Review: I have been playing at Dark Armies for about 5 or 6 years. Mostly because it's closer to where I live than anywhere else. I've read these other reviews and understand, but it sounds like a lot of these guys have their panties twisted in a knot.

This field is on the expensive side. But they give you these coupons to come back every time you play. They hold an open game every month for like $5 per person. (you don't get any paint, the field fee plus a gun and gear) I attend almost every $5 session. Someone complained about not being able to use one, but you have to make a reservation. They though this idea was rediculous, but have you ever tried to get 5 or 10, let alone 30 people together to play ball?

The paint isn't as cheap obviously, but to adapt, it does make you more conservative with it. These are more like scenario games, not speedball. I go through 100-150 balls in a 2 hour game.

Personally, the employees didn't seem that bad. Maybe a lack of professionalism at times, but this is paintball! Disgruntled employees are common, or ones with mental problems...and the occasional hillbilly. I've seen a lot of bad employees come and go in 5 years. I can't say that some of them don't abuse their authority. The owner doesn't seem to be in it for love of the sport, and I have been witness to some questionable conduct towards customers. Your guess is as good as mine...I'd love his job.

The field used to be a little larger back in the day. I don't know why they changed it, but as far as indoor fields go, it is still pretty big. an acre and 2/3 is large inside compared to average 10 acres outdoors. REcently they've been updating it though, and building actual structures out there. They've been using 8X8 cargo crates. The floor gets slippery..there's nothing you can do about it. Someone suggested in another review that splatterzone had the right idea in putting dirt or sand on the ground, but I've played there and it's bad enough coming home in paintball juice, but mud too...nah. Sometimes it sucks though when you'd need ice skates to play. Like after a big game.

If they lowered their price they'd be awsome, but I don't find anything wrong with this field. It sounds like a lot of people on this forum like to have things done their way, but Dark Armies is strict about running it their way...I don't mind, but others do, and when they can't do it their way they get mad.

This place is so bad that even as you tried to defend them you were still putting them down. Their rules, price, condition, lighting and everything else about dark armies is a slap in the face to paintball.

Well, I have been playing since 1991 and have seen a lot of fields in MI, CA, IN, and GA. Dark armies is the worst of the lot.

Gun techs refusing to work on a marker because it's a Brass Eagle is inexcusable. (Not my gun, a kid's. I managed to get it running for him though)

Charging me to bring my own gun, making me return product without refund (my left-over paint at the end of the session), poor refs, hazardous playing conditions, inattentive staff, and very high prices all add up to make this a bad experience.

As I have said, I have played a lot of fields, and I cannot state strongly enough that my experience at DA was not due to knotted underwear. I have a lot of places to compare DA to, and they all surpass this field by a wide margin.
