I used to play at Paintball Mania, I liked it. I played at Extreme Paintball, its been closed for years. I played at Twisted along time ago... and other fields in other states randomly... i used to travel alot and if ever in a town for the weekend i looked up a place to play.
Twisted is a good and could be GREAT with a few improvements.
1. Figure out a way to make it rain less, or bring in som fill dirt and fill the mud holes on the tires and hyperball courses. they are fun fields but have ankle deep water on the popular bunkers. and grade the surface of the airball field... standing water made me not play one of their best fields!
2. Fix up the fields, not much but needs better stakes on the airball, many of the bunkers fall over from the WIND, let alone trying to play on them.
3. Talk to the refs. they were ok. they didnt mind getting in the fray when needed and had good attitudes for the most part. but when they are partial to their buddys, who ref on other days, and inform them when someone moves on them, kinda sucks! a better turn around on games would be nice. their 5 min = 10 min..
Thanks so much for taking time to review Twisted! As for the airball field - last weekend was the first time we have ever had standing water on this field. Hopefully future rainfall will be restricted to Monday & Tuesdays with less than an inch per day (we can only hope). The surface of this particular field will not be graded. 99% of the time it is fine and we have no desire to trash excellent turf grass in order to address a situation that happens so infrequently.
The stakes on the field were a BIG issue. This was basically the first day the brand new field had been in full use. Stakes used on the old bunkers proved to be inadequate and were replaced this week with a longer, different style. We also found (after going to 12" stakes) that the bungies supplied by the manufacturer are in fact, too short and we will be asking for replacements this week. So, with new stakes and new bungies, the field should be golden.
Standing water in the depressions in front of bunkers on Tires/Hyperball is (again) usually not an issue. We will certainly take your recommendation under consideration, especially if we continue to receive as much rain as we have had over the past couple of month.
Your comments regarding the refs will be addressed first thing in the morning and they will be reminded that any biased or perceived bias will not be tolerated. As far as game turn around. Most people complain that we turn it around too quickly. The rule is that the next game starts once everyone is back in the rest area. So if you are shot out earlier in the game, of course, the wait time until the next game starts will be longer. But this will be addressed as well.
Thanks again for your review. You are also always welcome to address any problems/complaints with us, in person, while you are at the field. As with all other fields in the area, we do appreciate it when players let us know of any issues when they are happening so that we can quickly address the problem.
I loved playing at twisted! I didn't mean to sound so negative. Sorry. The ref weren't as bad as I made them sound, I must have been in a lousy mood. I feel I owe them apologies. Even the one who let info slip, it really wasn't that big of deal. They were courteous friendly and helpful 99% of the time. Twisted tx is the best place!
