Safety: every other round, everybody chronos, but my friends who rented didn't have to. As long as most shots aure ~285, they okay you. i got passed shooting a 304. Mike did say that if you ever took your goggles off, there was a slim chance he'd let you back on his field.
Fields: THE #1 WAY TO DESCRIBE THIS PLACE: i am on track and cross country teams, and run a 5:30 mile, but i got out of breath due to this place's hills very quickly. do not underestimate these, if your feet ever start to lose grip or you start going downhill too fast, you should not expect to stop until you hit the bottom. We played a "UN" game, and one of my teammates' ground started to slide, so he slid over 30 feet on his ass down the hill, swearing on the way down. I almost bit it coming down, as gravity was pulling me down faster than the soil would let me slow down. I also found a few places where i had to traverse the hill to find a spot with trees to use to help my self advance.
Hours of Operation: arrive by 9 for rentals, 9:15 otherwise, last game ends at 3:30
Prices/Equipment: very good. 39 for a case of paint, 35 for a nice rental (see below) with all day air, 20 for self-equipped. I think 8 for self-equipped air.
Rules: They had many variations of games, some improvised by Mike as he described. We had a battle over oil.
Bathrooms: Contrary to other reviews, there are 2 permanent porta-pottys here
Road: for life's sake, go no more that 5 mph on the 1-car width dirt driveway above the steep face that has tight bends. seriously.
Players: Nobody was an "a-hole" as Mike put it, he made it clear anyone being one was was out of his park.
Refs: Were diligently checking people, stopping fire when a car came by, were running around and doing a great job.
Food: There a a 40 minute lunch break, they sell grilled hotdogs, cold sodas, and chips, a dollar each. I bought 4 Dr. Perrers there today, don't make my mistake, bring lots of liquid in a cooler, it gets unbearably hot here once you are running around.
Rental Markers: WOW! they had Spyders that were not low-end ones (can't remember exactly which) and every rental includes all-day air and an HPA tank. The rental markers are mechanical, but have a 2-finger trigger that was fine at being walked.
The Best Part: With one game left, i needed an air refill, i started to unscrew my tank, and it began to unscrew at the WRONG place. I check with Mike, and he told me to empty it on the range, bleed the remaining pressure, and send it back. He said i risked turning it into a "f*cking rocket", so i was pretty bummed. He was really cool though, and let me take one of his HPA tanks to run off barely in time to hit the last game.
Overall: this is a good woodsball course with a little bit of CQB, but the teams were too big for my liking (about 15 on 15) and the steepness of the near-cliff we played on make it difficult to move either up or down. Go here if you want a good workout and like woodsball that plays like speedball, without the speed.

Safety: Very good, speed checks always enforced, though the terrain can be a challenge if you're not in shape or aren't used to it.
Fields: Large and diverse. Excellent woods balling field with a variety of bunkers, natural cover, rock formations and the like. Its on a semi-steep grade but if you can't handle it, WORK OUT.
Hours: Get there early so you can play all day, it's worth it.
Prices: Fair, but credit cards are no good, cash only.
Rules: DO NOT SHOOT THE COWS.
Services: Bathroom...um the woods.
Proshop: Not really, if you have a rental they can fix it, but otherwise nothing spectacular. (Bring things you might need if something were to break)
Staff/Refs: Friendly and helpful
Players: Good diversity of players, both advanced and beginners.
Facilities: Its the woods man, who doesn't love it.
Overall wonderful field, will surely go back and spend my money there. |

The safety there is great. The owner is always enforcing the rules and he is strict about people's sportsmanship. He makes sure that everyone has a good time there and have some fun.
The filed is great. It is very challenging if you are not that fit because you have to run up hills and downs hills. It has a lot of great cover and do not hide behind them, use them.
The hours of operation is good. from 9:30am- 3:30pm. If they start late and the owner is there, he will let us end late.
The prices are good. The most "expensive" paint is $45.
The rules are greatly enforced. If you are caught wiping, they will give you a warning and make you talk to mike, the owner, then they will kick out out the game and the field the second time around.
The services are kinda slow when there is a lot of people. And it was funny because they ran out of paintballs and CO2 because it was scenario game.
No proshop. A few items here and there.
The staff there is great because they make sure that you follow the rules and do what they have to do.
The refs are also great because they call people out when they are hit and so9me of them get kicked out because they are caught wiping. The people that are caught wiping are just cheating themselves and that makes them the worse players because it is not going to get them anywhere.
The players that played the scenario game did not have any sportsmanship because they did not want to cheer the winning team. Also, they wiped a lot and I had seen so many of them do it.
They do have port-o-potties. But it smells.
They will have hot dogs, chips, sodas and water. If there are a lot of people there that day, only one item of each can be purchased by each person but if there is not a lot, then more than one can be purchased. |

The only other place similar to this I have played is Paintball Jungle in Vallejo. I like this place better as there are more bunkers to bump in, but the parking situation is better at the jungle. |

CONS:
Difficult to get there: It's out in boonyville Clayton, I passed it the first time around as the sign is small.
Small parking area, steep inclines in rest area.
PROS
Friendly staff: Great bunch of guys putting this place together. Fair and watch full staff. Offered help, advise to all who asked.
Fair price for a full day of paintball.
Interesting field: Very steep in sections, lots of bunkers to bump around in.
All in all a great place to play. Courteous and fair staff. Our team was stacked in the morning games so they brought out some staff to even it out. These guys were very good a few played with only pumps. They switched back and forth to keep the games even. The terrain is very steep so bring some cleats to play in. Cheap all day air to 3000 psi fills. Good lunch |

The field is about 2 acres, but i can't be sure. The owner is very nice as are the refs. The rental guns are 98 Customs, they have co2, air, karnage paint, and great food for lunch (i think its usually hot dogs or burgers). I have heard complaints about the steep grade of the field. I personally don't think it matters but i guess if your very out of shape you might not like it. You should know thatthe key to winning on this field is taking the uphill side of the current playing field. |

I had never been to a field like this one, the one i had been to before is flat ground this is straight up a mountain. Its nice since it doesnt get super hot. The fields are nice but i thought they would be bigger because i saw the map on their website. The refs at the field are strict about the rules (THATS A GOOD THING) unless its an accident. i think they should have better uniforms since half the time i felt like they were playing. I liked how you can sit on the sideline and watch the game when your out. If u plan on going take some shoes with some good grip since most of the fields have incline. I plan on going back again for some more. |

I loved this place. Their website makes the place look bad in my opinon, but you gotta check it out for yourself. My only complaint? It gets busy, and there is a very small staging area. If you want to use your stuff straight out of your car, you better get their early to claim a spot or you will have to move to a table. There was a medeokre lunch provided, but again, I took my barbecue. I have only been there once, but thats where I'm going from now on. I'm only 5 miles away from Sunol and 20 from Venture Games. I hope that is telling you guys somehting. Sunol was terrible for returning players. If you want to go with a group of friends to have a fun day, Sunol, MAYBE. But Venture Games, Definately! Mike, the owner/manager, was outstanding. He was very understanding and creative. The place was well maintained and my experience could not have been better. The fields were awesome and had the coolest bunkers ever. There were a couple 2-story forts that they fail to mention on the web! My overall impressions was excellent. There is good cover everywhere, and makes it difficult to advance, so sometimes you just end up with a stalemate until time rusn out. The advantage, you can be the last guy and hold them off. You cna move around without being seen so they will think there is more than one of you left. Its really cool. There are regulars, and they are very nice. I'm definately not new, but am still young, as everyone else is here. If you bring a speedball gun, you're screwed, except for your fast fire-rate. The point here is to take time on your target and advance slowly, speedballers wear bright colors, bad idea. Camo actually pays off here. Don't bother with a jersey. If you make a ghille suit with the local plants, you will be totally invisible on the hill sides. You can slide in the soft places, its common sense. There are some large rocks that are awesome for laying down supressive fire. Bathrooms though are non-exsistant. Find a tree and hope you don't have to go #2 that day (I was told that outhouses were just being replaced that day, so its probly temporary). Refs are very fair and likeable, but very quiet. Won't call you out unless you want yourself out, kinda weird, huh? Around all that, they have strict safety policies and allow you to bring your own paint. Thats nice, field paint here is a fair $40 per 2000, but they give you good paint. Its not tournament grade, but it is way better than Sunol. My only problems? Staging area, again. THere are plenty of benches and stuff but lots of people like to work out of their trucks, and there is not a lot of room for that, especially since half the staging area is uphill. You should bring your own charis and table if you want to work out of your car, it paid off when I did. It is certainly worth going back. They actually have objective games to. Instead of a "Just Kill them All," its CTF, only rarely does a team actually get a flag. Oh, and they allow grenades here too. A big change from elsewhere. Good luck and see you on the field! |

This is probably one of the best Woodsball field in Bay area. The owner Micheal is really on it when it comes to saftey. He is also really kind and generous and he's not in the buissness for the money. The field was basicly divided into two then divided into more sections. And they mixed the games and fields up alot but not the teams. Which is good because I was with some real hardcore players. While I was in a heated firefight I was blasted in the ear but they dude who shot me was kind enough to see if I was alright. My only complaint was they should be open Fridays. The prices were a tad high but if you come in a group of 3 or more you get a FREE 2000 paintballs box. There is no proshop but they make up for it by having some really high quality markers that are kept nice and clean and they acutally work. There were only about 10 people on staff including refs. In my own opinion the refs were really cool and they were fair and they review the rules if your a first-timmer. All in all it was one of the best times I've had in a long time. 10/10 |
