Review: I attended the LUZON event. Let me start off by saying that I came up to Georgia to see my brother and attend this 24 hour scenario game which I have never played. I heard about how good this series was and that "...you have to see that tanks...Ē so I loaded up my equipment and flew up to Georgia to meet my brother and then we drove to bear claw. On first sight it looked like a seen from Woodstock, all you could see was tent city which was great!! So we drove down the road passing the landing crafts and had no clue where to go, so we parked to start our hunt for the rest of the team which did not take long at all. $16.50 for all event air I guess wasnít bad but I heard a lot of complaints, I am personally used to it being part of a field fee here in Texas but what ever, the pro paint ($65) was good the rec paint ($55) was rec paint, so spend the extra $10 and get the pro paint. The field was great reminded me of SC Village with the level of detail. There is a western town speedball field, and a hyper cube field that is not setup. The people where great the ownerís wife was very nice we meet her during a hotdog break which by the way was only a buck each. The $6 breakfast was well priced for the food however the $12 dinners where not, (we went to tocobell and got 10 tacos and burritos for $11.52). The pro shop was good had a couple of arcade games in it, it did smell like cigar smoke as so many posters have noted. I never meet the owner but I did meet Ben from mpp, this guy took time to talk to you, never rushed even when it was something like "how do I get to my base from here", he was very polite and helpful. There were mixed "reasons" for the night play being called off, I was there to play a 24 hour game and it was more like 12-13 I believe, which was a little disappointing and if you do the math with 2 cases of paint and your all event air you are paying $15.42 and hour to play. Now donít take this as complaining, I am just stating what I experienced I DID have a blast, one of the best times ever here. There was one huge issue I have to bring up, the drawing. The drawing begins with the owner getting one the speaker and saying "you guys shot a ton of paint, YOU MADE MY MONTH!" With extreme excitement. Later in that drawing a number was called and he said that it was his niece I believe, however didnít have the card or any proof that this was in fact true other than he is the field owner, Ben asked the crowd what to do and the crowd responded draw another number as we have been doing when the person was not there and the player card could not be shown, and Ben turns, to my amazement, and told him to pick a gun.... wtf why ask if your just going to do what you think is PC. Later in the same drawing a number is called, lets say its 146, Mario from nitro has 145 and 147 but cannot find 146 however since the numbers whet in sequence for the teams it is obvious that it is his, Ben told him he had to have the card ..... But wait... the owner didnít have to have the card???? He didnít even have the cards surrounding that number???? a major wtf, Mario did eventually find the card and got a gun, but this goes to tell me a lot of the owner of this field, he has all these players that just "made his month" and he is going to take an X-7 and laugh about it, as a small business owner myself I believe that you and your family should be excluded from any drawing that you have for your clients, I would not be surprised if that gun ended up for sale in the proshop. So Ben, if youíre reading this, change this to prevent other players from feeling like I do. Oh and our XO (Jap) was awesome !!

Ricky Vaughn

I played with Team Nitro at this event however I was a guest with them and this is my sole opinion not the opinion of Team Nitro.

PS I live life like I type, fast and full of mistakes :)

Dispute:
You have to know know BearClaw Bob & Susie to understand how happy they were that their daughter in-law actually won a gun. She played her butt off all weekend long with a gun she had borrowed from a friend. As for the "Do you know how much paint you shot" comment you need to actually know Bob to see just how big of a joke that is. Name another field where they spend LITERALLY days setting up explosive charges, and trip wired grenades in trees, or drag thousands of dollars worth of sound equipment in to the woods just to provide you with 15 minutes of beach rushing, jawdroping enjoyment. You can't name another Field owner who does this, and these things take money and lots of it. All the money that was spent in paint is or will be invested back into their field and or their FREE Friday night players parties, or their explosive beach assaults. We are all sorry you didn't win anything in the $5000 prize give away, but please don't disparage a field when you don't know who or what you are talking about.

Öwow, so youíre telling me that his daughter in-law had to play with a borrowed gun? Now thatís just messed up. if I owned, letís say an IT company, my family would not have to worry about IT service seeing as how I would be able to provide it for them ;) the beach landing was fun and the sound effects were pretty neat we were like ďwhat was that explosion?Ē, now I donít know about making it sound like the entire woods were rigged with sound equipment when it was the golf cart, but yes it was really neat. I never said I didnít have fun, I did have fun, and I donít need to win anything BUT I just donít think itís good PR to act the way he did, and with a camera rolling and, as the camera guy said "millions watching", who donít "understand BearClaw Bob" and donít "know BobĒ his actions may look questionable, I am going to go out on a limb here and say that I was not the only one there that did not know Bob. If people are going to take scenario paintball serious then I think the field owners are going to have to step it up, and Iím not talking about the field so donít give me ďit's one of the best fields around, he puts millions into it manĒ crap, I am talking about themselves, their actions and business edict. If you were to ask me then I would say, stop smoking in the pro-shop, make the refs wear shoes and no itís not funny, donít talk bad about any versions of the sport including speed ball because you never know if youíre talking to a speedballer sitting on a pick nick bench that just paid to eat a hotdog (or 3), and listen to how much you hate them cause they donít spend money in the pro shop, hummm, and keep your dogs on a leash, we did.

Now, on another note what in my post is incorrect?? What are you disputing?? OR did you just dispute it because you didnít like it and in fact all my statements were true? All you did is say how I donít understand bob, well I understand action, and character very well. In my post I never said the beach landing didnít have sound effects, or that it did not take those days to rig the trip wires to paint grenades. as for the free Friday night players party, I was there Friday night and I must have been in the wrong location, I did not see any players party all I experienced was a big fire and beer with the guys at our site. What exactly was "free" anyway? Now keep in mind that I did not go into the cafeteria area, so if the "free" party was there then I did not see it, and if it wasÖ how in the world would 400 players have fit in there?

This "disputer" must not have read my entire review as it does praise the field, and Iím sure he isnít disputing my comment ofĒI DID have a blast, one of the best times ever here." or is he?

Please state what wasnít true if you are going to ďdisputeĒ something, and if you are not able to find anything that isnít true and just want to make a comment, then just leave a comment. This poster never points out a single false in my review.

Thanks for reading,
Ricky Vaughn

I understand in a way what your trying to say but from knowing Mario and some others from team Nitro I know you were not talking from what they would say and the only reason the night game was called was cause of the generals but it's what you have to say far as the pro shop smelling of cigars even I'm partly responsable for that but Ben,Bob,Susie,Hillbilly, and all the staff at Bearclaw are the Greatest lot of folks to be involed with

I was at the game that H2O speaks of and thought that it was pretty cheesy of Bearclaw Bob to claim marker in give away.I asked his daughterinlaw about the marker that she won,she was under the impression that it was given to her by BearclawBob not something that she had won.Thing came down as H2O stated.
As for Deathby Daddy's post DBD is a mod on pbjunkie.com if you post something negative about Bearclaw or MPPGames on this site,pbjunkie.com, it will be deleted.I guess DBD don't like it when a post is made that he cannot delete.Long live Freedom on the Forums.
