Review: I WILL LIST THE PROS AND CONS OF NORTHSIDE SPORTS PARK AT THE BOTTOM BUT IF YOU WOULD LIKE MORE DETAIL ON THE FIELD'S PROS AND CONS READ THE MAIN SUMMARY.

Northside Sports Park is not the biggest paintball place that I have visited, but it has a bit to offer. When we went there, they had four fields, two of which were set up. There is a rather large field called the trenches for the simple fact that it has trenches winding throughout the field along with many homemade bunkers that are made out of stacks of tires, palettes, and even some made of would with little ledges to climb on to get a height advantage. I could play on this field all day and be satisfied, the trenches is one of the better fields I've played on.

The second field that they had set up was very similar to the trenches except its about a third the size and it has no trenches, just similar bunkers. This other field is also quite fun to play at. On top of these two fields, there are also two speedball fields that use those inflated bunkers, but none of the bunkers were filled up the whole time we were there.

Aside from the fields which were a very nice change from normal speedball and woodsball, the place was a little sub par. It wasn't that the place was bad, it was just obvious that a bit of the employees didn't care as much as they should. My first example is there chrono station, which was just a little range where you test to make sure that your gun is not shooting over 300 feet per second. So far this is just like any other place but not once did I see an employee checking the chrono to make sure that people were actually shooting what they said they were. With this, someone could have easily been shooting at dangerously high speeds but lied saying that they were legal because no one would check.

Another downside to this field is that the refs seemed to be more interested in showing off their new gun and talking with the other refs than actually getting a game going. Many times we found ourselves asking the refs multiple times to get a game started or even just come out and start a game for us and they still might not even come to help us. Eventually we actually asked the refs if we could just go out and play on the fields without the refs because they wouldn't do anything, which they let us do, but if we wanted to play with just the friends we came with on a field with no supervision we would of just gone to a field out in the country for free.

PROS:
-average pricing
-four great field ideas two of which are different than your average woodsball and speedball
-not too far from the twin cities
-R/C car race track which can be fun to watch when theres downtime
-well stocked pro shop

CONS:
-very lazy refs that you have to bug to get a game started
-UNMONITORED chrono so people could be shooting at any speed they want
-not many groups would play together so expect to play with only the people you came with a quite a bit
-a lot of downtime to watch the R/C car races

So in conclusion, don't turn this field down, the trenches field makes it worth it. Do expect to go and play with the thought in mind that you might only play with only your group for many games. Also you'll have to play the honor system with the chrono machine because be honest, you don't want to get shot by a paintball going 400 feet per second anymore than the next guy. One last thing if you go with a decent size group and monitor your playing yourself, you will have a great day of paintball. I gave this field a 6 because its a great field but it lacks the amenities that are normal for a field that you pay for, A.K.A. the CONS.

Review: They mostly hosted speed ball fields with the exception of the trench field. We're a woods ball team and playing on a urban field like this was quite different.

The trench field has got to be one of the best field ever made. Trenches goes around the whole field and there is good field coverage on the course. Pictures looked iffy but once your on the field, the perception changes everything about it.

Its an awsome field. You will not be disappointed in playing on this field. Coverage from bunkers, tower, forts and ditches.

Customer service was excellent. A+++. They accomidated us for what ever we needed and what ever question we had.

Thanks Vincent

Review: This is a very nice run field / pro shop. They have a couple of speedball fields and a large trench field. I go there to play on the trench field. Lots of different bunkers and other objects to hide behind and the trenches go all the way around the field and through it in a couple different places. It is one of my favorite fields to play at. The pro shop was very good for me the couple times I have used it. There is nice netting up around the speedball fields so that spectators can watch safely. i would and have recommend this field to other players.

Review: First off the staff is great, they also have a really nice pro shop were you can find all your pball needs. They have a few fields a couple of speedball and on trench. By far the trench is one of the best fields I have played, there are so many different ways to go and a lot of bunkers above them. There is also a two story tower right in the middle of the field.
If your looking for something a little different give it a try. 9/10

Review: Out of all the fields I've been to I recommend Northside everytime, I went there for the first time way way long ago *I havnt played for 2 years continuessly I am estimating about 2 years ago I went for the first time* when it was under old managment. At that time it was ok. New managment steps in and has blown my mind, great staff, refs you guys rock, fun-to-be -around regulars that you will get to know very quickly and enjoy playing with.

Fields, wethere you like running through a trench, or maybe hiding in a shack and reliving army days, or slamming into a giant Xball 'X', They have it all!!! The rec field is a fairly large opened area, Trenches that were dug 6 feet deep *I am sure rain will shift some dirt and make it 5 feet* Surrounding the entire field and connecting in the middle, with large shacks built around the edges and 1 in the middle. The speedball course is perfect! watch out sliding into some spots though, because usual wear and tear on the ground patchs of dirt can turn into a disaster if you slide and get your gun covered in dirt.

Staff and refs, these guys are just awsome. From vince who, if you play at all there you will meet, to all the refs, they give 110% everyday to ensure you have fun and remain safe. On a few occasions now I have been lent equipment *nitro mainly* for no charge.

Overall, Wether your child is having a birthday party and has never played before, or your a highly experienced speedball player, EVERYTHING you need is at northside.

Review: I recently played a tourney on this field so I could not really judge the paint that was used...

Field: They had 3 different fields one for rec ballers and two air fields both air fields were good sized and the setup was great. Only problem I had was the sand and dust getting in my trigger and making it stick.

Pro Shop: They have a fairly new proshop that kicks some a's, it's rougly the same size as FSL's but it doesn't have many high end guns there

Field Sponsored teams: I hung out with one of the field sponsored teams and they are all great guys and represent paintball well on and off the field and unlike FSL's field team they don't wipe!

Review: This place was bad as Diehard but now that the new owners are in place they changed to Northside sports park and it is very good, the owner is a very good guy and i chat with him alot, the refs are good unlike fsl they checked you and dont let people bonus ball you intensively. One time i went there and i didnt have a hopper and one of the owners let me borrow he reloader b. The price are cheap and on fridays they have bring your own paint but i would rather you there reasonbly priced paint rather than walmart. The only down side is that it doesnt have lights so if you are there at night it is incredibly hard to play.

Review: All I can say is wow...
This place was great before and know for the '04 season, this place is totally awesome... they currently have an xball field, regular airball, a rec field with mini castles, and a hyperball field. The netting has been fixed so you can watch from anywhere without fear of being hit, just watch out for splatter. These fields are the home to THE best paintball players in and around MN, Team Ignition (as well as others). You'll find these guys there almost every day of the week playing, so if its tough competition you want, this is the place. Also there are plenty of easier walk on speedball and rec games if thats your thing.
The pro shop has been renovated over the winter and is mindblowing...with track lighting and brushed aluminum display cases, it looks like it should be a jewely store instead... There selection is great, with Dark timmys and DM4's on down to M16 style tippmanns. Thet have everything you need to play, at any level, they even sell stuff like mines and paint-bazookas. They also have regular clothing (paintball brands) like t shirts, hats, and stuff. The service is great and the people are even better, and the prices are comparable to the internet (but w/o the shipping). The only thing lacking a bit is in tech work, these guys know there basics, but I'd have to say FSL has better techs- especially for timmys, matrix's and other high end guns.
Now they even have a mini bike track (little motorcycles) these things are insane, I haven't tried one yet, but they say the bikes can go almost 40mph.
So if you want a first-rate field/pro shop with good pricing and great people, check out Northside Sports, but if top quality isn't your thing... though

Review: I wasn't going to post on this place until I read the reviews beneath me. I think Wally and Mike run a great place. Yes they do rip on other fields! Everyone does! It's part of Minnesota's political mess. It's people like the idiot under me that start things going. First of all Satan doesn't work at FSL anymore and FSL's Pro-Shop is way bigger than Northside. They had over $12K in markers on the wall last time I was there. But it doesn't matter. If you want great outdoor play go to Northside. They do have probably the best place outdoor for MN players. They have a good staff and other things to do like mini golf. If you want a great indoor go to FSL. They are by far the best. Don't compare the two. They're different. Plus FSL's Air Smiths are the best in the state. When Wallys players go to FSL to get their Timmys fixed we know where the best are. I'll give Northside a better score when the idiot under me retracts his stupid political comments. Out of fairness to northside I retract my one rating. It's not fair to the field giving them a bad review for the idiot below me statement. But it's reviews that have no value to them that make this site a bit unfair!!! I'd give it a ten but I feel they need a better air system. During a tournament the lines are long. Other than that it's a great place to play.
