The rachet is aluminium which is the sole purpose of the upgrade, and the paddles work fine, the vented piston cyclinder also works great. Installation takes a while but its basically take out the old and replace with the new so its not very hard, just time consuming. I didn't realise there was an instruction video until several weeks after I'd installed it (I bought local so I never looked at the website). It's expensive, but that may just be my weak New Zealand dollar against the U.S. Conclusion: Mine worked great since day one, does what it should and what its advertised to do.
