Review: Time for someone to actually post up a non-biased review of this place, so here it is.

I've been coming to tis field for a while now. It is EXCLUSIVELY the field i go to when I am bringing friends or family members who are new to the sport. It is absolutely great for that. The Rental Equipment is actually not bad, the fields are large, and they are either woods field or they have some pretty nice fields with purpose built plywood buildings and tanks and such. You can tell that they actually put alot of time into their fields. Most of the fields have netting around them, although even behind the netting they still make you wear your goggles. thats not really a big deal, you cant blame them for emphasizing safety.

Like I said, I come here when i'm bringing someone new to the sport. Because all of the players that go there pretty much suck, and all the ones that think they are good cheat. I've noticed over the 6+ years I've been going there that people have started to realize what I am saying, because in the time I've been going there, I have seen a steady and very significant decline in the number of players showing up with their own equipment. Me and my friends that play wont even go there, why shoot a bunch of N00bs with rental equipment?

I mean, the general feeling I get when I go there ( I have a Russian Legion Shocker and show up and wear my team jersey and s***, whatever gotta represent you know?)
But I feel like I am almost not welcome when I go there. The field is headed up by two Italian guys. One heavy guy with an annoying voice and another guy who I'm pretty sure is the owner. A while ago he seemed very hands on, but in the months (it might be longer than that, prob. like a year and a half or so) since the fatter guy started working there the guy I think is the owner has taken a more back seat role and it shows. There are all these annoying announcements over the PA. they push their cruddy Big game alot, and the fat guy doesnt even remotely care about walkons. I mean he has been downright rude to me on a number of occasions. I dont know if its because I have my own gun or because I'm not from westchester, but i've never gotten a bigger attitude from a guy when I was forking over $140 for two cases of paint (horrible paint I might add). perhaps if I was wearing a camo jumpsuit and playing with a Tippmann A-5 Imight get some manners...

The other guy has always been nice to me. he used to play with their field team but i think they disbanded. he has been a huge a**hole to some people though, but mostly when they deserve it.

To some of the refs that work there, I saw your posts, and you guys take alot of s*** at that place. I hope they pay you good because I know you guys never catch breaks... and you're there from 9:00 to what? 4:30 the earliest? I'd call the department of labor on those idiots that run the place.... but thats a whole nother thing.

Bottomline is this. If you are new to paintball or bringing a group of people who dont play regularly or dont have much experience, this is actually a great place to play. Competition isnt that great, rental equipment is ok.

But I'll say this. If you are a upper level player you probably dont want anything to do with that place. and its ok, because they dont want anything to do with you, either.
Its a crying shame too... because they have 2 decent tournament fields that could be put to good use if the people that ran it actually played paintball.

oh and one more thing to the refs. you cant even say you guys are all about safety, if you really, really emphasized safety, you wouldnt still be using barrel plugs. You might be the only field in the COUNTRY that doesnt require barrel condoms. Next time that fat guy at the counter yells at one of you just threaten to call their insurance company, i'm sure they'd love to hear that one...

Bottomline is that this isnt a field for real paintball players, because it isnt run by paintball players. Take the drive, go play at HiVi or Hogans, its worth it, its cheaper and the guys that run the show there (James and Nick, respectively) ACTUALLY PLAY PAINTBALL

And to the refs, you guys have more leverage than you think there, you should step up and use it...

I'm sure this will be disputed by somebody, but that's all the truth, and that's coming from someone who has been there countless times, for 6 years, and was just there this past weekend.

There's nothing refs can do about the barrel plug situation, although we are looking for a way to have a barrel condom fitted to the rental guns, without annoying the shooter. But that was a very well thought out, unbiased essay.

your a fool we do have good compitition there come play with some of the refs and our china men and then talk about compitition i'll admitt that the barrel plugs are a problem and we are trying to make it so every rental has a barrel condem. as for idiots that run the place no one is perfect we only have a certain amount of refs and we do our best and so does frank and we are currently in the middle of renovations that why pete (our boss) has not been doing alot with customers he has been more focused on getting the construction done FOR THE CUSTOMERS to make it more efficiant and i was there both days this weekend and i saw no one with a RL shocker were you in the walk on game cause there were very good games both days i dont know what you are talking about.

Some review. You should come by on a Sunday when Celio, Reggie, Sony, and John play. I'll bet they can show you and your friends some good competition. Just ask the desk if Celio is playing. If your as good as you say, we would love to play against you.

I dont want care what those fools can do on some wooded field or "western town." I know the guys you are talking about... they've been coming there for years... one of them used to have an automag with a towel covering it so he could cheat easier. and the other one used to have a model 98 (like everyone else that goes there) and now has a shocker and is still a big cheater.

I'm not bashing your field, guys, so dont take it too hard. Its a nice place, a very family friendly environment. but I don't care who goes to your field, if they went to HiVi or Hogans they'd get blaaaasted.

Where do I begin. First most of out players have their own guns. yes we have alot of new players, that just shows how we are growing. Many days we run two walk on games one for the hardcore players like yourself. As others have said, there are plenty of hard core players at our field. As far as us not caring for the walk on players, could you please give me an example? You players are the bread and butter of our field. We get you usually at least 10-12 games in a day, we stay open all year to accommodate you.I give you the best staff and the most staff to keep the game honest. are you telling me that no one cheats at those other fields? As far as the guy at the counter, my job is to sell the field and based on our numbers including repeat players ( which you obviously are), I seem to do a great job. When did you last play in our big game, have you tried it since we added some missions? Barrel plugs verse condoms, as some staff has said we are working on that. the big hold up is where do you hide a orange condom that is hanging from you gun as you are playing? Plugs are okay, if players listened to the warning of keeping the hands off the triggers. I don't know about you, but I value my eyesight and will not trust the netting around the fields. we put it there for cars, not the players. My referee's and I have an open dialog, and they really don't get sh..... from me. They work fairly and are taken care of. Finally, as far as the boss, not being hands on, he is, he makes the rules, answers every question put to him personally. He still plays Paintball most weekends, although he has given up the tournament scene. If you dislike us so badly then why are you still with us, please come see the fat guy at the counter. I appreciate your comments, but please share them directly with me as well, I can not fix what you claim to broken until I hear about it.

You're the fat old guy at the counter? well then I got some things to say to you.

1. saying that you split the walkons into 2 groups on most weekends is a blatant lie. you do it once a month MAYBE!! and you basicaly just ask those idiots in the purple van to shoot the hell out of newbs. why dont you have the n*tsack to go and tell those guys to lighten up? I personally dont care, but I hate watching them shoot some little kid into oblivion. The weekend I was there one of them made a kid cry on the western town field. MADE A KID CRY!

2. By saying you give us the best/most staff to keep the game honest, that's kinda sad. I've seen days where there are 150 players on the field and 4 (yes FOUR, to my fellow readers) referees. That's terrible. I've gone to other fields that have had 4 refs for 25 players. I know that we're all in this for the dollar, but come onnnn!!!

3. I never said anything about the refs being terrible. for the most part they do alright... I go other places and the reffing is worse. But I dont get on that many people's cases because they are high school and college kids, they dont really care and I dont blame them. Especially at your place, because I see how they are treated. You dont even let them stop for lunch. I've heard some of those poor kids walk out the door asking if they can grab a cheeseburger before the next game. That's ridiculous.

4. I don't dislike you so badly. htis is a review for paintball fields. I have reviewed other fields, go look. Your field is above par. I continue to go there because it is close, and like I said, the competition is down as compared to most fields so its a great place to bring new players when I have them with me. I would never bring my cousin or some of my friends to High Velocity, they'd get kiled and it wouldnt be fun.

You do run a decent field, I'll give you that, jus there are some things that ruffle my feathers, just like at every other field. Just I think that yours are very different than most other fields, so I speak openly about it. You my friend, are very rude. Your announcements are irritating, rambling and usually complete nonsense. I dont want to go to a paintball field where they basically beg for my business every 15 minutes.

and FYI, that's not just me...I've seen the little Westchester Moms of birthday party groups sit around and go "how annoying are all these announcements"

Str8ight Killa Tuesday, April 10th, 2007 | 5:12 pm PST
first off let me start by saying i work there and the boss treats all of us refs with respect and pays us well and the "fat Guy" by the way his name is frank and hes my dude. Frank does announcements to make other players aware of our upcoming events and handles the customers with respect so i dont know what u mean when u say hes a dick. as for the barrel comdoms we r working on a solution to attach a barrel comdom to a rental gun that will make it comfortable for the user during play. The owner Pete is very concerned about the customers thats y u dont see him alot he is always trying to improve the feild and building to make it a better exspierience for you. yes most of the players who play there are new but you got to strart somewhere... If u want to bring your team to practice when we r practicing and im sure u will be more than satisfied.

Alot of this is very true. I also go here all the time when im bringing friends. The rental equipment does do the job and people there are all basically new to the sport. If your some one who really does that this sport competitively don't come here. Im well equiped and every one thinks i have like the greatest equipment. All i wear are dye hybrid equipment and a 03 nightkast and every one wants me on their team. Also the barrel plugs should be dealt w/ and replaced with barrel condoms. There where time when i would help my friends out with their equipment and they would shoot off their gun and the barrel plug would go flying. There where many times where i would almost get hit. I would also see people all the time accidently shooting their gun and not knowing they have lost there barrel plug. Its also annoying that their barrel plugs are your arm bands and if you end up losing them u lose $5. Why not just use colored tape or some thing cheap. Also their paint is still very expensive. Even though their price has dropped down $20 which is $70 a case the paint is still very expensive. I can end up going to other fields and buy two cases for that price. For people who do take this sport very competitively i don't recommend this play. But it is fun if you are bringing friends that have never played this sport before. The fields are nice if you enjoy woods ball. For walk ons they don't bring you on the speedball fields which disappoints me.

Paint is $70 a case because our operation is much larger then a field like Champion or Ejams. We have more refs, larger fields, and more things that need maintenance.

NoelyDeezNutz Monday, April 16th, 2007 | 6:08 pm PST
i understand the need for the above avg. priced paint... Liberty is one of the largest fields in the northeast... (if going by the numbers toted on the site of 350 acres)
agreed that the announcements can get annoying... but hey, youre only in the staging area for a little bit...
want competition?... go play pump... not enough competition? play stock class... fixed...

If you take a step back and look at liberty compared to other fields... its not all that bad...
if you enjoy x-ball and nothing else, than OBVIOUSLY a 350acre outdoor field, isnt aimed at you... but if you enjoy PLAYING PAINTBALL... in any form... than this place is great...

i go to PBM in CT most of the time, simply because its 15 mins on i-95 for me... i go to EVERY liberty big game as well as a few walk on days when i have off and money...

ive played at:
liberty
PBM
Ejam
FBM
PBA
ABC
Atlas
Cousins (all of em in NY)
high velocity

and liberty, for the price and everything you get... is one of the best fields... hell, pbm charges $100 a case... for origin basic training...

take a step back when trying to dispute a review... sure there are problems, no field is perfect... (great field with basically free paint/entry/air, unlimited refs that slide and dive and paint check) so live with it...

*btw, i am NOT associated with ANY field... i am strictly a paintballer who lives this game every day...*

suckorduck : no offense but a 03 nightkast is not that nice, and the guns shoot of the barrel plugs thats becuse someone pulled the trigger. im not saying that im perfect or that anyones perfect becuse it does happen alot but in order to fire the gun you need to pull the trigger. put it on safety.

TheUnkown Friday, April 20th, 2007 | 7:58 pm PST
most of the rental guns don't have safety's. I always hear one of the refs asked how they put the safety on, and they usually reply, it's been disabled.

protoman912 Wednesday, April 25th, 2007 | 11:50 am PST
thats why we have barrel plugs

protoman912: i understand my gun isnt that great thats why i said what i said before. I was saying that this is a place for people new to this sport. Also this place does have safeties on their guns. They dont tell the customers if its enabled or not or how to tell them how to. It would really be a nice asset if they replaced their barrel plugs with condoms and just use tape instead of armbands due to the $5 deposit

Not true,We do not disable any safetys. They do break often, thats why the plugs are there, if everyone listened to our directions there would be no problems. I have said soon there will be condoms and tape real soon. See you Sunday May 6th for the big game.

So where do you play for $35/ case? I think they would be crazy, because we would not be open for that price. Where else do you get all we offer for these prices? you want Speed ball, then set up a private game, how should I run 100 or even 50 players through speed ball.most day i take small groups there on lunch, I only ask that you tip the referee. Do you ever notice the ongoing improvements like the new service area. Soon the train wreck field, or the plateau or Hamburger Hill are now reopened.

Thats bullsh*t. I've had heard those words come out of your mouth, and your refs mouths. It is not the first time you have lied to people online here. You treat your refs terrible, unlike the owner, you are terrible at making teams, you do not take into consideration player's skill and you have never played paintball a day in your life. You should leave decisions dealing with the games up t your refs because most of the guys who have been there for a while know what they are doing. I have been coming up for a while now and it seems like you are never taking charge of your responsibilities. I've heard Pete and other refs tell you to stay on the counter where you are supposed to. Let your older refs handle things, they all know what they are doing. Most of them are quick and efficient.
