Review: When i first got the kit, I was surprised to find out that there were no instruction on how to install it. I was able to easily figure it out but if your not a technically literate person then you might have trouble with the installation. But if you have any questions on installation, the package does tell you to call SmartParts for help. It took me about a half an hour to get it installed and ready to test. I gassed up my ion and pulled the trigger just to make sure it worked before I shot paintballs out of it. To my surprise the NewDesigns Skeleton bolt I put in the gun from my old ion body didn't work for some reason. When the bolt flew forward it got stuck there and began to leak air out of the front of the chamber. I immidietly turned off my ASA to figure out what the problem was. When i went to push the bolt back manually (after it was de-gassed) the bolt wouldn't go back. I had to take off the back cap of the body to get the bolt back and eventually out of the gun. I took the whole gun apart looking for broken O-rings but found none and I wasn't sure what the problem was. So I put the stock bolt back in the gun to see if it would work with it instead, and the gun worked great with the stock bolt in. It was also working at an unusually low dwel setting of 25 (the one I had set for the skeleton bolt and QEV). I still have to call Smartparts and find out why my skeleton bolt wont work with it but I will update my review later to let you know.

Update:
I contacted SmartParts about the bolt problem and they simply said that bult just doesent work in the bolt out back body (i got no explination why). I also asked my local paintball shop why it doesent work but they also could not explain it.

I have noticed online all the questions about the feed neck The new body will take old ion Q-locks. The kit comes with a threaded ring that screws into the NXT threaded feendneck threads, and adapts older impulse threaded feed necks. Thats how I have my Q-lock screwed on.
Conclusion: I recommend the body kit to anyone with an ion. The kit helps you easily clean the gun without completely dismantaling it. If you dont have to touch the hoses on the inside of the gun then that means there is less of a chance of a leak.

new ion? Monday, April 28th, 2008 | 9:19 pm PST
nice review, my only question is, as you guessed it, about the feedneck. how much higher does this ring make the feedneck? i have a qlock as well and i like how low it is, just wondering if this makes it much higher, if any at all.

i will be getting the hollowpoint bolt for my gun tho, with the xe stalk, and a qev. so stoked:P

Not very much, It only raises it about 1/8" above the original feed neck threads.

Hi question. With the body kit conversion. Say I ordered the pink body kit. Can I change the color of the body kit? Like can I go to get like a warriors aluminum body kit for it that supports BOB?
