u want my directions dont go there but for the food and rick the gun tech dont play
Good italian food 1 of the best gun techs around but the feild is to small people over shoot and blind fire all the time it saftey is ok the ref is decent if u take a real gun in there dan ricks dad is the man hes good with guns
My favorite field, this place is awesome you can play paintball shoot your pistol or rifle at the same place. The food is WONDERFUL best Italian food i have ever had. Rick is a genius at fixing guns and playing. Ronnie the ref is so nice the first time i ever played there he walked me through the whole place. he will make the game even. The shop has a good selection of paintballs and parts but if they don't have what you need they will order it for you. by far the best place around i think
I'm going to section this off to limit any confusion... which happens often when I describe things.
People: Dan, the owner, is a great guy. He gives you a grand tour of everything the first time you show up. Even if you don't plan on using some of the areas, it's still nice to know. However, if you screw up, he will go from nice to "Why did I ever do <insert problem here>?!". Rick is the guy that runs the paintball portion. He knows paintball better than anyone I can think of. If you have a problem with your marker, he can fix it. If you have a question, he will answer it. He's great to talk to, especially about... you know it, paintball! Ronnie is the ref, he's one of the coolest people up there. He evens out the teams very well, so that it's not semi-pro players against newbs. I can't remember any of the ladies names, but they're all great to talk to. Everyone around SMSC is great, if not for paintball, I would go up there just to talk. The regulars up there are extremely nice, they helped me out when I first showed up, and they will for you too. However, watch out for James... he'll make you an art master piece!
Accommodations: The food is AWESOME!!! Absolutely the best Italian food anywhere! Maybe even better than Italy it self! I suggest Mamma's Quick Pizza... mmm, I'm getting hungry thinking about it... ONWARDS!!! They have bathrooms, which are great for changing out of paint stained clothes before hopping in the car. What would a field be without an airsmith? Rick, again, is the best airsmith on Earth. If you're a hunter, they have a rifle range, and the paintball field doubles as a skeet range in the off-season. If you're a pistol person, as well, there is a pistol range.
Field: It's small, yes, but a blast to play on. It's on a hill, which makes it more fun to me because it adds a little more of a challenge. The sun does get into the eyes of those who are on the top, but only in the late afternoon. It's layed out evenly, and fair. Two snakes, three stand ups, and two crouch bunkers on each side. Along with many bunkers around the 45 and 50.
Shop: This is where I go when I eat. One reason is to talk to Rick, but another is to eyeball what I might feel like buying. The layout is great, many items in stock, but if they don't have what you need they will order it. The prices are awesome. They also have great paint, which includes All Star, Stingers, and more.
Overall, Sand Mountain Shooters Club is a great place to play, and hang out. I go very often, and will continue to for quite sometime. I give it an A++.
SMSC is the best place that I have ever played at. The feild may be small, but the way that they have set it up makes it to where you barely even notice. The locals that come are friendly and will help you with anything that you need. Rick, the gun tech, is AWESOME. He can fix anything that you need to be done, and can find something for you if he doesnt have it in the stock. The Ref, Ronnie, is a great ref. He evens the teams and makes sure that everyone is playing fair. And the food! There is some of the best food I have ever tasted at SMSC. It is a great place to learn how to play the game, and a great place to play when you are experianced, too.
This is my home field!!! The Staff CANNOT be beaten. By far the most friendly people i've ever met!!! The chef's(Mrs Jenn and Mrs. Jan) are practically professional. The best Italian food I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The feild is a bit tiny but it is great to practice 3 man on! The first time i ever went Ronnie(the ref) help me out the whole time. If u dot like bukers their aren't ay here. It is 15 feet or more. The gun tech is like AMAZING He can fix any problem if he has the parts and the time. I have never had a problem with my gun that he couldn't fix. And my gun is a high matinence cocker . Try it out if u are ever near there!!! You won't regret it.
We gave it a few visits and it was at best just ok .... very small and the "regulars" were very rude to the guest. The fields are gonna have to be bigger for this place to stay in business, I believe. Prices are good - Fees aren't bad.
I will give the manager / worker good review ... he knows his stuff pretty well. The owner , I didn't care for to much. Seems a little high strung and not so friendly. The paintball worker was great though - very likeable.
They have a nice place but for paintball , it was just to small and the regulars need to be a little nicer to those thinking about making this field it's local place to play.
Not many places to play in the Marshall CO area ... so overall I guess it will do until we find another.
I've played SMSC and Fast Paintball... SMSC may have less fields, but FP requires a reservation to play, the owner isn't always there, and it's way overpriced.
I've played at SMSC every weekend for the past 7 or so weeks, and I must say that it is the best field around. It has a wonderfully friendly atmosphere, the people there tend to be on a first name basis, and actually remember your name. They have the best dang italian food I've ever eaten, and I'd go up there just to eat if I couldn't play. The speedball field is really fun, even if it IS on a hill, I don't really care, I love it much more than I will ever care for FP's speedball field. The prices are wonderful, $5 for the field, $12 for 500 count field paint (Which is ZaP I believe, but don't quote me) and they have Rick, who happens to be awesome with repairs. They have lots of parts at the store for fixing about anything it seems, and if they dont have the part you need, they usually will order it for you. They always seem to have high quality guns for sale (I've almost always seen an Angel or a Timmy when I'm up there) and they don't overcharge. Ronnie is an awesome ref, he balances the teams rather well, and he is just a cool guy in general, but don't talk too much smack, or you might find yourself in a 3v10 scenario. (Never seen this happen before, but I've heard stories) SMSC strives to make the players happy, and that will always put it at the top of my list. I will continue to play up at the field for as long as I can, and I enjoy it every time I go up there.
This is one of the best fields I have ever played at. It may be small, yes, but if you're into paintball this is one of the best places you can find. The guy who runs the place, Dan, is very helpful and nice, but you don't want yo get on his bad side so be good. Rick knows almost everything there is to know about paintballand very good at fixing markers too. The refs are fair, the prices are great. Also if you get hungry while you're there, no problem, they have the best Italian food there is. If you're looking to have fun, this is the place. GREAT field to play at, GREAT staff, GREAT food. They also have rilfe, pistol, and the paintball field doubles as a skeet range during dove season. Overall, great place to play, wanna have fun? Go here!
Maybe it was a bad day to visit so I will rate accordingly. Showed up to play and had to wait for nearly hour before anyone else showed to play. I know thats not the fields fault but we drove a good distance and it was a weekend game - weather was good. Other than that - we had a blast!
Field was a bit small for our taste but ok ... sells shop was set up super nicely. The guy running the play was excellent help - seemed to know just about everything there was to know about markers. Prices were fair - field fee was fair.
As always , you may like it better than we did so go try it out and see what cha think. Overall I'd rate it about B+ ... not to fancy - just paintball ... and afterall , isn't that the point!
Mt. Doom, PBQ, Whition(nice field, still new) many others
This is a nice place, if youve been there for at least a year, maybe less they know you by first name. Dan is really nice, he a very good guy, likes to see people happy. Rick is good at working on guns, good guy to chat about paintball to, knows alot about paintball, especially all the technical stuff, I've learned alot from him. The women that cook the food(sorry, forgot names) very nice, and the food is AWESOME! I suggest the Quick Pizza. Ronnie(the ref) is a fun guy to talk to, we like to joke around alot. The field is small, hasnt been moved around lately, but its still fun, its on a hill, but the field is layed out so its challenging on both sides, but the bottom side has the sun advantage becuase its behind you, and if your on top, you cant see out the right side of about all the bunkers. I just wish the guy that owns the pasture behind it would sell some of the land so they could get a couple more fields. Good place to play, I guess you could consider me a local, but I'm not as good as some of 'em we mix the newer players and the regulars together, but Ronnie tries to keep it as even as possible.
