There is Camp Pendleton I don't really like woods so I went to Velocity... but Camp Pendleton is remodeling to be like a paintball training facility, well see.
Directions to the Field:
Directions are easy to obtain. Just keep your eyes alert for the sign, it is easy to miss.
Safety: They are good on safety however you do see on occasion the refs taking their mask off them self.
Prices: To play it is reasonable but I do believe it should cover air. Capitol Edge in Sacramento does this and air is covered until you pack up and leave. Its about 20 bucks an air card and 20 punch holes. And its one punch hole per psi. I think that pretty expensive esp if you play all day and need to fill your tank after about two games.
Buy paint off the field its cheaper.
Staff/Ref: The majority of the refs are teenagers.
Fields: They have a wide variety and good fields. I have been playing there for a while now I just like playing the nppl and x-ball field. However a couple times they didn't have the nppl field till about 12pm.
Facilites: The women's portable restroom is keep up, but not the mens. They should air freshener in all of them. They need to invest in new air blowers to blow up the bunkers and new bunkers. The bunkers deflate after every game and there is always a 10 to 20 min delay between games because of this.
My story: About years ago this was the place to go, but this place has been going down hill ever since from what I've seen this year (2008) When I come out it just isnt that busy anymore. Staff, they are easy to get along with. However, they seem to be way too laid back for a business. They refs they have are all kids 20 and younger the least! I don't think they have been trained properly.
example: A game is going and there are three refs, sometimes all of the refs are on only one side. If you ask to do a paint check on your opponent they lag. So during the time the ref is lagging that same opponent may hit you out, even though you hit them way before. What happens? You are both out! Ridiculous. I don't even know if they are even paid well or even at all.
I haven't played in a tournament here, but as a supporter of a team that plays in the tournaments I would say don't play here unless you are sponsored by Velocity. It is not worth your money and if you want a good experience, don't.
The refs are also players from other sponsored team by velocity. So if they had to make a call between a sponsored team and one that is not... isn't it obvious that they may/ will be some favoritism?? Note that they are all friends. You just get that "vibe", if you watch closely. Again with the paint check situation, has happened every single tournament.
You think the owner would think about the possibility of this happening, guess what they don't care. It is never guaranteed a fair game.
I don't know what happen this season but my field rating went from a 7 to a 2 won't be my number one field to go to anymore.
If you chose to try out this field... just see for your-self.
They need to get there stuff together...
