| Review: |
I've now used this marker for countless boxes of paint, and couldn't be more satisfied. I've played in the bushes, on the speedball range, and all of my friends and I agree... this is one amazing marker.
I flipped back and forth between this marker and its little brother, the Invert Mini. A few key features put me over the edge:
-the easy on/off ASA is awesome
-roomier frame is better for anyone over 12 years old, a total improvement over the Mini; I'm 6'5" and I have lots of space for my hands.
-tool-less bolt removal is dead simple
-the trigger has no slop and is easy to pull (though not as nice as a G6R or GEO)
The build quality and design of this marker is on par with markers that are hundreds of dollars more. The fit and finish are superb!
The ball speed is very consistent, easily within 10fps during a burst of 3 shots.
The Axe is dead simple to lube and maintain. Only one repair in one heavy season's use: I had to replace the board (on warranty) because the on/off button got paint in it and stopped working. After a season's heavy use (think tens of thousands of paintballs) I haven't replaced an O-ring or anything else (save for the board) in the marker. Amazing. My friends can't say the same for their GEO's, ETEK's, G6R's and G3's; they are a lot more work to maintain and fix.
The stock barrel is okay; I upgraded with the 14" Nightstick by Empire and couldn't be happier with this combo. Totally upped the accuracy from decent to deadly.
It'd be nice if it had features like an LCD rather than just LED indicators, but I'm just being picky. |

| Conclusion: |
If you are weighing the options between a Mini and the Axe, the Axe is a better marker for a marginal price increase. The ASA and trigger alone make it worth it!
If you're looking at a Dye or a PE gun, do yourself a favour and check out the Axe first... you may just save yourself a few hundred bucks!
But you don't need to compare the Axe to other markers. It can stand alone as an amazing marker for an amazing price. |
