sign of im-proper drilling, and could result as a bad investment. Your best bet.....if you can find one.....go after the one(s) that haven't been modified for the E1/E2. That way, you have the option to upgrade it (if that's your intention), at a later point. Also, you won't have to worry about whether or not it's been "modified" correctly. It doesn't matter what direction you head in, this marker will definitely take you all the way!!!!!
