One of the worst fields I have ever been to,
in a short summery
1) huge lack of safety
2) refs did not know much about paintball in genneral
3) fields themselves are nothing special, I have played at better ones in back woods, I dont know why you would pay to play at these fields
here is a longer explination of what happened last weekend
I went with a group from my college, they go on a paintball event every year and due to scheduling we had to change at the last minute to adventure. We arrived around 10 and I already knew this was a small park becuse it was all run out of one shipping container, but whatever, I know looks are not everything. I was one of 3 people who had their own gear, everyone else suffled off to get a rental marker and mask. As I was setting up my gear I asked a ref what field velocity is, he said "300" which i was a little supprised at because I had never been to a field that chronoed right up to 300, i asked him if thats what the rentals were chronoed to and he said, well they are a little below 300. so already they are allowing people to shoot hotter than the rental fleet, and i knew he wasnt going to check my velocity either, they didnt even have a chrono out to be used! i had to use my own its a god thing i have one. when we got everyone situated the ref came over to give his safety breifing. it ws increadably short, he didnt really say much at all in reguards to safety, mostly showing people how their markers worked. Did not even mention that the barrel covers need to be on whenever your mask is off. he didnt even tell people where to go when they are out!
So we head out to the field and I can already tell something is amiss because the Ref has his mask on top of his head, not wearing it, on top. we get lined up for the first game, ref yells go and i find my first bunker, look up and there the ref is again, STILL NOT WEARING A MASK! instead he is sitting in the middle of the field smoking, ya great safety these guys got. without further explination here are a few of the more outstanding things he and another ref managed to do throughout the day
a) walking around the field with mask on top of the head saying "ref dont shoot" whenever they come accross someone
b) and i couldnt believe my ears when i heard this one, inbetween games i told someone to put their barrel cover on because they had their mask off, and that was a easy way to loose an eye the ref actually said "o its ok, he signed the waver" yes, its ok if someone looses an eye by this refs thinking, as long as the company is protected we dont care if someone looses an eye on the field
c) i was actually telling people to put their barrel covers on more than the refs were all day long
in summery, it was the worst field I have yet been to and I have been to a lot of fields in my years of playing |
