Just once
Date There: December 30th, 2009
More than 5 years
Other Fields
in the Area:
Extreme Paintball in Manor-good-a bit pricey, very safe and good customer service
Petty PB-good-nice folks, big area, awesome for scenarios
Leander PB Alliance-fair-nice people, field is a little junky, some players are "clique-ish"
to the Field:
the directions you get from their web page are spot-on! I was concerned since it is an area I am not familiar with, but the directions are literally turn by turn..very easy to find.
Review: All I can say is WOW! You can tell this is a field owned by a guy who loves paintball, not some money making scammer.

FIELD: The quality of the field is probably the best I have played in Texas because he has cleared out the cactus (nothing sucks like low-crawling up to snipe and grazing your groin across a cactus!) and he goes out the day before play and baits the anthills...I probably spent 20% of game play on the ground and not a single ant bite!
It is only open a few days a month to allow the field to stay nice and green, so even though I played the day after rain, there was MINIMAL mud and no ruts.
The majority of the man made bunkers were made of downed trees, so it had a nice aesthetic appearance, not a bunch of junk cars, old wire spools or corrugated tubes. Some of the man made structures are semi-permanent, so he can move them every few months to change up the field! The field is big enough to run all over the place to flank and circle, but it's not so big you get lost mid game.

GAME PLAY: They not only do they have some SICK scenarios/games to play (Terminator is just too much fun!!!), but they would describe a couple of different games and see what we all wanted to play, so it was definitely geared toward players preference. We played "soccer" (and yes, you have to kick a soccer ball while shooting and being shot at), SatCom, President(the President is unarmed and has to make it to the helipad with the help of his "Secret Service" agents), Terminator (the Terminator has a small target taped to his chest, and that is the only place he can be "de-activated", but he can shoot any other player any place else and they are out!) and there were tons of other ideas we never got to but sounded like fun. He has a tournament scenario with a very cool points system, field medics, a field hospital, all kinds of cool "quirks" to keep it interesting.

PRICE: it is BYOP..AWESOME! 20 bucks was all I paid to play all day, and that included water and all the soda you can drink! CO2 was 5 bucks for a fill which is very competitive I feel to Academy, etc. I have my own gear, so I cannot speak to rental rates, but when I got tired of hauling my 114ci HPA tank, Chris (the owner/manager) threw me a CO2 tank and told me to get back in the game, and he did not charge me for it!

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Chris is a heck of a nice guy, and he even jumped in and played several games to even out teams. I met him, his wife and some of his family, all a very nice bunch of folks. Even though I have played for years, it can still be uncomfortable going to a new field solo. Chris made me feel very welcome and included right from the beginning, even made me team captain so I wouldn't be the last guy picked ;) And again, he threw me some CO2, and when my marker messed up, he let me borrow a rental marker at no cost as well! Since I have played before, Chris asked me for some ideas on what he could owner asking for constructive criticism is pretty impressive. Not only did he listen to what I said, but a few days after game play, he emailed me telling me he was going to start working on some of my ideas!

OVERALL: I think this is one of those little known fields that are truly amazing. I have mixed feelings; I want to see this field be enjoyed by all of us woodballers, but on the other side, it is nice having my own little paint ball secret gem ;) It is a challenging field for the veteran player such as myself, but also a very non-intimidating field for newbies. If you love woodsball in a casual yet fun setting, Fizban Farms is the place to play...definitely give it a try.
