OK I've been reading the reviews for Hurricane recently and they almost kept me from going there today. The park is run fairly well still and like any other business there are issues that need to be addressed. I am not a fan of Chris or some of the people that work out there, but John the head ref is always level headed and makes fair decisions.
The prices are reasonable. I do however miss the BYOP, but the park needs to turn a profit or it won't be there, so its understandable.
Today numerous people were sat down for removing their masks on the field. I applaud the refs for being so strict on safety issues.
In short the problems with the field are not as bad as stated in some of these reviews before this one. There are issues, but the issues aren't as bad as some of the people that play there. The wiping, the cheating, shooting of dead players, shooting the refs, ...etc. What is wrong with you people?
Anyways.....on a scale of one to ten...compared to when chester ran it.........i would give chester a 7 and SAS a 5 the woodsball field needs alot of work.
Thank for the comments. I am sorry that you are not a 'fan', if there is something I can do to change that let me know and I will try.
John is certainly a great ref and we are addressing the safety issues. In the summer people tend to lift there mask more then in the winter because of fogging and sweat.
We do not like the fact that the park is a field paint only park, it was going to be a field paint only park regardless of who took it over. We are fighting to lower the rent so that it will benefit the players. For example did you know that the BMX track only pays $1 a year for the land and we pay over $60,000 a year?
I dont know if you are aware of it but seven months ago we did a lot of work to the woodsball area to include building new bunkers, painting all the bunkers and forts, and clearing out some of the trails. The woodsball area needs more work but we have been waiting, anything we do now will just end up destroyed during the hurricane season and most of the teams that have always helped us with the woodsball field arent willing to do much work during the summer. I am sure that as soon as the weather cools down you will see us all out working on the woodsball field.
