I was really impressed with this field. The Castle and "Concept" field is a blast to play on. there are a few "houses" bunkers that are really great and have great vantage points on the field. They also have a two story Castle that is really fun to play attack/defend. I only played the woods field once and the only complaint I have is that it is a little overgrown and could be trimmed up a little bit to allow some shooting lanes. but thats just my 2cents. There is also a small field called the "ghetto" where some intense close combat goes down. I give this feild a 10. I had a great time out there and will definitely return. |

This field is really cool. The refs are nice and cool to talk to. Also in the woods there is a stream if u want to cross it u can. Oh and there is two airball fields so u and your team can practice. I rate this field a 9 cause everything is good but if your in the woods and your in the game you can't her the horn to end. I would give this field a 10 if they actually cleaned the castle of dirty water. The castle is really awesome and the refs let you shoot through the little holes!!!! |

The first encounter with this field and the owner was great, I thought it was a well run field, organized with decent refs. So I decided to return for the players appreciation weekend. Due to the heavy raining that weekend, I decided to purchase another marker. The marker I purchased was grossly over priced. That put a really bad taste in my mouth as a new paintballer. I won't return, if that is how a business is going to be ran. NO thanks...Woodsballers play New Kent!!! |

I've played at Action Town, Bethel Park and Hot Shots. This field has more space, more variety and better facilities than any field within a 40 mile radius. |

there is a great setup for the speedball fields, which makes it able to support a large tournament. the fields are level and fully netted, with netted staging areas. they are also easily viewed from the sides(for spectators). this field has huge potential as a practice field for serious teams and for a tournament circuit. the staff were very friendly and courteous. I talked to the owner and he was able to answer all my questions about his field and about paintball. i gave this field a 7 and i consider sky ball at the skydome a 10(for reference) |

I was there today (Sunday, June 3rd) for the "swamp day" (found online last night on the fields homepage's forum)
It rained...almost all day. With own equipment I got free entry/air, and rentals were only $5...so if you missed it, too bad.
Oh, and everyone that showed up got a coupon for free admission through june 30th.
Ok, on to the actual review.
Paint was either white box ($45) or Ultimate Chronic ($55)
I used the chronic and it shot great (albeit the rain and wind had an effect) and had a superb thick fill. Let's say there was no wiping to be had with this paint. I was happy with it, seemed fresh. Paint gets 2 thumbs up.
Fields...we played the woodsball field first (I showed up late) known as "wilderness"
Trail was a bit muddy, but with rain all day, and woods....I expected it. The few bunkers were well placed, and provided excellent cover. Also played this field last, and fell victim to a young boy who let me walk right past me before he gogged me with one ball. Excellent stalk.
They have a Huuuuge field that they call "The Concept" field.
In the center is a well built castle (slippery on the 2nd level due to the rain..but cmon, it's plywood.) Surrounding this were spools. cans, Stumps, shrubs, small forts made of wood...and something you don't see everyday...an RV...a small Plane...a boat. Def. a very fun field. It was so big, that you could use cover to your advantage quite well. Flanking opponents was quite fun, and the ball that bounced off my profilers that arced across field...very scary. That would've been the 2nd game in a row that young boy got me out...but, a few pods later, and about 20 bunkers, led to some surrenders and a well placed head-shot. Game over. =]
They also have 2 speedball (sup-air) fields. The one we played on (blue bunkers) was set up well for 3-man. We played a few games there as well, and it was awesome. The muddy parts of the field had sand placed over them, which says a lot for the upkeep. I always love fields that think of the players.
That does it for the fields we played on...I think I fell in love with the concept field. Def. a must if you're in the area.
The referees were humorous, safety oriented, and gave the players the choice of fields to play as well as playing style. This is an absolute MUST for fields in my opinion. They also turned games around pretty quickly. Refs. get a well deserved 2 thumbs up here as well.
Air fills...Thank god, a field that can fill to 4500Psi...well...about 4300 psi, but that's a good plus in my book. They had 2 whips by the looks of it, but only used one. Fills were quick, nothing more to be said here.
Clientele...the staff was overall friendly, and the girl that checked us in was nice and actually knew a thing or two about paintball. The place seemed a bit laid back and for a rainy sunday afternoon, it was a good place to be. They even ordered pizza to sell midway through the day. The shop was decently stocked, offering some jerseys, markers (high-end, low-end, and in between) They didn't have a lot of items, but they had a little bit of everything.
The staging area was comprised of a few picnic tables, and the staff set up some tents over 2 of them to protect our stuff from the rain. (awesome)
The chrono area was just inside the netting to the concept field, with one red chrono. Standard.
Overall, the field was great, the staff made me feel welcome, and I had a lot of fun. I'll def. be going back, this time with more friends to shoot. =]
Btw...I usually rock a black mini, and some green profilers.
See you there! (or not...in the case of that one kid...)

this feild is the best feild iv been to.
refs: have a sense of humor, very helpful, strict on safety, turn around games as quick as possible, and understanding
paint: $46 for economy, $52 mid grade, $54 for mid-high $56 for high $58 for super high per 2000 round box
air and feild: $15 for 1 day or $20 for 2 days
proshop: has everything you need masks, squeegees, tanks, tools, drinks, food, shirts, a vest, hoppers, guns, and barrels.
fill station: for the most part good one filler is not all that good
feilds: 1 concept large, castle RVs and half a speedball feild, a full speedball feild and 3 woodsball feilds with exelent cover
staging area: picnic tables, and tents *recomend bring truck and use that as a staging area less chance of stuff getting stolen
in woods lots of muddy patches wish they would do more games in the swamp woodsball feild and less on the concept |

OK! Well... looks alot like the owners grandkids run the place (i dont know the owner but.. i dont think i seen anyone working there that i guessed over 17.. you get it..)... BUT... all seemed pretty good, paint prices are a little high for anything descent, but right off hand, i think the field and air fee is $15 combined so, you kind of make out there... descent proshop, or.. a descent amount of stuff, i dont think there was all that much that you could want but, they did have a fridge full of sodas (careful, it looks oddly like a soda machine and you might look like an idgit going at it with your dollar out(who knows)), anyways....
the 'new' woodsball field?... i'm not sure, but.. it could use a SERIOUS clearing or something... everything you shoot out there breaks on a twig 10-15 feet away.. not much fun...
the concept field... HUGE... too huge? maybe.. i think we all stood around for 15 minutes trying to arch paintballs far enough to hit the building... or just walking around out of the other teams reach... im kinda glad my battery died or i would have wasted even more paint on this field... just too big to not be playing with rifles....
The speedball field... Was great i thought, all the bunkers held air really well, the center pyramid is great, the field is oddly unbalanced though, most play was stuck to the front side of the field (who knows whos fault that was).. BUT... not so many people... we had a blast with the 6 that stayed and whoever came and left though.
Now... the airfill hut thing.... (i erased a bunch of what i had to say).... the chick doing the filling... didnt have a clue in black about how to fill a tank i dont guess... i mean, she managed to get the fitting onto my tank (all but once atleast (yeah, dangerous)).. BUT.. long story short, i ended up with a blown burst disc.. AKA, a 'could have been her face exploded on'... o, and they ran out of C02 half way through the day o_0 those people left...
Well, i'm still going back so... my final run down... they chrono way too low for such a big place... and keep an eye on the chick with the air tank.. she's not so bright..

The Swamp has change a bit since i first played there. The concept field has received several updates and the speed ball fields have changed as well as the Shop. One thing that I have noticed that has not changed is the prices, which is a good thing...
The advertisements on the website claim that they have 3 woods ball fields, 2 speed ball fields and a concept field.
Of the 3 woods ball fields... The first field, also the main field, The Swamp, is a good sized field. There are plenty of bunkers and places to hide as well as a fairly open midfield for some good gunfights. The second field, The Wilderness, Is just as long as the 1st field but a lil thiner on the sides. There is however still enough space to do some flanking, it will require some ground crawling but it can be done. Over all it's a good field... The 3rd field, which is also part of the concept field, is LONG and very skinny. You have to do some running to get to the middle and meet up with the opposing forces and doesn't leave ANY room for flanking or hiding. It's a woods ball field cutout for an all out brawl short of being on a speed ball field.
Now on to the 2 speed ball fields. THERE IS ONLY ONE speed ball field, there used to be 2 but over time the wind has torn some of the netting and they were forced to cut back to one. They are doing the best they can to take care of what netting is left so they can keep the speed ball field in operation. The bunkers on the field could be taken care of a lil better as they sometimes get to deflated to use, they could also use a good changing as there are mud holes starting to develop at each of the bunkers. Over all, the speed ball field is good for some open play and to have fun on.
The Concept Field... 2 story castel, lots of bunkers, both man made and some tress and dirt put up. 2 vans, 2 campers, a boat, some fridges, and some other odd items. The Fiels is long and wide. USE IT...To me, it's the best field i have seen so far, but than again, i havn't played at a whole lot of different places....
Shop. They keep the basics stocked, Pods, pod packs, some shirts, air tanks, few guns, hoppers, over priced mask. They also have drinks and candy prices like you were in 7-11. Nothing to complain about. They also from time to time will order pizza from Domino's or Tommy will get out there and grill hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill...
Staff. Humm, I've seen a few come and go so it's a lil hard to be accurate on this but i will go based on the few that have been there and some of the new guys that are there.
The refs are 100% focused on safety and making sure that everyone has a good time. Any questions, just ask them and they will be happy to take a moment and fill you in on whatever it is you need to know. The game turnaround has gotten better over time. They are good about explaining in short detail the games that are gonna be played and on what field. ALL refs on the field can be spotted by the Orange shirts, not hard to find one and they are quick to get in the action and make a good call...
The shop and air station staff. The shop staff used to be good but now there are a few teenagers in there that don't care to much about what's going on. Last time I was in there, it took me and my 2 friends 30 mins to get in, get the field waivers signed, get the rental gear (we only rented 1 gun), and get going. The Gun tech that they have knows nothing about guns other than how to take them apart and put them back together. He claimed that the tippman 98 was better the the BL Intimidater. Now maybe that was a matter of opinion and that's ok, but a staff member should never start a debate on what gun they think is better. On the the air station staff. Usually there quick and they know what there doing, Occasionally you will find a 13 y/o with hair in there eyes and a hat pulled down over that with an ipod stuck in there ears, in there. Other than that, the shack is close to the field and always ready to go.
Field fees are good at $15.00 all day air. Paint is reasonable, starting at 16 a bag.
Overall, I give it a 9.5 out of 10. They have got it together for the most part. There is no field out there that is perfect but they are close.... |

The swamp is a great if not one of the greatest paintball fields in all of virginia. The staff is great and very helpful. You cant bring your own paint our if you do it has to be either cryptic, voodoo or proball. You have to keep your gun at 300 psi and theres a 20 foot rule, so you cant go lighting up some poor sod. there is one concept field ,2 speedball fields , and 2 woodsball fields. conditions are very swamplike so dress accordingly. |

First time at the field, played for 5 hrs playing different games.
The shop staff was great and helpful, even with it being pretty packed there. Have an air shed right next to the fields to get a quick fill up between playing.
Refs focus on everyone having a great time playing, and keeping it a safe environment.
If you have any questions while playing or while waiting to play simply ask a Ref, they will help you.
Field paint is kind of high in price, but decent paint. Drinks and food is priced like any convenient store you can stop at.
The place is called "The Swamp" so I expected some mud and wet conditions so I dressed for it.
Will certainly be back to play.
