I went to this field with a group of friends for a bachelor party and we had a great time. The only thing nicer than the fields were the people running them. Everyone was very friendly and accomodating doing whatever they could to ensure we had a great time. Our whole group will definitely be back there sometime. |

Directions to the Field: |
If you are coming from the south take SR 29 North to the 35/24 bypass until you get to the SR 25 exit. Take SR 25 North into Logansport. SR 25 will take you across the Wabash River. The first left is Wabash Ave. Take this back south. This is the road that Catfish Lake is on. You will drive past a Waste Water Treatment Plant on the right.

First the positives (and there are many): 1. The staff at Catfish were excellent! They opened fifteen minutes early just because we got there early. The check in process was smooth and friendly. They made us feel very welcome. One of our group didn't use his units from his Nitrogen card and they actually refunded some of his money! They also were running some fun promotional things that made you feel like you were a part of the team. 2. The refs were fabulous. They were very good at emphasizing safety rules. They also were helpful at coaching guys during and after games. Some of our guys got really helpful training on paintball techniques. The refs were pretty flexible with the rules. Since there were so few of us they let us play that only shots above the waist counted. They gave us the option of using the 10 ft surrender rule or bunkering. Everyone had to agree if you were going to allow bunkering. Also they were just good guys to talk to. They all play for the Exarches team that is sponsored by the field. So they had great paintball war stories. Also they were just fun loving. They made the day a very positive experience even for my 40 something brother-in-law who was playing paintball for the first time in 15 years or so. 3. The ref/gun tech went way beyond the call of duty to help us when one of our markers messed up. They loaned us field tanks to check to see if it was just the CO2 pin etc. They never charged me. I would have been happy to pay for the time. My son and I had some problem when our adjustment screws kept coming loose while we were playing. They were very helpful in helping us with this. 4. The fields were pretty cool. We played the Woods/Fort field first. It was well conceived. There was a great variety of bunkers. There were some lumber (4x4 posts with plywood) bunkers. There were some spools. There were some tire bunkers. And I think there were a few plastic field tile bunkers. The fort itself had some bunkers inside it. It was basically a single level fort though. The field itself was down in a little valley, so it was easy to watch the games form the ridge. There was another woods field that was off limits because they said it was messed up by some flood earlier in the year. The other field that we played was the X ball field. Again it was conceived very well. The snake was just like the NPPL tourney lay outs. You could really rock from it. There were some pretty intense one on one battles in the snake while we played. There were plenty of Doritos and temples for good cover as well. One on my nephews was sort of afraid to play speedball before we came. He ended the day loving it. 5. The prices were VERY fair. They allow you to pay a BYOP fee. Since we buy paint in four case bulk purchases it saves us allot of money to bring our own. Because it was "off season" (or just because the staff was wanting to be nice to us first time visitors) they only charged us $5.00 for the field fee. It is usually $10. All day air was $5. My son and I looked around the pro shop and all of their prices were very reasonable. Field paint was $35/case. The rental markers were BT4's. They looked like they were well maintained.
The Negative: 1. The two paintball fields were pretty far apart. To get to the Woods/Fort field you had to drive down a dirt path to a different staging area. This field is also pretty far away from the main building where they do the CO2 refills, gun repairs, bathrooms, etc. They compensated for this by allowing us to use their field CO2 cannisters if we ran out of CO2, so it wasn't any big deal. We didn't start having marker problems until we moved to the Xball field, so it didn't ruin our day, but the potential is there. Some of the bunkers on the Fort /Woods field needed some repairs. The fort itself was missing a few boards, but that actually made it a little more fun with cracks to shoot through. 2. The field is sort of hard to find. The Mapquest directions take you to a county road I could never find. Going in off of SR 25 to Wabash Ave. is much easier even if you have to back track a little.
All in all-it was probably to best day of paintballing I have had at an outdoor field. Take your whole family. There is something for everyone to do there.| Last edited on Monday, October 22nd, 2007 at 10:07 am PST |

catfish lake was a real blast. we had our woodsball team MWD there the 28th. funy thing is, we were the ONLY ones playing paintball there (they have fishing, golfing too) they have 3 paintball fields; the Fort Field, a airball field, and a randomness open field. fort is the best. the staff is great, friendly. hours are good from like noon ta 8ish. good field. goto sycamore sports for speedball play, and catfish for woodsball play. |

Catfish Lake is the best paintball i've played. they have 3 fields; an airball field, a Fort field, and a pretty open field with a camper u can get into. The best field we played is the Fort. it is a pretty good size and the field around it is really large. The Refs at Catfish are awesome. They let you play whatever u want. The prices there are pretty good. I payed 100 for a Gold membership (see www.catfishlake.net) and i know it was worth it. They sell Nel-Splat paint, which is very good at 35 a case. All day air is 5 dollars. FPS is around 265 for open players. There is a 10 ft. rule if u want it, u can bunker if u ask. Overall, Catfish Lake is AWESOME. |

Catfish lake is THE best field i've played at so far. The reffing is impecable. They're definietly not afraid to get down and take some shots to paint check a player. The new speedball field is awesome and the woods fields are totally fun. If you're going to play somewhere go to catfish lake you won't regret. It's also home of Team Exarch which is a very good rookie team that plays in the CTS and they do most of the reffing. The prices are fair and the rental equipment is very good. Check out Catfish Lake!!! |

The only field I have to compare this one to locally is Dark Armies in Indy. The staff at the lake are alot more friendly, the prices are way better. Its outdoors, with a tire field and a fort style field. The fort could use a little work, but overall its ok...they said they were working on a woods field, however it was not open when I was there. I had a private party there and we had an awsome time. The refs lined us up with a few games, then pretty much let us do what we wanted, which was nice. Not really any kind of staging area, the feilds are down this short little dirt road from the office, so if you need paint get it while your there, it will save you a trip. Nice rental guns, tippmann 98 customs, they also broke out some brand new guns while we were there.I give them a 7 out of 10. With a little more work, it could easily be a 9 |

I found Catfish Lake in Logansport Indiana to be a really nice place. They treated me and my friends well and we had a great time.
They're putting in new tire field that will be great once it's done. We played on the speedball field and in the woods and both were great. It's nice to have a building to go to when its raining.
Shop had adequate stuff and I bought a few things there. They had the ICC and the CTS tournaments this past summer and they were both great. |

I have been to the Blast Factory in Kokomo and Catfish Lake hardly compare. |

-Catfish reffs can't call anything good (ex..I shot a guy once and called paintcheck on him and they ran over to me and checked me and he just wiped it off and kept playing)
-Random players enter the game at random times. (ex..I was once under fire by about 3 guys and well let me tell you they were about to get owned when all of a sudden this obese guy came running at me and started shooting at me from the staging area. He did hit me though. I had nothing to do but look at him and threw my hands in the air and he repetedly shot me as i called myself out
-Their pro-shop (if you can call it that) has about 2 guns that are entirely over priced and not much else.
-The reffs favour player they know.
-The first time i went paintballing, while i was sitting in the staging area (30 feet from the field with no nets protecting) I was shot in the chest from a stray ball while my mask was off. I confronted the reff about this after the match and he just shrugged it off.
-If you get there anytime past open play, they will not chrono your gun.
- The workers in the 'pro-shop' know more about breast feeding a child than paintballing..
-I had my C02 refilled once and they broke my valve.
-I sent my 20 oz C02 up to the 'pro-shop' to be filled because i had all day air and when they came back they couldn't find my tank.
-In their woods courses, their bunkers are poorly constructed as I've seen them fall down because of wind.
-Just as a test, I took my mask off and had plenty of time to clean the inside of the lense and get back to playing and no reff had even seen. (10 minutes no mask)
-Between games there is about 30 minutes of lay-off time
-People can leave the course and re-enter and reffs never say a thing.
-On the course at any given moment there are roughly 1-2 reffs on a 50 yard diameter course.
-If you bring your own balls, there is actually a fee.
-For a private game, it costs $150 for a 2 hour session with about 3 games.
-It takes roughly an hour by the time i get there to the time the reffs want to start.
-If you need air and you don't have a ride it takes about 30 minutes to just to get back to the 'pro-shop'
-They don't confront you about firing in the staging area.
-Equipment gets stolen all the time from other players. 50% of the time I'm there iI hear someone complain about stolen goods and the reffs do nothing about it. |

This was the first time that I have played in Indiana. A friend and I drove 3 hours to meet some Jaycees there and it was worth every minute. We played three different fields for about 5 hours. I have never played a speed field before and it was a lot of fun. The woods were better. They have three fields at the wooded area.
the staff was very helpful. They kept reminding us about barrel plugs and facemasks. Everyone was required to chrono their guns before starting.
Overall, the prices were great and so was the day. |
