WOW. I have never been to a paintball feild that didn't have paintballs before. You would think that running out of paint on a sunday would put off most feild owners. But I guess the guys at Everyone Runs have a different business philosophy. Aparently letting 20 people walk away from their feild is how they roll. Now mebbe if you had the only paintball feild for 100 miles, and your feild was some kind of hot sh*t you could do that. But seeing as they are in the middle of a rural area where anyone can play outlaw on their own land, and there is a small feild every 50 kms in every direction, I don't think that is such a good way to run a business. As far as the feild itself goes, it is pretty uninspired. Theres a "town" feild, a bunch of rundown sheds and a couple busses and assorted junk. They also have a "trench" feild, consisting of, you guessed it, a bunch of holes in the ground. Oh, and don't forget about the tires stacked up with dirt piled on them.
The staging area has loads of potential, with an indoor toilet, and indoor viewing area. Unfortunately its a total mess. So is the rest of the outdoor staging area, garbages overflowing & strewn about, bags of recyclables on the ground in a heap. Staff gives the impression they don't care what goes on at the feild. Sitting inside playing video games when players are on the feild might be a violation of your insurance policy. Seeing large coolers and expensive display racking sitting empty indicate that someone is just too lazy to want to make money.
Rumor has it that the manager is tired of doing his job, and maybe that is all that is wrong with the place. If it was cleaned up & well stocked, a little effort put into the place it could really shine. Fill that big cooler with drinks, set up the BBQ, clean it top to bottom, put free wireless in the viewing area for the parents, and you would have a license to print money. Unfortunately the half-assed business philosophy seems to be par for the course here in Fairview. I hope that someone realizes the potential they have on their hands and works to develop it.
I give this feild a 1. I have played at this feild more than 5 years ago when it started, and it was a good time. I still had a good time last weekend, but it is so frustrating to see something good be let down by poor management. I have more than 10 years experience playing paintball in Alberta. I won't waste my money & time playing at a feild that is a let down. Not having paint on hand on a sunday when its 28C & beautiful out, not filling air tanks above 2000 psi, not picking up garbage & whatnot, staff that just don't care. Its all a recipe for disaster. I will update this post if the feild turns around. Until then, my comments stand.
So I played at Everyone runs again on Aug 23. The feild is under new management. It is already a huge improvement. The feild is clean, there is plenty of air and paint, there was always a ref or staff member with the players keeping an eye on everything. Snacks and refreshments were on hand. I may not get a chance to play at Everyone runs again this season because of my schedule, But I am already excited about what will be in store for next year. And they are still going for the rest of this season, Thurs nights & Sundays are cheap days. I could already see the difference in this feild even tho it has only been under new management for a short while. Staff have a good attitude, & everyone who came out had a good time. I give it a 7 right now, but I'm sure it will be a 9 or 10 in the very near future.
I have played at Everyone runs every year since it was opened and was completely disgusted with the state it descended to in such a short time. Its amazing what one bad manager can do to years of good business and hard work. Fortunately the bum was run off and the new guy has redeemed the field to its previous splendor. Bringing out the fun, safe paintball culture we are all accustomed to at Everyone Runs Paintball in Fairview.
