Period of Field Use:
May 13th, 2009
Other Fields in the Area:
Smaller field but much less hectic
Directions to the Field:
Well I've been once and theres good and there's bad
Good: Tons of players, about 50 were there even though it rained
MASSIVE woodsball field, but the x-ball field was down
Good prices 15 all day field and air, paint start at 48$
Bad: Lots of little kids who just love freindly fire
Bias refs that were as young as 13
Cheaters galore wiping paint and flanking from OUT OF BOUNDS( which the REFS alow to happen)
Basically I got there around 11:00, I was surprised to see about 50 people out there especially cause it was raining on and off. X-ball field was down : ( so all games were on the woods ball field. The field was great, it was huge with lots of cover. Problem was that a bunch of players on the refs tournament team where aloud to circle around us using paths out of bounds. When we pointed this out the refs told us to keep playing while he handled it. Next thing we new ref was bird dogging us for them, one guy even walked off cause he got so angry at the ref.
Also many of the players where little kids that seem to think its cool to get head shots.
Problem with that is they don't even seem to know what team they're on so two out of four games I got hit piont blank in the back of the neck by ten year olds who thought they were "sneaking up on the other team" quoted one.
Basically the field has great potential under the following:
Experienced players one game, noobs the next.
I have to say that I play there several weekends each month and have not experienced what Killerclown is decribing about any favoritism. The people that ref the games seem to go out of their way to make sure the teams are divided as evenly as possible and that the games are run fair. Remember, you will always run across a player that wipes if they think they can get away with it. Paintball is played largely on the honor system and unfortunately some players do not get that. As for younger players getting confused in the game, remember they are kids and will get better if the more experienced players help them rather than just get mad at them (we all started of knowing nothing).
The fact that you showed up on a rainy day and there were still 50+ people playing should speak volumes about the park and how it operates. I was probably one of those people and I had a great time aside from being soaked.
In my opinion the park is hands down the best place to play in South Eastern VA and is better than most parks you could travel to find within a few hours.
There is always a very good mix of brand new players, weekend regulars and local teams that take the field together to enjoy a good day of paintballing.
Give it another chance - the ref staff has always seems to go out of their way to make sure everyone is enjoying their day.
hope to see you out there...
Dispute: I understand that this event may have happened.
But far and few between are there referee's under the age of 18.
I ref there and im 23.
We absolutely do not allow players to go out of bounds, they get a one time warning before being removed from the game.
little kids make mistakes dont down a reputation of a great field because some little kid messed up and shot you.
my wife got shot in the back of the head at a field in texas and i dont knock that field just because one bad experience.
Next time if you have any problem of any sort bring it to the head ref's knowledge and the person at the front office. I can promise it will resolve any issue you have.
