Review: I was very angry with the business practice of this field.

My brother planned a trip here with my family and friends for my 30th birthday. Because he did the private game, we had our own field, refs and a very strict time limit of three hours.
Now I am not saying that they don't have the right to set limits on time but there were a lot of factors that went into me being angry at how they handled the situation.
First - We spent 30-45 minutes signing up. In no way should it have taken as long as it did but for some reason it did.

Second - When I mentioned the fact that it took us this long to register (as they were pulling us off the field) they said we were supposed to arrive 45 minutes early to register. If this is the case, why is it not listed on the web site on the private games page. What was even more aggravating was that we had just purchased another case of paint and they just told us use the rest of the case on the shooting range; the most ridiculously boring range I have ever seen.

Third - They did not offer the option to have us pay extra to play more

Fourth - The place as a whole was not busy at all. There were no more than two groups out there playing and all were on the fields when we came back to the club house. The refs had no dire emergency to get back to their duty as refs because there was nobody waiting to play, just us.

So, we paid for 3 hours, two of us rented the Ions markers, bought at least two cases of paint and lots of other items such as camo yet we were only allowed to play for a little less than two hours. Beyond spending the extra cash there, two of our rental guns were sent out with low air (co2) and one of the Ions was not working correctly - all situations that forced us back to the staging area to sort out.

PS - our refs were unable to assert themselves, except when they were getting us off the field. Perhaps it was due to their ages. But, this was the least of my concerns and they did their job to the best of their ability I suppose. I cannot fault them for that.

As for the fields, they were not bad but we only played on two so I have no idea what the rest of the park is like.
The lake, the stated favorite, was decent but it really required at least 10 people per side. We found that because you could attack the opponent by going around either side of the lake, one side would get totally bogged down leaving only the opposite route as a way to achieve victory. It was defiantly unique though.
The village was a bit lame although the bus and the main fort were nice aspects. What I didn't like, especially for the size of the field, as that they placed the two bases/forts within 150 feet of each other.

This is all I can tell you because we only had enough time to play 4 games - which lasted 2 hours - which cost us $42 each!

Believe me, I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I have been in the business world for many years and in particular, Customer Service. When I report on PB Review it is heavily focused on how well the field as a whole performs in respects to customer service. In many ways, a field is a field - a place where you can go and shoot up your friends with a paintball. Basically, you will have fun no matter what. What is important, above all else, is how customers are treated.
Is their business appreciated and respected?
My point with this review was that I don't feel we/it was.

Your post does not do much to disprove that.

Dispute:
All people who register for a private game are told that they can arrive early to register to save time, Every Captain, Thus is is whom ever registered that forgot to relay this to you,Not us.

Registration is done as fast as we can, People have questions, Need to make up there mind, And don't know what they want, We have all gear at hand, Thus the meddling of people and unorginization is what causes delay

You are a private game, There are other private games, And open game, We don't have unlimited refs, If you wanted to play more, You should have Reserved a longer time. Refs are booked a week in advance and are told there hours, They may have engagements that have been planned, So booking a 5 hour game would have saved the problem

We are not going to force you to play, Our job is to help you play and keep you safe, When you are ready to play, We go out with you. We wait for you, Because you are the customer

So, Your captain should have listened and arrived early, You buying in excess is not our fault. Its a paintball gun, Not a space ship, chances are things will break and go wrong, we will fix it for you

Ps- Why would we assert ourselves when YOU ARE THE CUSTOMER, We are not going to force you to play, You rented us, You tell us when you want to play, Blaming the refs for not playing is ridiculous, Its your job to tell us when you want to play

CASE IN POINT

It's called customer service.

There was a lack of it.

This was the point of my post.

Just like a return policy that should be on a receipt, you should have your policies on your web site for all prospective customers to read.

"space ship" - one of the guns was sent out with a less than half full tank. Its not rocket science to fill it up before the person plays.
Also, if we are paying the extra $30, on top of everything else, to use the better gun, shouldn't it be tested before it goes out?

But when you asked the refs to go out, Did they not?

The tank was our bad, It happens
all ions are tested at the beggining of the day, So that was just bad timing.Im not saying you dont have a right to post this, Im just saying to look at it more from the field point of view

bagbon, I do. I swear I do. Like I said in my initial post/review, I am not faulting the field for laying out the rules as they see fit (rules for the private games).
I am most upset that after all that was spent at the field and after all of the obvious disappointment and frustration when we were being pulled off the field, there was nothing said to us.
There was no "up-sale" as they say in the sales industry. They saw that we were interested in playing more and it seemed that all they could do was get us out of there.

Honestly, I have been a bit too harsh here and I apologize, but like I said, I am a customer service oriented guy and I will comment on that more than anything. I don't feel we were treated as well as we should have been, especially considering we paid as much as we did for as little as we got. Consider the fact that everyone else that was playing in a non private game spent around 20 and could have played all day yet we paid 42 for about 2 hours, it seems that when you pay the premium price you should be treated with some extra courtesy.

Can you clarify what your asking? I don't recall what I said that this relates to.

thanks

ok well i must go with bagbon on this one. now i used to work at pw till some problems came up but i still go there cuz i like the ppl. everytime there was a private game they would show up at the start of there time and its their fault for not starting on time. i think it would be obvious to get there before ur time starts so u can have all the time u want to play.

Yes, Agreed. Absolutely. But at the same time, it is hard to get 20 people to show up on time. I hope you can appreciate that aspect of it. In a perfect world that would not be a problem but we have to deal with people as individuals and some people are just not prompt.
We could of course lie to our friends and say the start time is an hour before just to get them there sooner but that seems a bit counter intuitive.

I guess at the time I was all hot and bothered about it because A. it was all very fresh and tempers were flairing 2. I was so enjoying my time there that I did not want to play and 3. my Fiance was just getting out of the hospital after her second bone marrow transplant. She passed away two months later. Either way, it was a stressful time in my life.

My point was that they could have been a bit more accomodating. Be the sales people they should have been. With the amount of money we had in our pockets, they could have made a fortune. I say this because my brother, the very successful one in the family, was paying for all of us to play on my birthday. We all wanted to play more but we were essentially being shooed off the field on a day that there was one other group.

Thats all I was upset about. Sell us on more time guys. Treat us with a little more respect.

end of rant.
