Review: Ricky's Paintball is the best field in the El Paso area. The service is great. All the prices are affordable and very low compared to other shops and fields. The tournaments held here at Ricky's Paintball are the greatest around. We have people coming from Las Cruses, Midland, and places miles away just to play in our awesome fields. Semi-auto only. The bad thing is you cant bring off field paint, but who wants to buy messed up paint somewhere else when you could buy the freshest paint here. All the refs and employes are great, full of energy and helpful if you need something. We have had some complains that nobody pays attention to the players. Its kind of hard to get the refs attention when people are shooting their guns and paintballs are hitting the bunkers. So speak up! We have 3 FIELDS. Woodsball, Speedball, and hyper field. Co2 and HPA fill ups here. Paint is $45 for 2000. So come visit Paintball At Ricky's in El Paso, Texas. Where Your Just a Shot Away!!!

Review: After leaving the sport for several years I have returned here in El Paso, to say the least I made the right choice by coming to Ricky's first. The staff are very helpful at bringing me back up to speed and getting the required equipment again. I have visited several time to shop for equipment and played one day. The main office tends to be a little crowded which several reviews have bashed them for but the key to getting anything done anywhere is to be assertive, don't blame the staff for not noticing you if you don't get their attention.

During rec-ball play don't expect an active paint-check every time you want it, I haven't played at a single field where every time you shot someone you called a paint check, it just doesn't happen in rec-ball, its not serious enough. The refs I consider to be fair and respectful so I'd expect everyone there to give them the same respect. On several occasion between games the refs would gather everyone around the rules board and reiterate what is expected of players, leaving little doubt what you should and should not do. I am a little confused on close-kill rules, I had been told at first there was no minimum distance but later someone was warned for being too close.

There are two fields, one woods and one speedball. The woods ball course is my favorite but the "down" side of the field, meaning the side to the right of the field entrance is very difficult to play on and generally ends in that team losing. Otherwise the fields are high quality with plenty of cover to use if you know how to. The ground is moderately hard dirt making to easy slides but harsh falls, ideal for quick sprints and slides to new cover.

Review: first and main comment on this field is that its the best field to train in not only because u get a big variety of skills and people but the personal that run the field are probably the best people. you are able to talk to referees and the owners at any time and there willing to help u out with anything that they can with from everything to selling your stuff and buying new equipment and opinions on what to buy and what not to. I have called them sometimes after hours of close time and they have answered all my questions and they have even done research for me and gave me a call back. When u plays here u will not want to go to any other field. if u looking for a place were the personal are great, the price is great, and were there willing to help u improve so that u can show your skills and be proud of them there’s no others place then Paintball at Ricky's

Review: A group of us went there a few weeks ago and it was pretty nice. Although the lines in the clubhouse were long, they did move somewhat fast. They ran out of HPA but had it replaced within an hour. The staff was great, but the ref for the speedball was rather useless. Several times we didn't even here the countdown and calling for paint check proved futile also. Over all though it was a good time. There white box paint was decent, believe it to be Diablo Nightmare or Heat. And the Cryptic paint was soooo think it was like orange elmers glue.

WEBE Paintball. Hmmm.... somebody told me they closed down. Webe was way too far out of town for me. Webe was a little more organized and safety oriented.

East side of El Paso on Zaragosa. Zaragosa used to be way out in BFE, but now it's like no big deal to go out there.
Review: I liked the prices (the bring your own paint fee of $5 is totally fair).

They sell alright cases of paint at decent prices. If you normally buy your paint at Wallyworld, you are not saving a lot of dough. Get fresh paint at Ricky's.

The speedball field was really clean, with good sand and a good viewing area.

The woodsball field is nice with lots of trees (aha! makes it hard to "lob" long shots), but I think they had just watered the landscaping and the course was kind of muddy in places.

Lots of people showed up around 2pm. woodsball games were about 15 on 15. I personally thought that was a good number though. The lines for air weren't too long or anything either. It was just about right.

Okay though, I've played paintball for a while. This place was irregular on safety. They had rules posted, and the refs would dog you to decock and put on barrel socks before leaving the field. But when I got there the chrono was not set up. The chrono is also set up as an honor system too. With a lot of young kids around and noobs, I was a bit put off by this. The customers were a good crowd though, and I did not distrust anyone's intentions. I did not see or hear anything about a "surrender or die" rule either. I got bunkered with no warning. I don't really mind-it's just a few bruises to my torso and my ego, but some young kid might get put off from the sport for that.

I see some of the reviews diss the young refs and employees. I bet they mostly work on a work-play basis. They seemed fair and helpful to me. They might just need some refresher training.

UPDATE 2-26-2007:
Played this weekend at Ricky's. I was pleasantly surprised. More refs were on duty, they called ALL PLAYERS over to the entrance TWICE during the day to go over rules and safety. I heard the refs warn players too for infractions (one idiot took his mask off on the gamefield). The food is priced okay if you get the munchies. I had picked up some 1/2 price coupons so I saved some dough. The lines are still a little long for CO2 refills, but that is my only gripe now. By the way, the field is a lot dryer and less slippery now too.

Review: i first played with a huge group of family, and that weekend was busy. however, the staff, instead of helping customers as quickly as possible, did things too slow. for example, i wanted to rent a gun, but the staff was busy talking to their friends instead of promptly helping us. it took me over 30 minutes to check in. the referees are young adults which does not matter to me however they lack real authority. they paintcheck well but i struggled to hear them announce the games or to start. (they really should use whistles or loudspeakers!) also, most of the time we waited around for a game. the fields and game and people are fun and generally helpful, including the staff. it is not that the staff are rude, but just not very service oriented. there is not a desiginated line for air refills therefore people crowd up in that small room. most just stand around while others cut in. Finally on checkout, the one dude doing all the work took forever talking to his firends and cleaning the cehcked in markers and ignored me. that just irked me until an older staff told him to check me out. it is a fun place to play and although my review looks negative, try it out for yourself and see how you like it. the biggest gripe i have is the lack of fast and efficient customer service (they need to hire professionally orientated staff more than anything) anyways have fun!!

2 fields --woodsball (i loved it)
and --speed ball (not for me, too fast)
nice staff other than service
variety of games, good clientile

Review: Once you just finished a game the refs check your gun to see if its loaded. You can ask them to clean or fix your gun, its pretty cheap to play. The first time I went my O-RING busted and RICKY gave me a new one(be nice to RICKY so he can give you free stuff or discounts.RICKY'S IS JUST SO FREAKING AWESOME ESPECIALLY THE FREAKING WOODS BALL FIELD. IF YOUR SCARED OF PAIN DON'T EVEN DARE TO GO. BEWARE CAPTURE THE FLAG EXTREMELY PAINFUL

Review: first of all, the other reviews suck ( they are not detailed)

it has the best staff and fields. period. um.. ok.. if you want to rent (mask, gun, 75 paintball, filed pass, and unlimited air) is $20 w/o tax. if you have your own stuff it is $10 w/o tax. they have two fields, one is a huge woods ball field that has trees and a lot of shade. also it has a lot of tires to hide behind. they also have a hyper ball field (speed ball is all air bunkers) but it has water pipes and some air bunkers but we are going to have a speed ball field there and it is going to be pimp. . they have a resting area that has a tent like shade thing and about 10-15 tables to rest, put guns on top, eat, whatever. we also put up a area that has misters (a rope like thing that sprays you with water). that is cool. there is a pro shop and repair center. there is also a huge selection of plants and stuff like that cause it is also a nursery (that means there is a lot of trees in the area). the older staff members are (people in black or white shirts that have Ricky's logo) ( ther is this one kick as$ ref named chris, he has a white cap and a flex 8, that dude is so cool and very polite and he also has manners)people say that the refs are scared of paint checking. that is kinda true. they have about 3-5 new refs and they complain that they get hit so they don't want to do paint checks. i tell them that it is part of reffing if they don't want to check then don't be a ref. so if that happens tell chris or Zack or Jared. chris will personally will ask you what bunker? and you will tell me and i will go out there to see i will put my hand in the air and ask is this the one. then the person who called it says yes then i check cause if you say paint check and then you just want to see where the person is that is not right. so they are teaching the newer refs to do that. so please if the ref doesn't paint check, after the game ask for his name and tell one of the head staff members. ask for Zack, Jared, Ricky, Adrian, chris, don, or Nathaniel. ok. next i hear some are a bunch of d*cks that is probably true. sometime players give Adrian sh*t cause he puled the player for wiping. if a ref is being a dumba$$ to you just shoot them once. ok back to the field. they like have a game every once in a while called "Battle your way out" it is when they combine both fields to have one huge one and sometimes they have capture the flag and most of the time it is elimination. they are more then happy for suggestions like "protect the president" or like "humans and aliens" so if you go and you feel like playing something different just ask. also they as refs and staff try to talk to you and ask how your day has been there just for you to have a good time. so if you don't like something there that has happened please report it. oh and the other thing. a lot of people say that they cant hear the ref starting the game. that sometime true. but that is only when the refs aren't there to start it. but most of the time the refs that cant yell don't start it. chris usually start the games and has a loud voice. another complain is that people say that all the staff members are kids. they are. but what is the problem with that. people who say that are just jealous that we can ball better or that they don't like taking orders from kids. they are just as polite and considerate as adults and even better cause they don't get paid so that means that if they screw up they will be sent home and have to just play somewhere else. so all of the staff members are very nice. so that is why people complain because they eight don't like taking orders from kids or just don't like kids. . well if price inst a big and you want to have a good time go to Ricky's and don't feel out of place if you don't know how to play or you think you are too good. there is all kinds of players to compete or just to have fun with. so go out there and enjoy a good time at paintball at Ricky's."where you are just a shot away". . i had to put that. it was too funny. so when you go out there please complain because that is the only way we can get better.

Review: The safety is great after every game the refs check to see if you you have your barrel plug in and gun is either turned off or uncocked. They also check to see if your guns is shootin at the right speed. They have two fields speedball and woodsball. speedball is made of water pipes it is a short field so there is not much moving.woodsball is more mellow it has an extra long field and trees and tires for bumpers. They are open all days of the week except monday. their hours are tuesday through friday 12-6 and weekends 10-6. if there is a good amount of people they will stay open late. If you rent it is $20 that includes a mask unlimited co2 marker and 75 paintballs. If you bring your own paint there is a five dollar charge. If you have all your gear it is 13.50. They also have a nursery. In their proshop they have every type of gun masks gloves you name it they got it.The staff is cool. The refs are fair. They have a viewing area. No food. I suggest rickies.

Review: Just to let everyone know that Ricky's has changed alot from the past. The staff is much better and everyone gets treated with respect. I would Highly recommend everyone go give the field a shot. I Play with Team Kil'a Boyz and we have been welcome from the beginning.

Big things are about to start happening here. Such as Clinics and Tourneys.
