Strengths:
Easy to use and see the dot
Bang for the buck
Weaknesses:
Does not come with clear blast covers
Review:
It only took me one game to realize that it is almost impossible to aim looking down the barrel. Lining up the rear and front sights in the heat of a battle is almost impossible, and once you get it its hard to keep them aligned. After looking into multiple scopes, the e-dot was way tp expensive and I didn't want a cheap open build red dot. After buying this scope, i knew i would never look down the barrel again. This scope fit right onto my 98C without the need for a sight rail, maybe its because i have a cylone but thats a huge plus either way. It is also very easy to use, just turn the rheostat (intensity adjuster) and go. It is also easy to dial in, screw the caps off the adjusters, and turn them with a flathead. Its also cool how each click adjusts the point of impact only 1/2" at i think its 100ft, great for precision. After trying it out at a local woodsball game, the scope worked like a champ, i got 9 kills with it, despite the fact that i was shooting blue streak. I now shoot x ball bronze and it is amazingly accurate. This red dot also has two other pluses in my book; it looks badass, and it can take a hit, i got shot on the lens and it didnt break it, although im not sure how long any scope could take that kind of abuse. I wish it had clear blast covers, but thats not a problem with me cause it is such a small target. Also, with the rheostat on 11, I can still see the dot in broad daylight, nice and clear, and i can even see it when i point it at my ceiling light in my room.
Conclusion:
Although i dont think that there is anything different about this scope from say, the BSA red dots, this is still a very good product, plus it was built for real guns so you know that it will be able to stand up to any abuse you can throw at it. This red dot would get a perfect 10 if it had a blast cover, so i must give it a 9.
I happened to be walking through Dick's Sporting Goods and noticed that, in their hunting section The Lodge, they have an assortment of flip up blast covers, where the cover itself has a large see through section. I have this scope on my A5 (love it, will write a review soon...). I think I'm going to pass by there at lunch time to see if I can find the right sized flip up, see through, cover for this scope. I'll update this comment when / if I find the right size.
Update:
I went back to Dick's Sporting Good's, "The Lodge" section and found this:
Butler Creek
04 Blizzard
1-5 - 1.59 inches
Scope Covers
All Weather
See Thru Protection
These scope covers fit like a glove and give my Tasco Red Dot a tricked out look. $16 for two of these.
