On base at Pearl Harbor Naval Station. Next to Beemans and Grenfell Pool.
Review:
So, I now understand why there are no reviews for this field.
They are not "closed" per say, however, I had a rather interesting experience today.
I was interested in this field for practice with some coworkers for an upcoming command tournament, with little outside interruption.
I went to check out the field since it's location is rather convinient (I'm stationed at Pearl Harbor). I've looked at it before, and wasn't impressed - low hanging safety nets, air cushions just rolling about in the wind, random pipes laying around the perimiter of the field, and the "turf" was sectioned carpet remnants over concrete. Posted operating hours are wednesdays and fridays 4-9pm, and weekends. So we showed up at 3:30 to wait for the gates to open, when there was still no one there at 4:10, we started walking around the facility, and found several posted phone numbers as well as a sign that looked several weeks old and said "Went to the pool. If you want to play paintball, call [deleted], and we'll be out in 10-15 minutes" When we called that number, a fellow who knew nothing about a paintball park answered the phone. The first posted number was answered by an owner on the mainland who seemed quite surprised about what we had told him, and said he would look into it. The second posted number was a local co-owner, who said that the employees had just told him that they were there. We informed him of our time thus far and he said he would make a few calls and call us back.
Ten minutes later, he informed us that he still had a few people to talk to. Eventually he came out and said that the field is starting to fail financially, and they only open it when they know they have customers, that way they can minimize paying the employees. He said that if we wanted to have the field open, to call his number about 30-60 minutes before we wanted to come out on wednesdays, fridays and weekends, or 24 hours prior for any other day. So given that knowledge here's my overall review so far;
Owners/management: 7 for trying to keep the field going while failing financially
Field condition: 3
Field employees: I'll let you know after I actually get to play, and meet some of them
Overall: 4
Could be a good place to practice with a so-so speedball field to yourselves, other than that probably best left to newer players who don't mind a lower quality arena.
