Myself and a bunch of friends played at Carnage for the first time last year. At the time the field was fairly new although it had great potential. We've played there again this year and I'm pleased to say that it is definately finding it's stride.
Fields: They have a speedball field but since we don't play that I can't really comment on if it is a good one or not. It does appear to be a good size and fairly complete.
We've played primarily at the woodsball field which has a nice mix of open spaces, woods cover and trails. There are small streams on the field which adds to the fun of moving. All in all the woods field is excellent.
They have a bunker field with a two story "castle" in the center which we've just started playing at. While it is still a bit rough and not as complete as other similar fields I've played, the layout and spacing of bunkers is extremely good. I can see playing at that particlaur field alot more in the future. I've been quite happy at the fields we've played and haven't needed to try their other spaces (although maybe in the future :-)
Safety: While most of the group I play with are all longtime paintballers, I was happy to see that they gave a complete helpful safety briefing before we started for the day. As I've just taken my 10 year old out to play I was very happy that the briefing was presented in a matter-of-fact manner and was very complete in nature.
I was also impressed that they've setup netted areas as safe zones, even when we were playing in an area outside of the standard fields. Top marks for safety.
Rental gear: Whle I have my own gear, the few newbies we've had out (including my 10 year old) have had rental gear. The rental markers are 98s, extremely well maintained.
Price: Best prices I've seen playing at a commercial field in the area. Good enough that some of the hard-core outlaw players who are members of our group even want to go there instead of playing outlaw!
Services: Can't really comment on the pro shop since I haven't made use of it but I am very impressed with the way that Charles, the owner, goes out of his way to help people out and perform repairs at the field. Which leads to:
Staff: The nicest bunch of staff I have seen at a commercial field. Helpful, willing to assist if possible and very cheerful (as opposed to some local fields). The refs have been excellent and willing to let us try our own wierd variations on games rather than trying to impose any artifical structure. 10 out of 10 on customer service.
Facilities: It is a new field so they are still working on things but the main building / entrance area is a good size for pre-game. As mentioned they have setup netted areas (including one netted "house) which all appear in very good state of repair. They don't have a restroom on site but at least the porta pottie is clean (and it doesn't even smell!!). They have a propane BBQ which can be used (after arranging for it) so if you want to BBQ some burgers it is a nice setup.
All in all it has been a great couple of times playing at the field and I expect I'll be there many times in the future. If you're in the Ottawa area I would highly recommend it.
