LET ME STAR BY LETTING YOU KNOW THAT I AM NOT EXPERIENCED AND AM WRITING THIS BASED ON MY FIRST EXPERIENCE. i PLAYED AT HIVI TODAY AND HAD A GREAT TIME! WHAT I WASENT HAPPY ABOUT WAS THE $100 DOLLARS I SPENT TO PLAY.
PROS:
STAFF WAS EXTREMELY HELPFULL- WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY TANK AND WITHOUT ASKING THEY HELPED ME OUT . ALSO 2 WORKERS TURNED DOWN TIP$ I TRIED TO GIVE THEM.
ATMOSPHERE OF EACH FIELD WAS UNIQE AND FUN
FOOD STAND'S
WATER N PICKNIC TABLE AREA W/ FOOT LOCKERS
OVERALL GREAT FIELD SETUP (VARIOUS MILITARY OBJECTS EX:PLANES/ CHOPPERS / SATTELITES ETC.)
FIELD SAFETY - IF YOU UNPUG YOUR BARREL FOR A SECOND OR TAKE OFF YOUR MASK YOU WILL ALMOST INSTANTLY BE TOLD TO PUT THEM ON
SERVICE FROM CERTAIN EMPLOYEES 2 PARTICULARLY
HOURS 10-5
CONS:
OVERPRICED $100 A CASE +AIR + ADDMISSION
TERRIBLE REFEREE'S (NO PAINT CHECKS / LONG WAIT BETWEEN GAME / CONFUSION )
SURRENDER RULE (WITHIN X AMOUNT OF FEET CALL SURRENDER AND THE OPPOSITION IS MANDATED TO SURRENDER)
FIELD UPKEEP IS HORRIBLE AT BEST (MUD PUDDLE FILLED FIELDS THAT SMELL LIKE SEWAGE IN SOME PLACES -I UNDERSTAND ITS SOME ASPECT OF ATMOSPHERE BUT THIS WAS TERRIBLE)
EXTREMELY UNORGANIZED
VERRY LONG WAIT TIME BETWEEN THE GAMES(DIDNT PLAY ALL THE FIELDS BUT ALL WERE RUNNING)
NICKEL AND DIME FOR EVERY LITTLE THING (AIR REFILL/ PAINT CANISTERS ETC.)
OVERALL I HAD FUN . AGAIN THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME AND I NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULD COST A SMALL FORTUNE TO PLAY. THE FIELDS HERE ARE VERRY FUN. ITS A GREAT SETUP AND SCENARIO ALTHOUGH THERE ARE NOT MANY FIELDS AND SOME ARE FAIRLY SMALL. 7 TOTAL BUT I ONLY PLAYED 4 BECAUSE OF THE REF. I THINK COUSINS IS CHEAPER AND HAS MORE FIELDS SO THE NEXT TIME I GO I WILL BE GOING TO COUSINS INSTEAD AND MAKE MY DECISION FROM THRE. I WOULD RECOMEND GOING TO HIVI IF YOU HAVE MONEY TO BURN CAUSE ITS DEFINATELY A GOOD TIME. I JUST FEEL I CAN GET MORE FOR THE MONEY AT COUSINS SINCE I WANT TO PLAY MORE FREQUENTLY .
i havent been to cousins in a while but i dont remember them being cheaper than hivi. even if it was 10 dollars more, you get to play in a castle. one made from brick and stone, not plywood thats soaked with old paint and not filled with leaves. nothing against cousins, i like their proshops best
Cousin's is alot cheaper because you can buy paint at their store for field use which costs about 1/2 as much as High Velcoity II field paint. So there are $50 dollars saved right off the bat, making Cousins almost 1/2 the cost to play at than High Velocity II (if not more), depending on how much paint you shoot.
Also as per HiVi's website: all day air is $15 dollars, in addition to $25 dollars admission, and the cost of paint.
So the cost is $15 (air) + $25 (admission) + $100 (case of paint) = $140 to play at HiVi excluding any food, on the spot repairs, o-rings, etc.
While Cousins is:
$20 (admission) + $55 (case of paint) + all day air (???) = $75+x, which probably will make the total cost around $90 dollars.
The simple fac is HiVi has aesthetically pleasing fields, but the reffing is poor the 3-4 times I have been there, the cost is high, and the rules are can be idiotic (gun hits don't count?!?).
Both fields have their problems, but because of the gun hit rule, and cost I try to avoid HiVi.
I agree that HiVi is kinda expensive but you get what you pay for. More money = Better Fields....Period! True or False Cousin's is mostly woods fiedls with limited cover (and not to bash them cuse I do love and shop at Cousin's Hempstead store).
As for your comment about the gun hit rule please tell me exactly where you play that gun hits count during rec play? I've played in NY, NJ and PA and never seen gun hits count in REC play.
