2 renegade fields in pinellas park
Directions to the Field:
um.....in hudson, you know ;)
I don't normally do reviews but thought i'd clear up some of the crap posted here. this will not be a biased review at all like some of the others shown here.
First of all, this is truely a great field to play at with all the different fields they have. 3 airball, a very large hyper, a smaller urban, graveyard and the decent size woods in the back. another thing i was impressed with is they run speedball and woodsball at the same time so you have a choice of playing one or the other or both all day.
This was my favorite field in this area until they raised the price $10(from $15 byop to $25 byop) maybe a year and a half ago. with the cost of gas, even though it's a great field, it's not worth all the travel time and extra gas money for me to go there now. this is why i now just play at a nicely organized local renegade field instead. cleaning my markers because i was using some crappy warped field paint that was sitting in a hot trailer for a couple weeks just isn't my idea of having fun. not to say that their paint is this way but has been my general consensus of field paint in general for quite a few years now.
Now that that's out of the way, the last couple times i did go there the road leading to the field was flodded. if i had a truck it wouldn't have been too bad but running a car through the basically, river across the road, sucked. the wooded area in the back of the field was flooded as well. not much woods play those visits. i don't play, nor am i interested in airball. otherwise, before those couple of visits, i had a truely great time using all of the available fields there.
Though i'm a bit perturbed because he raised the prices, tim seems like a real nice person, asking and making sure people were having a good time there. mixing with the players in an admirable manner. the person i didn't enjoy so much was the grouchy old fella with the new york accent(um.....what's his name). somewhat an obnoxious old geeser with a attitude lol. the staff on the other hand always seems to have a good attitude. their attention to their reffing duties were what i would consider, mediocre but then again, i think most refs period are mediocre. attentive but not excessive which isn't too bad i suppose.
The fields attention to safety was pretty good. the only thing i didn't like was that the chronographs were pretty messed up the last couple times i went there. i ended up using my hand held chronograph instead. hopefully those are fixed by now.
I liked the fact that they had 3000psi and 4500psi fill stations and you can fill your own tanks rather than waiting in line for some sluggish staff member to fill it for you like some other fields in the area. the 4500psi station actually fills to 4500 as well. the habitual, "well......it's just not filling to 4500 today" comment seems redundant in this area for some reason.
OK, other than the raised prices if you byop, the flooded dirt road and back field and the grouchy old guy, this field truely has great potential. you have a choice of what type of game you want to play. the fields are well laid out and there are enough of them to keep your whole day pretty damned interesting. i would certainly not deter anyone from trying it out. if i lived closer i may not even have any reservations about the price hike. $30 to drive there and back, plus quality paint and the $25 entry fee just isn't worth it to me. renegade it is.

Hello and Good evening. I read your post that you wrote about Gator Paintball and it seems as though it's been quite a while since you have been there. Now the road leading to Gator is Paved all the way down almost right to the entrance of the field. Also the pro shop is Air Conditioned for the storage of Paint which is bought weekely. As far as pricing goes we really didnt raise the prices we gave an inncentive to people who buy paint at the field. For someone who buys paint at the field they only pay $10 entry and $5 for unlimited air fills. Thats only $15 to play all day with unlimited air fills. Yes if you bring your own paint it's $15 to play and $ 10 for unlimited air. These Prices are very decent. We now also have a SPECIAL running through September. On Saturdays if you buy a case of Paint($45) you play for FREE and get FREE unlimited Air Fills. Theres no other field that we know where you can play for free. And by the way I'm the "Grouchy Old Guy you were refering to" I think if you check us out now you'll see alot of changes. Thank You and looking forward to your reply. Take Care

it was paved those times i mentioned as well. the street was flooded down by the first trailer park(the paved portion). i drove through it the first time. i drove all the way out there the next week and it was still flooded. i was not driving my car through it again so relunctantly turned around and went home a bit po'd. as you mentioned, the road is not paved shortly before you get to the entrance.

i was not eluding that your field paint was tainted. i've never bought paint from your field. amof i haven't bought field paint since the 80's when i first started playing paintball because of what i mentioned in my review. so you keep the a/c on in the pro shop trailer all week?

you say "incentive" while i was told it was for field renovations. the way i took it was, people that byop were going to pay for the renovations while the one's that bought field paint paid in nothing at all.
so from the quote above.......are you saying it's $15 either way again as it was, or is it still $25 if you byop? i'm confizzled.........

ha ha.....ya got meh! you even know you're grouchy. ;)
hey, i mentioned i was giving an unbiased review and i did so. i expounded my opinion of both positives and negatives. gator is really the best field in this area. why else would i drive for 2 hours in traffic to get there and back? the price hike just made it not worth my while driving all that way with the added continual increase in gas prices. now i play about 5 miles from my residence where i pay little gas, byop and pay $1 to top off my tank after every game. the field fee is $0 not $25....
i humbly apologise if you took any offense to my opinion.
