I recently moved to Valdosta from New Mexico and was looking for a place to play paintball and I found Splatter Swamp.
Splatter Swamp has just finished a complete overhaul of their fields. Currently they have the following; A SupAir Field - Capable of handling 3- 5- and 7-Man play, 2 Wooded fields with spools and crates for bunkers, and an Alamo type field complete with a fort for defenders and bunkers for attackers.
Paint: Splatter Swamp sells Diablo Formula 13 for $55.00 / case. (all fields at Splatter Swamp are Field Paint Only)
Air: With a new compressor on site they can now fill HPA up to 3000 PSI. If you do not have a HPA tank we can provide you with one to use for the day.
Rentals : BT-4s, the rental fee is still the same as previously posted ($14.00) however you can bring your own markers if you'd like.
Refs: All of the refs at Splatter Swamp have ample experience in both scenario and tournament play and their ages range from 20-40 years old.
Hours of Operation: Currently the fields are only open on Saturdays from 8:00AM to 6:00PM, and the field can be resevered for private parties any day of the week. We hope to have the field open more days of the week in the near future.
Thanks for your time,
~ Chris |

This field is on Moody Airforce Base, so you have to have a military ID (or a friend with one) to get on. They have recently gotten new equipment. they now have BT-4s and HPA tanks that are $14 to rent (includes mask, chest protector <optional>,100 paintbals). They will always be able to fill HPA tanks now. I think they have two fields-one for woodsball and one for speedball. we only played on the speedball field. They have a really great setup. they sell Diablo Heat paint. it's pretty awesome. the refs are really great. i gave it an 8 because nothing is perfect and you have to have a military ID to get on. |

Valdosta Paintball: Sorry guys, I think they have better staff, but you guys are nice too! VP also has more expensive paint and consistently has HPA available. The thing I like best about Splatter Swamp is the people out there are ALL about fun. People at VP, the owners and *some* refs are about fun too! SOME players and far too many, which is only a few, refs at VP are extremely annoying and are more concerned about winning and ignoring the customers than is necessary. |

Well crud, I pretty much summed up my feeling about the two fields in the 'other fields in the area' section, but, in my opinion, I think they are pretty much equal. If you're looking for some fun woodsball action with all the camo and green and black, go for SS. Their staff is friendly and often willing to help you out. I hate to admit it, but I personally think that MOST members of the VP staff are much better, however. There are a few refs out at VP that have completely ruined the experience for some and even ran off a few walk-ons. I have heard that those refs have been fired, and I hope it stays that way. Honestly, I go to both fields occasionally (as long as $$$ permits), and I find that both are consistently enjoyable experiences. I prefer speedball to woodsball now, so I've started going to VP about 3 times for every 1 time I go to SS, although I will always have a place in my heart for woodsball. |

Splatter Swamp is based in Moody AFB and for its limited resources it has done very well for itself. With a speedball field (not sup air), a hybrid wooded/speedball field (includes a wooden chevy s-10), and a full wooded field that itself spans about 200 yards by 200 yards. The full wooded field has three forts with one in the center. Which is often used in Alamo games. There is usually a crowd of ~20 people on Saturday. Which is not a huge amount but it is definatley enough for the field. All the refs are volunteers ranging from age 13~40. Not to mention that basically all patrons are either military, dependants, or recruits (Marines and Air Force) make up 95% of all customers. Now I also know that there is another field (Valdosta Paintball) which I have not gone to, that is in the area that has alot more customers that seem to hate Splatter Swamp and yet have never been out to it. Plus SS is aimed towards the recreational player not the professional. SS has invited them to come out and play at our field and have yet to take up the offer. We have had a team of the refferees go out there and play in thier tournaments and had placed 2nd. We sometimes have tournys out at SS but as we said most people just come out to play not necessarily win. If there is something you do not like about the field please let us know so that we may be able to correct it. The field is always being worked on so there may be new objects different field setups, or even a new field. There are plans for a small maze. Money is the only shortage that they have because they are gov. funded. They also have drinks availible for purchase $1.00 for bottles (gatorade/water) and ˘.50 for cans (misc. soda). They have plenty of CO2 to fill tanks at decent prices. They have compressed air for right now (may disapear because few use it). Also they use quality paint (right now Draxxus). You do have to worry about trip hazards because it does have tree roots and vines. There is full rental equipment (mask Tippmann 98c, chest protector and neck guard) available. With no field fee and paint that is cheaper (from what im told) than Valdosta Paintball) and all day air deal you can have fun all day for very little money. The field has been constructed mostly by volunteer refs and the old boss (Terry "Woody" Woodruff). Very friendly customer srvice it is great and enjoyable to be there. Plus they have a huge emphasis on safety. There is a mandatory safety briefing for every new player that comes out. Plus a liability form that you only have to sign once (I have been to fields where you have to sign every time), and they are open all weekend almost all day and are availible for private games during the week of 6 or more renting players. In conclusion for what they've got they have done alot (currently one employee and two employers), and I wouldn't expect any more or any less of the field and thier staff.
