Hogans Alley - FAR BETTER FIELD than Splatter Zone. And its only about 15 minutes away, for my money im going there because it has more than one good field and cost the same for 3x longer the playing time |

None of these stories or occurrences are made up.
-The prices may seem to be fair when looking at their website but beyond that this field is ridiculous in pricing. I was charged $4 for 4 AA batteries.... Not only that but it says that paint is $55 a case on the website, which is a lie. I handed the guy $55 and then he goes, "No it’s an extra 5." than I ask why and he says "we gotta keep the lights running," and then "paintball is an expensive sport, it cost a lot of money." (I was holding a Shocker, and I had paintball pants, as well as a jersey on...) That’s fine and all that paint is $60, but don’t false advertise...
-The tech they have knows virtually nothing specific to Smart Parts guns, which is a problem when you are a tech. I had a problem with my shocker's airflow so I tell him that I think it’s the air manifold, but I wasn’t sure how to adjust it because I didn't have the manual with me. His first comment was "Well, your first problem is that its smart parts...." (I think that speaks for its self) Than he proceeds to tell me that I should never try to adjust the manifold (THE ENTIRE PURPOSE OF BUYING A MANIFOLD IS TO ADJUST IT). I walked away after he told me that one...(I later figured out that it was my dwell setting by reading the shocker manual. I had practically read him a list of symptoms of an incorrect dwell setting.)
- The field is crammed into a space that is far too small for its needed purpose. However, the turf that they use is really nice for sliding, but you can still run fast on it, really good stuff.
- The refs are completely biased to their team. The refs are all members of the factory team of the place. They put 2 of their team members against 5 little new kids that were using rentals. They destroyed them the first game they played and the kids were having a terrible time. So then I asked if I could join the rental team and they told me no. Why I ask, and he says "we're practicing." (The team got 15th place in the tournament at Hogan’s, wonder why....)
Heres what happened when I played them. The ref was standing right next to one of his fellow teammates that was playing against me (and coaching him). I hit him directly in the arm on the side facing the ref....the kid wipes the paint (RIGHT IN THE VIEW OF THE "REF") and continues playing.
Hogan’s is 15 minutes away from this field, I’m going there.

Hogans Alley, Hogans has a different feel. Because of how large it is you have a very large crossection of expierience. The Refs are very good and the play is very good as well. Multiple fields keep it new. |

I have been to Splatter Zone twice in the past 2 months and I had a great time both days. The artificial turf took a little getting used to, but if you have a good pair of cleats, no problem. The competition is great. I have limited paintball expierience, but as in life, the only way to get better at something is if you go up against the best. Most people that go to splatterzone are serious about there paintball. Games are fast! Once you get the lay of the land, minor adjustments are all you need. The size of the field is what I like to call an equalizer. Anyone with some smarts, guts, and a decent marker can be competitive on this field. I had no problem getting in 20 games in a 3 hour period, which is what I catagorize as a pretty good day. The one con is that safety is a little laxed. For the most part the veterans on the field point out unsafe conditions and police themselves. Not much bonus balling or cheating. $70 gets you a case of paint, all day admission, & all day air. |

Well Lets say its a fun place when you can play. I went there on a Sunday and let me say i played only 4 5min rounds in over 2 hours....what a cluster mess.
They had a private b' day party two different teams that wanted to scrimage and then there were the other walkons like myself.
It would seem as if your not there with a TEAM that is SPONSERED then your the last pic to play. The place was overrun with Teams and were not friendly to walkons.
It was a fun and fast time when i did got on the field.
The refs were not very attentive to the round playing. More interested to chat with the friends.
Speedball is speedball granted but lets say overshoot much.....!
I got welted six times by some dude with in 5 feet . 1-2-3 ok but 6!! He almost got beat down. And the ref said nothing....because the kid that got me worked there.
Not only am I writing this review but I am also going to send the owner a nasty gram

Overall, I thought this was a really good field. Heres some pros and cons
Cons -
Very poor reffing. They did nothing to organize teams, which meant new players were going up against pros. Refs didnt watch the games for the most part, so people were responsible for calling themselves out(and sometimes didn't). And most of the refs were very young, meaning they had trouble acting official. No briefing whatsoever, meaning new players dont find out basic stuff (barrel condom on!) until someone catches them breaking a rule.
Field layout - the field seemed pretty sparse. The lack of obstacles meant there wasn't much player movement and kinda took some of the fun strategy elements out of the game.
Dead zone - They hung up nets in the back of the field, and after you are out you just run to the back and stand behind the nets. Doesn't work too well, and you end up getting shot more when you are out then when your playing.
Pros -
Some of the best attitudes I've seen in paintball. The people and staff all treated us like old friends. They were very attentive and helpful if we needed anything, and I even got some repairs done. Despite the young age of many employees, the staff really knew what they were talking about. The play was very competitive, making it a bad place for newbies but a great place to test your skill.
Paint - Good paint, and pretty cheap too.
Game speed - they pretty much always had a game running. Once things got going, I never had to wait more then five minutes before I was out on the field.
I went on a Sunday, so things might be different on different days. Overall this is a great place if you know what you are doing. If you are a beginner, I would reccomend a different field.

usually when i go to this Field it is great good competition and good reffing. unfortunately today was very different. the teams were very stacked due to the fact that more then half the people that play there are on the factory team. that brings me to my next point, almost every other game was reserved for only the factory team and the other games were played by whoever wanted to including the factory players that just got off the field. The sidelines have two netted windows where people coach from. THAT'S TERRIBLE!! its one thing if your coaching the team to prepare for xball but when its rec. ball there should be no talking from spectators. the people on the sidelines were telling all there friends where people were, which direction they were looking and when they were looking out. NOT COOL!. another problem is that the ref that was filling the tanks was too busy talking to his friends to bother filling tanks. over all i was very unsatisfied. im sure this will be disputed but that okay because there's a very high chance the the disputer is a player on the team or a worker at the field. im usually very happy with playing at splater zone but i dont know what it was today but it was one of the worst paintball experiecnes ive had. |

I am a woodsball/scenario player and have only played speedball a couple of times at Eastern Paintball's field in Branford. After a cold rainy Friday I was itchy to shoot someone so I called up my brother and we headed down to Milford to try indoor paintball. What a blast. The field there is awesome. It is well lit and comfortable. They have a large staging area a nice pro shop. They also have a snack bar and a big video game area with a tv and a pool table.
The turf was really nice and easy to slide on. The bunkers were held in place solidly with sandbags and didn't deflate like I have seen them do at other fields. There were also no obstacles to watch out for like columns or pillars that I have heard of at other indoor fields.
The owners were super nice and the refs were excellent at keeping everything safe and fair and making sure everyone was having fun.
I was especially happy to see that the refs were checking each marker at the crono before anyone went onto the field. The Big fields like Skirmish in PA do this, but most little fields I've been to leave it up to the player to check and someone is always shooting hot. |

It was cold and I was invited by friends to try this place out. This place is tight. The speed of this field in incredible it took me at least 4 games to get used to the set up. We had a chance early on to play with their sponsored team. These guys were incredible. After one of them took me out he ran up to me to make sure I was OK and then told me what I was doing wrong, he was actually coaching me for free. It turns out that some or all of their players are also employees of the field. I have NEVER seen better reffing. I only wish that the field was a little bigger so that old guys like me (50) have a better chance to hide.
I am giving this field a 10 just because of the impressive way it is run.| Last edited on Friday, February 23rd, 2007 at 1:04 pm PST |

The field is small, but 5 v 5 is absolutely possible. The turf is from a football field and is very easy to slide on. They keep it raked as often as they can durring the day, so you can get away with wearing sneakers if you have too.
They have a tv and video games like at arcades and xbox too.
The staging area is pretty big, theres tables. You dont have to leave to get a fill, you just go to a window and they do it for you.
The paint I used was empire inertia, they sold it to everyone that day, and its really top shelf. breaks on people, not on bolts. its $70 a case, not too bad for what you get.
Entrance is $15 for a 4 hour session or 20 for all day on Saturday. The good thing is the games are so fast and you play so many games that one case lasts you a long time if you dont go trigger happy.
It wasnt busy when i went but the refs told me if it is busy, they make people get teams of 5 and run it sort of like a tournament, each team plays a game or two and then the next two teams get to play.
The store is pretty nice, i saw lots of dye/proto gear, theres also some v-force, events and more, i didnt take time to look around the shop.
Best field ive ever been too, im going again to play for 11 hours someday |

I love Splaterzone!!!
Store- The store had a good amount of things it mostly was a matrix seller but had some other none proto and dye products
Paint- I used Empire Interia which is the best Emprie paint they make, I paid $70
If you plan to share a case of paint it is $80
Entry- It's $15 for 4 hours and $20 for all day. I went on a saturday and it was open from 10-9 or somthing and if you played all day it would be 11 hours of paintball!
Feild- The turf is accutally football turf you can see the yard line painted in a white stripe. The bunkers are old but never deflated and were in great care as you can see on there website.
Basically I love splaterzone it's a great place and I will deff go there again!

I visited this field over winter break. I went Friday from 6-10 pm. It was a pretty safe field. FPS limit was 270, which is high for the size of the field. My group was not given a safety briefing like at other fields, but most fields dont give them to us because we are more experienced. I did not notice the other people getting briefed though. They have one SMALL field. It has KAPP bunkers (so yes its old bunkers that deflate after a while). For those that dont know, KAPP went out of business a really long time ago. The astro turf is unberlievable. Its the only reason I ended up going here. It is real turf like the stuff that is used in Gillete stadium. It felt really nice to slide on and you could go pretty far. I would reccomend cleats (no metal). Prices are pretty bad. I spent a lot more than I usually do and the paint kept breaking in my barrel and everyone elses. The proshop was very nice. They carry a lot of Dye/Proto gear and some Smart Parts stuff. Staff was pretty helpful. The person who kept filling my tank was very polite and said please/thank you when I handed my gun to him. They had a kitchen w/ water and a grill. It was very hot inside, so you tended to buy drinks from them. They had bathrooms and also a lounge to play x-box and watch movies. I give it a 7 because I've seen better out of an indoor field |
