I was planning this trip with some friends through our University. From the very beginning the owner, Buddy, was a great help. He was very accommodating and helpful. When we got to the field on Sunday morning he was friendly, and immediately made our large group feel welcome.
Pricing was great. It was about $40 a person and that included your gun rental, 500 paintballs, unlimited CO2, the 4 hours we played on the field and a catered lunch (which was delicious).
Buddy stressed safety; in fact safety was the number one priority. Buddy has three rules, and they are safety, safety, and safety. He is quite a personality and as he emphasized rules he kept the environment serious but also maintained the fun and energy of the group. He may seem brash, but honestly he was a pleasure, and from everyone I spoke with after our event, really added to the experience. As a commenter posted before me, he is indeed a Pittsburgher.
His staff was phenomenal, we probably had close to 50 people playing that afternoon and I don’t remember one thing going wrong.
The course was a blast, completely different than anything I was expecting. There were a variety of forts and every game felt fresh and new. The terrain is impressive with rivers, mountains, large amounts of trees/ brush cover and the occasional open expanse that all led to some memorable battles. The fact that in the background you could see the waterfront on the other side of the river, kept me aware that we were in fact close to downtown, even though it was easily forgotten as you defended your ground from an advance or worked your way strategically to conquer the opposing fort.
I’m so glad that this was my first experience with the game. From Buddy, to his staff, to the field it all created a memorable experience that I intend to take advantage of more often.
