Review: If you are planning on playing a tournament at Fox 4, don't. I was at the May 22nd tournament and I have to say that it was a pretty bad experience. The bounce/FPS ref was only wearing sunglasses even though he had some Invisions just resting on his head, was very rude (even called me a retard!) and apparently thinks checking for bounce is pulling the trigger very quickly. The fields set up for the tournament were also pretty bad. They were squares and were generally bad layouts. One of the fields used for the tournament had trees in the middle of it and it was a diamond shape! Half of the tourny refs are rude and the other half were ok. The prizes might be cool and there's a lot of teams, but I don't think it makes up for the rude staff, horrible fields and bad calls.

Hmmm... I wasn't there, but I have attended many of those tourneys and worked several of them. 98% of the guys seem to enjoy the venue.

The reffing was by Darkside and KAOS. Both teams are recognised as knowing the rules and they put on a pretty good tourney. I suspect you had an "alternative" sort of experience compared to most who attended. Wonder what you did to deserve that?

It's unfortunate that you took offence to the chrony judge not actually wearing his goggles, if that was the case, but IMHO attending nationals, I have seen judges do the same ONLY in a chrony area where ONLY the judge is allowed to uncover the barrel INSIDE the netted chrony area, and ONLY uncovered for the duration of chronying and testing for bounce. He's pretty experienced at that gig. That judge has been doing this for over a decade.

Granted... the fields aren't regulation five-man... but this isn't the NPPL here....

Curt and Dave run a pretty well oiled machine. Dye and PMI and Evil sponsor the prize packages. Not such a bad deal, really.

It's an enexpensive venue, kid... Whatta ya want? I can probablly get you some game if you need it.

ctan, dont be such a tool cuz you cant win. Gary Smith (the chrony ref) is probably one of the best out there. and he pulls the trigger quickly because thats how people shoot it in game. If you go out there and pull out your microscope to find your tigger's sweetspot, you got problems, quit paintball, i've played at fox4 for around 2 years now and i've never had a problem with them. Rob Darcy makes the best field set-ups you could possibly imagine. Those fields had solid lanes, a snake in all instances, and made it possible for you to make it to your bunkers. Field 3 (the tree and diamond field) was only "bad" as you describe it because they needed to make a field quickly so little b1tches like you dont complain about a long tourney and too much time between games.

freedman out...
