Atlas Paintball Park
Well, first I just have to say that I have played on almost every field within 50 miles of Edison, NJ and I only go to this one now. I remember when these guys were strictly a store in a trailer and now they have a full sized store, and a field to boot!
Let me get into detail here:
Ron - Owner and operator. This guy really knows how to treat customers and how to run this field and store. He's very friendly and works very hard at keeping everything in the best shape possible and at keeping it fun and fair for everyone.
Andrew - Great guy to talk to, especially about upgrading or buying new equipment. Very friendly, very knowledgeable.
Adam - Great ref! Actually enforces the rules and is concerned about player safety. For example, he will take your barrel away and give you a two-game time out if you a) take off your mask on the field, b) take off your barrel cover in the staging or safety areas more than once. One time I saw a kids mask fall off during a game and Adam did not hesitate to jump on the kid and cover his face and head until the mask was properly seated.
Jake - Another great ref. Very respectful and also just as concerned about safety as Adam. Knows how to ref and is good at it.
Carny (sue me if his name is spelled wrong) - Excellent gun tech for PBA. He knows what he's doing when it comes to fixing broken guns, modding them, and upgrading/downgrading them.
There are others that I don't know too well, but they are all very nice, and very respectful
While PBA only has one 7 vs 7 speedball field, it is an excellent field. The bunker layouts are changed EVERY week at least once. Even when it rains the field is still playable. They have installed lights for semi-night play (they are restricted to a certain hour to close due to noise of paintball guns near the houses behind them). They are expanding and will be opening more fields next year.
They primarily support HPA (3000PSI and 4500PSI) with self-fill equipment. Very easy to do and the system will actually stop filling your tank at the correct PSI so you can't kill yourself (unless you're stupid enough to use the 4500PSI line for a 3000PSI take and not pay attention..)
I just have to say that their proshop is AMAZING. They have an excellent stock of paintball guns, gun parts, accessories, etc. If they don't have it, they can surely get it within the week. Some high demand items seem to come and go, but they definitely do their best to keep things in stock. I think I've spent about $1000 on just equipment alone (not including my Ion bought from them). Anything you buy from the shop is under warranty and they will fix or upgrade for free if it was bought from them.
Paint prices vary from $35/case for whitebox paint, to $65/case for Marballizer and Evil paint. I prefer Xball Bronze, but they seem to not carry that much anymore. I use PMI Premium if they have no Xball paint.
Food and Drinks
PBA itself has no food/kitchen, but the local pizza shop delivers about 2 or 3 times daily, so most players get a pizza or two for the day. PBA does stock soda, Yoohoo, gatorade, water, etc. and have never actually ran out of anything.
They have a bathroom! Yes, they have one for public use unlike FBM and other fields. The bathroom is even kept clean.
I've played at many fields and no place can match PBA. For the price you pay, the fun you can have, and the great people you can meet and play with you can't go wrong at PBA. This is the ONLY place that I play, even though there are some other places with more fields, or even close to me.
Play here. You won't regret it.
