I give Planet Paintball a 3/10
they are "closed for revavation" right now and have been for about a year
the refs were bad and did nothing
the pro shop was almost never open
only one of there feilds were open
the pricing was bad FOR THEM not bad for other larger places like Boston Paintball
they were also very messy with non-paintball related trash
i went there only because they were close but would never go there again
oh ya THERE CLOSED AND OUT OF BUSNISS

Good Field, great that they were open firdays, prices were ok, shop could be better, refs could be better, good field though, lots of people go there, crowded during the BYOP nights, food is ok, Free Fridays was a must with field paint only. Good choice of paint. Overall i give it a 6, there is room for improvement |

Only the fields that my friends own, mostly places off in the woods. And those were much better than here. |

Wow. That's all I have to say. It was probably the most horrible painting expierence I've ever had. Everyone cheated, the refs made bad calls, no one followed rules or anything. Some people may think I don't like this place becasue I'm a woodsballer, but I'm always up for new things. And other than those, it was alright. Except that it was very filthy.
When I painted there, I was flanked becasue my rear-man was taken out. There is no problem with that, the only problem was that I was flanked and shot twelve times, from two feet, by a marker on nitro. And I was pretty pissed, th ref didn't care. Even though they said no shots closer than five feet, or ten feet or someting. And what was worse was that the ref was six feet away. Dude I couldn't sit down for a days. Also, another thing I notice was that the place was filthy, trash was everywhere! And I don't mean paintball related trash, I mean like bottles and wrapers from food. So they didn't clean up to well.
But altogether, it was alright. It was well organized, just not enforced. It's good for speedballers, and woodsballers trying something new. But not a place I would go again. |

Overall, I would say Planet Paintball does a pretty good job with how they run things. Most of the staff is kind, games go pretty fast, and they are really big on saftey. However, there are a few areas which Planet Paintball could improve on.
Saftey- Really good. The refs always remind people to put their barrel covers on, and if you don't, well, you get yelled at. I forgot to put it on a few times leaving the field and got yelled at each time, but I guess that's a good thing because they are stressing saftey.
Fields- There are two fields, but each time I have been there, only one has been open, and I think the closed field may be converted to an airsoft field. The quality of the field isn't so great though. You can always tell that the staff never cleans the day's paint from the field, and is therefore left for the next day which basicaly means that every time you go for a slide, you'll get covered in paint. Some of the bunkers are a little flimsey as well.
Prices- Expensive. At least most of the time. It's $65 for a box of paint with 2000 balls in it, which is very overpriced, but Wednesdays and Thursdays are BYOP (Bring Your Own Paint) and the field paint is much cheaper. (Maybe $30 or so)
Proshop- Each time I've been there, it's been closed so I can't really give a review on that.
Refs- It really depends upon which day you go and what time you go at. Sometimes you'll get a peice of crap ref that just stands on the side, and sometimes you'll get a ref that checks for breaks. Usually, near closing time, the reffing gets worse, so I would recomend going during the day.
Players- There are always a variety of players there, so it doesn't really matter what kind of experience you have; you'll get to play and won't feel embaressed. On Wednesdays and Thursdays though, there's usually more experienced players there, including teams because it's BYOP.
Facilities- I've used the men's room once. It's kinda small but it does the trick. I believe thay also have a few changing rooms, which are always good considering that you'll be covered in paint at the end of the day due to the exessive amount of paint on the field.
Food- There are a few vending machines there, but there's also a Sal's Pizza across the street, which is pretty good. And from what I've heard, you can go there completely covered in paint, and they'll still seat you.
So overall, I would give this field a 7/10. They reffing, condition of the field(s), and the fact that the proshop is never open could be improved. |

I went to this field today with a friend and overall I would have to say that it is pretty good. We got there right as it opened (noon), and waited around a little bit before we checked in. The manager wasn't there when we got there, so it was a little slow, but once she arrived, and some other kids, we began to get our gear together and wait for a game to begin. There seemed like a pro team that was there, and they were playing a lot, so we weren't sure what do exactly do, so we grabbed our gear and stood by the window and watched the game, which was fast paced and good. A ref walked up and said that he would get them off the field so we could have the next game, and he did exactly that. The ref was very good, enforced safety and made sure that everyone was playing fair. The people I played with were very good too, they were very honest and included me and my friend into their games, even though they didn't know us at all. I was having a few problems with my rental gun (as mine was at home, needed to get some stuff for it), and the staff at the rental area was very professional, checked the problem and then gave me a new gun. The ref even let me and my friend do a 1-on-1 match, stating "sure, there is an open field there, lets go", he seemed very happy to be working there and did his job well. All in all, this was a very good experience for someone (me) who has never played indoor ball before.
I would defiantly suggest this place to anyone who is looking for a good indoor course. |

okay ill just cover everything that the description says to cover
safety: terrible. Nobody even cared if anybody got chronoed. The course limit is something like 260 and i know that most people didnt have it anywhere close to there. I went about two or three weeks ago and i still have bruises from paint.(not a big deal) The one thing i was mad about tho is that there was this little kid there and the refs didnt care that he was puting this kid up against guys that probably play in tornys a lot.
fields: below average. there are two fields there. one is tiny and all of the bunkers were deflated anyways. that one was off limits. the second field isnt that small tho. its ok.
i dont know the hours of operation
prices: above average. i think it is 65 or so for a case. its really way too expensive to get in tho. $25 for a really mediocre course isnt that good. canobie is the same price and theres ppl of all levels and many field choices.
rules: below average. they do enforce barrel bags with a passion. i didnt even have air on my gun and they yelled at me for not having a barrel bag on. it kinda pissed me off. I had just chopped like 4 strait balls and i had to stop playing for the rest of the night to clean the thing. the thing that really made me mad was the lack of chronoing. pretty poor
services: below average. i walked in to get greeted by a fat lady behind a desk. she wasnt cool. she just wasnt the nicest lady around. then i went to get a fill. the guy hung it up and attached the tank then he walked away. he went and talked to some dude for probably five minutes. i thought the thing was gonna blow up. then he came back, didnt even check the weight, and gave it back to me.
proshop:poor. wasnt even open when i was there.
staff: poor. i already told ya about the fat lady and the forgetful tank guy
refs: good. the refs werent exactly friendly and they didnt exactly make good teams but they did follow the action pretty well. they checked paint when it was called for and did a good job.
players:very good. when i was there there were three groups of skill level. a little kid with a rental-2ppl. my level(i play woodsball a lot-intermediate)-5ppl. the hardcore ppl with egos and crap-10ish ppl
facilities: good. didnt use em but theyre there i guess
food:above average. they have a sals across the parking lot and they have a snack machine(with potato skins : )
ill add one too
fun: above average. id give fun a 7 or so because it looked like the hardcore guys had a lot of fun. it kind of left out the terrible ppl and me and my friends tho. the refs only let us have one game of just us.
ill probably never go back. i was going to give it a 5 but i think ill give it a 6.5 because all of the hardcore ppl were having a good time. if i were just going on my preferences i would give it a 5 tho.

Played on a Thursday night which was BYOP, but they were selling cases of Stinger for $35 a case. Air/field fee was $25 altogether. Not bad pricing. Paint seemed fresh and didn't have any problems with breaks. Only one field was in use and the players were a mix of experienced and novices, with some younger kids thrown in. Registration was pretty quick and they chrono every gun at the airstation to ensure they're under the limit of 260. Refs kept the games moving along and tried to mix up the teams for better balance. Teams would play one game and then turn it around for a quick second game before the teams would then leave the field for another set of players to play. The field itself was messy and many of the bunkers needed to have air pumped into them every 2nd or 3rd game which slowed down the pace some, but not too badly. If you did any sliding (which happened often since the bunkers were rather small), you would come up covered in loose paint. It's an indoor field, so that will be expected, but this seemed on the messier side than usual - it didn't look like the field had been cleaned from the previous night, and I arrived pretty early on Thursday, so it certainly wasn't from that day of play. Field was rather small and play was limited due to teams of 8 or more on each side on a 3 Man field at best. Refilling tanks was the worst part of play, with no one manning the refill station on 2 occurrences that I directly encountered. They do fill to 4500 psi though. Refs did do some paint checks instead of just standing to the side and generally did a good job of calling people out and starting the games. Overall, not a bad experience, but size and condition of the field, plus the slow air fills could be improved. |

Planet Paintball is where my heart is for playing, hanging out and Learning all about the sport. There is no place that I am more comfortable at and its all because of the staff. they're friendly, funny, and just plain good at what they need to do ( some of them). Yeah there are slackes... but in what business aren't there? The lighting is going to be improved in the next 78 hours, and the fields and bunkers have been cleaned alot more frequently than before.. The reff's are in the process of being trained to NEPL standards. The place is a great local place, and I will forever support it untill it crashes and burns. People complain alot about petty little mistakes that people make. Anyways, Planet is due for a few major Improvements, and with the winter rush business they'll get from tourneys and just team night practices, those improvements, may become a reality. I support planet to the fullest, its like a second home for real to me, and I love everyone that works there.

We went there last Saturday with a couple of my friends. Awesome time. Haven't been there since last winter. We ended up playing around 15 games over 3 1/2 hrs. with a bunch of different players
Prices were reasonable and the fields were very clean for an indoor field
The refs seem to do their jobs and control the game and let us play some 3 on 3s, they were all over a group of kids who kept leaving their barrel bags off, I guess its good for safety.
We will all be back soon.

I played at planet paintball every two weeks or so.The last time before i played Planet was back in May '06.Back in May the field was awreak it looked like nothing being done to it. I revisit Planet back in Sept. '06 and notice really no change except for the staff .
I walked in and the place was clean and there was few players there. The staff that was there was friendly nice people to talked too. They quickly check you in at the registration desk. One thing i notice that they did make you watch the safety video like they did i the pass.
The equipment room guys where friend and quick to fill my tank and chrono my marker.
The field and refs.....Well how can i say this the nice way......The field is a mess i have notice that the carpet are starting to be kept clean, compare to it was back in May....The bunker suck they replace them back last year with yellow and back one that are still in good shape , but the red and black one are garbage they need to be replace ..the ref have to refill them every game or until some complain about them being to low....Te light still suck....on their web site and i know few people who got e-mail from them saying they improved ight and raise the nets....neither one of them been done.
As for the refs they are little slacked on safety......i notice few time when layer would walk off the field and have no barrel bags on....they are good on keeping the mask safety in checked.....as for games and paint check and calling people out....they a need to go to school or get someone that now what they are doing....Ref don't move around they stand in one spot and that it and if you call paint check or yell at them to check someone you got to hit them to make them move.
The only other problem i have is paint.....It suppose to be field paint only on Friday,Saturdays and sunday...the last few time i been in there i notice people using non-field paint....Rampage is field choice which is ok paint, but when you get hit by different color you know it not field paint, also when did they start selling store paint for field paint (ie. premium).
I know this was long, but maybe the owner will read this and fixed the problems, before something bad happens.
I give 6 for now, if things improve i will review and change my rating. |
