Getting there - The field is minutes off the 417E, close to Ottawa and about 5 mins from the new Calypso waterpark. Its also 3-4 mins out of Embun, where there are restaurants and bank machines etc. The location is fantastic.
The Facility - There is a good parking area off the entrance, the first thing you see is the large covered staging area, with customer service counter and picnic tables for getting setup. There are lockers and a clean portable toilet around the corner. To the left is the future site of the Pro Shop which should be completed by June. The site is under development and they have great plans for the future, that said this is already a site that sets the standard in the area. Clean and professional looking. There is a BBQ onsite for customer use which is awesome.
The Fields - They have 7 fields which include speedball, a fort/bunker field and a woods field. Currently they are working on a castle to be completed soon. Last season we played the woods and had a great time, this last day we played the fort/bunkers most of the day and had a ton of fun. The fields will only improve as they develop more of the site.
Saftey - Safety is excellent here. Safe areas/googles on areas are well marked and enforced, as are barrel socks at all times. All players were chronoed quickly and then moved to the staging area where the saftey briefing and proceedures were given. Each time we have played, we have also had great ref's who have made sure rules and saftey are followed.
Staff - The customer service here is second to none. Everyone greets you with a smile and goes out of thier way to help you, this is clearly a place built by paintballers for paintballers, and the pride in the business shows. Qualified techs on site mean that none of our guys were out of action for long with gear troubles. All issues were fixed on site in minutes. Booking our group is super easy and we have never had problem of any sort. Service is offered in French and English.
Environment - This is a really a place where you can feel good about playing and having your teens play (Mine do). Staff are saftey vigilant, and very welcoming and helpfull. The place and staff exist to make the day the best it can be for you.
Rental Equipment - Rental equipment was clean and well maintained, with no issues. Not every field can boast this.
Proshop - The Proshop will be moved to the site soon, however we found that gear could be ordered very quickly and delivered to us at the field on game day, which really cuts done on the running around. Anything can be bought here, what they don't have in stock can usually be ordered in days. Also prices were very good.
Costs - Prices are better than most other places, in a quick comparrison I found paint to be about $10 cheaper per 500rds than most other places...and it is good paint. Walk on fees and rental fees are also very good. This makes it really affordable to do for a day, on your own or with family and friends.
Conclusion - This is the best field I have played at in 7 years of paintball. As they grow and expand thier facilities and services I think they will set the standard for paintball in the area. The proximity to the highway, the town of Embun and the Calypso water park make it a very easy place to get to, use and enjoy. |
