| Review: |
I have used these pants twice so far, once when it was about freezing out and I was also wearing thermal underwear, and also when it got up to about 80 degrees F. Both days they were great. On the hot day, the venting mesh kept my legs very cool with the strong wind we had. I didn't notice circulation when running, but when I was idle and the wind was blowing, it sure did feel very nice.
The pants have a mesh lining down to just above the knee, probably to help with venting. There are mesh panels on the inseam and back of the knees that provide adequate venting.
There is a great amount of padding for the knees, this padding looks great too. In the crotch area, there is a padded flap that is secured with velcro and a snap that covers a zipper. This area does not have a ton of padding, it would help a little but I don't think much kinetic energy from the ball would really be stopped, and we know that's what really makes those unlucky shots hurt. So, I recommend that you wear some other form of protection such as sliders, a cup or towel, whatever works best for you. These pants do not provide enough protection by themselves.
There is also some molded neoprene foam above the butt area, this is to stabilize packs or something. I don't wear a large pack (I use a cheap 2x 100 round pod holder loaded with 2 50 round pods), so I have no idea how effective it is, but it looks cool.
At the bottom, there is a string that you can use to tighten the opening of the leg, this cord is secured with velcro. To adjust the waist size you pull two straps and secure them with velcro around the waist. The pants don't have any belt loops, I could see how a belt would be useful for items, but the adjusting belt could be used for hanging things directly off the side. The main pockets on the side are not incredibly deep, but good enough for a barrel condom or hands, etc. There are swab pockets on the side near the knee that are big enough for a folded swab, anything else would probably fall out.
The fabric is very tough, but can be stained by paint. The sublimated graphics on the upper thigh look cool, but can also be stained. |

| Conclusion: |
I recommend these pants, they look great, work great, have good padding, and are cheap now that the 09s are out. A great buy. |
