This is an overall excellent field. There are many different ways and styles to play on the fields. Normally I am a woods ball player, there is no way I can walk a tippy, but they joined up the two spool courses which made for a very large and interesting game. Just to tell of the flexibility they allowed the players to play a 8 on 30 game at the castle (The eight ended up winning). Also, to tell of the people that play there, I have multiple guns between my brother and I, and I can just leave them out in the open by the Speed ball fields and go play woods ball the entire day, come back and find absolutely nothing missing. The staff is fantastic and the people are great there too. Come try out this field if you really want to have fun and just relax while playing paintball, but I guess that paintball isn't that relaxing, just stress relieving!
My expectations were very high going out to Mad Cow Paintball. I had played all over the states, mostly in Florida and Texas where some of the most well known and established fields are. I hadn't played in over a year, due to an assignment in Korea, so I was really eager to play. Having been out of the paintball loop for a while I got to Mad Cow and realized I was missing some essential gear/tools, but that wasn't a problem, thier very friendly staff gave me what I needed and I was able to get everything in order. I had just moved, and some of my gear got misplaced or I let people borrow and never got it back.
The woodsball field is outstanding, and the other 2 fields I played on with huge spools that looked like they were used for really big wires or something was really fun as well. I haven't been to any other fields in the area, but in talking to some of the regulars, they perferred this field.
You can bring your own paint or buy thiers, the prices are very reasonable, and you can tell its fairly new. I enjoyed the "family-run" atmosphere, makes you feel a little more at home.
I'm a pretty seasoned paintball player of 4-5 years, but one of the biggest things I hate are paintball elitists, people or employees that will make you feel stupid for asking a random question or walking up to you and making arrogant comments about your gear/marker. None of that so far at Mad Cow.
As far as safety goes, nothing out of the ordinary there, there was some issues with a group that was out at the same time I was, not a big deal, most of them were first timers, and of course forgot about the plugs/cover/condom rules.
As per ref's, the one we had was good. Very informative, gave me some information about when most people come out, some of the scenario games/events, kept it simple, fun, etc.
As far as improvements that could be made...It would be nice to have an area to sit or relax or gear up between games and such that is shielded from the sun and weather. Alot of fields i've been to have a pavillion or some kind of shelter with tables and such where you can take a break or make marker adustments. It gets pretty hot in the afternoon, especially after sprinting around playing paintball, some shelter from the sun would be great.
Also, a little more organization in starting games and such. Most fields i've played at, the ref's go around telling everyone when game "sessions" will be starting and being held at. Such as, "We are doing a 2 hour session in the woodsball field, any players please head there or let me know so I can get a head count" etc...
I can't think of much else really, and thats mostly nitpicking.
I had a good time and bought a season pass, so I will definatly be coming back and bringing some friends.
cheers
