| Review: |
I've been playing paintball for over 10 years, and have used this site countless times to read reviews on pball gear. I've never really felt the need to add my 2cents for most items, as the existing reviews already stated my opinions pretty well. That, and the fact that most high end stuff ends up being the best quality. This case is quite different tho.
As stated, I've used nearly every JT mask ever made, a few nice Dyes. Never owned, but have used countless other pieces of junk masks from various manufactures. I can honestly say without hesitation that these Extreme Rage 20/20 masks are by far the best overall quality masks on the market.
I've owned 2-3 addon fans for JT masks. All of them ended up breaking after awhile, none of them performed as well as the 20/20, even when new. The JT fans would help with the occasional fog you still get on thermal lenses, but you couldn't really feel the air flow. Not only does the 20/20 fan clear up ALL fog IMMEDIATELY (even when its raining, something jt fans cant do), you can actually feel the air-flow! It's not a wind tunnel, but its enough to cool your face a bit, and clear away that sticky steamy feeling you get when breathing heavily inside your mask in hot weather.
The overall build quality is again, top of the market. Dye makes some pretty bullet proof masks, but they don't come with a fan, and cost 2x as much. They are also more complicated, bulky and heavy. Most all the JT masks have a serious problem with the side panels breaking off. This is not a problem with the 20/20. It's a very well built mask.
The only weakness, as stated, is the looks. As I said, it dont look particularly bad, its actually very nice and clean looking. Get a color that matches your gear, and it's pretty damn spiffy. I don't necessarily love the crazy looking stuff out there, but I do like the snazzy looks of some of the JT masks. Even tho its the best mask made, if it didnt look pretty cool, I wouldnt use it. And use it I do.
This mask does not get nearly enough attention. Infact, I've only seen a handfull of players using them, besides my friends who I referred (they all love them too). I now own 4 of these, and don't really see myself buying anything but these until someone comes out with a better quality, better looking mask with a high quality built-in fan.
Although price is not that much of a concern for me when it comes to quality paintball equipment (I've spent numerous thousands over the years), the price of this mask can not be ignored. It is less than half the price of top JT and Dye masks, and imo tops them all.
