The prices may have come down a bit on the paint. I paid $40 for a box of stingers last time i was there. Safety is what they aim for there as far as facemasks and barrel plugs/socks. The place is an old turkey farm i think, it wasn't built watertight, and it leaks all over the indoor feild. So many people lay paint down so fast nobody could keep up with the cleaning, but it does get cleaned. People slip, but if you're sure footed you'll be alright. I haven't had trouble. The lighting is dim, but it's no cavern in there and you definitly can see who you're shooting at. The ref mostly does stay out of the arena, depending on who it is, but most guys are good about calling themselves. Players range from newbies with rentals to skilled players with tourney markers. Friendly buch though. It's not perfect, but a good place to play in the winter and make friends. |

M-40 Paintball is a pretty nice setup, they have an indoor paintball field setup in the bottom of a old grainery with many boxes and rooms to maneuver through.
They also have an outdoor field which is setup with wide drainage pipes and heavy plastic barrels. Most would prefer inflatables including myself, but the way they have it setup is nice. They seem to change their outdoor setup monthly for the hardcore guys that keep going back for more paintball. They have two snakes on both sides of the outdoor field and orange cones to mark starting zones.
My friends and I keep trying to look for new and different fields to explore our options, but with work in the summer M-40 is a great place to go when it gets cold out. Put on an extra sweatshirt and depending on the weather here in Michigan they will vary outside/inside play.
The price is $20 which includes 1 free CO2 fill and the option to use your own paint. I think its fair since others will charge you $15 and you have to use their field paint making it a lot more expensive especially if you went out and got some really nice paint the weekend before.
The referees at M-40 make the rules very clear and are very helpful. They encourage fair play and will try to base teams off of skill and gun type. Most of the time play is just supression or deathmatch (whatever you prefer), eliminate the other team or be eliminated. The refs vary the game play so noobs can enjoy themselves as for seasoned paintball players, if you have say 15 newbs renting guns they will play snipers. 3 hardcore paintball players with full auto guns against the 15 newbs. Their rentals are Pro Carbines and M98s which I think they have a fixed price for both of these.
Inside can become messy sometimes with a concrete floor with a lot of paint everywhere and the outside could be better with inflatables especially since you slide and run a lot more making hazards more probable.
Overall a fun place year round, being a Michigan player its great to be able to play during the winter indoors and out of the cold. |

I had a blast at M-40 for a bachelor party last week. I have welts to prove it - so does the bachelor! They re-did the outdoor field it is lit-up with tons of barrels and tires - a well balanced and fair play field. The indoor field was very big and surprisingly clean!! The Refs were cool, they had original game ideas and were involved. We played outdoors, then it rained, so we ended the game indoors. M-40 gets a 10. |

I played this arena a couple years ago with the Marine Corp. It was my first time playing at an actual paintball place. A couple things that were already said and some of my own thoughts:
1) The floor was wet on the indoor field and made running and hiding somewhat hard.
2) They have some inflatables that weren't exactly positioned to give a whole lot of hiding/shots on opponents. When hiding behind them it was almost just a spot to catch your breath, could be a good or bad thing.
3) The outdoor field I thought was pretty cool. It has an industrial feel to it. Huge concrete pipes, lots of running and hiding room.
4) I don't know if they do this for everyone but we played games like capture the flag and timebomb or something like it, with a box that we had to retrieve. That was fun even though we got over run by a guy with an Angel automatic.
5) Overall for it being my first time, I had a blast. I am actually going back and if anyone knows of other places (maybe bigger and more open) let me know. |

This place is very rundown and dirty.First of all we went when it was snowing and water was dripping down at the staging area and in the Field, not just a little bit,it became a big problem! The water dripping down got into my hopper and paint and caused some problems with swollen paint and problems with my Cyclone Feed. The indoor field is pretty big for just one field. It has cement flooring with ALOT and I mean ALOT of paint and water on the floor, which made it very slippery and hard to run in without slipping. It would have been an interesting indoor Field if not for the hazardous flooring. The outdoor Field was pretty good, the only problem I found was the lack of safety. The refs did not enforce keeping the masks on while on the Field or for people watching the game behind the netting (which had holes and tears). The rental guns were old Pro lites and M98s which he called the "upgrade" marker. |

It's an ok place to go and play. The skill level of players varies from week to week. I've been there when there was nothing but first timers, and I've been there when the TC team, and the team from The Perimeter have been there. If it's your first time playing get a bunch of friends to go. If your more experienced then one day you will find stiff competition and another to find nothing more then target practice. The fields there are ok. The outdoor field is much better then the indoor one. The outdoor is nearly twice the size of a normal speedball field, but that pays off when 30 people show up. The indoor field however is very small. If there is a big group there and you have to play indoor then good luck. In there it is very dark and slippery. Many times you can't tell if someone on the other side is on your team or not. The fields there aren't mirrored on the other side. Outdoor I think far side has advantage where as in the indoor I think the close side has an advantage. As far as paint prices go don't buy your paint there, it's around 75-80 for a case, save yourself a lot of money and bring your own paint. Also the entry fee price is 20 bucks which includes free air all night or one free CO2 fill. The reffing there is ok. It depends on which ref is there that night. One will stand in a corner and yell ref all game so you don't shoot at him. Another will actually do what a normal ref does like paint checks calling people and etc. The main thing you need to do before playing is to verify that everyone is choroned in. Some people go and wont chrono until someone bleeds from a shot. Yes I have seen this happen to friends more then once. The people that show up are generally nice and wont do anything stupid. All in all it's a good place to go and play when you get a chance to. With the choice of this or TC I would take TC. But go give it a try for yourself. |

I've played at M-40 quite a few times because of it's proximity to my home. I think the indoor course is very challenging as well as exciting, but it is very slippery. The outdoor course needs some serious attention from owners. It's big, and laid out nicely, but there is debris on the grounds. I dived behind a barricade of tires, and ended up landing on some broken cement-block pieces sticking up from the ground "not a pleasant experience". I would rate it a 5 right now, but I would make it around a 7 if they kept the place up better.| Last edited on Sunday, November 14th, 2004 at 2:53 am PST |

Outdoor and Indoor corses were nice, Loved the setup although the outdoor field the furthest starting spot was the best, they usually won. Inside was a little bit dark could use a bit more lighting. The wrose thing that makes me drop the score to a 5 is the Awful paint that they have i mean i have used Brass Eagle paint that performed better than the stuff they used , and since you can only use field paint it makes for a terrible expirence especially when the price is outrageous. |
