The Ultimate Game or TUG as it is known to players is one of NZ's longest running paintball fields. The owner Steve Constable is reguarded as a godfather of NZ paintball. He was one of the first people to bring paintball to NZ.
Since then he has had two or three fields and has been actively involved in the NZ paintball scene. Aside from running a fulltime fully staffed field he has had a paintball distribution business, however with the onset of the internet and cheaper prices and gear from the states he no longer does it.
TUG has been operating as one of NZs largest fields since its creation in the early eighties. The owner Steve knows his stuff, he has run a succesfull field for years, employing at times half a dozen staff (large for NZ). Steve has also (years ago) built his own paintball guns. These were lever action, pumps and semis in all shapes and sizes.
TUG nowdays sits on an old river bed, which has been turned into a pine plantation. This makes it a good all weather field.
TUG has currently six large fields and a speedball or urban style field. There is plans to create more, however a bush fire about a year and a half ago severly damaged some of the fields and many had to be re-built.
New tyre fields are going in, trenches and bunkers being dug in the bush fields and alot of work is being put into the place.
One great thing about TUG is that Steve and some of the staff live on site. Therefore bookings aren't essential (except in summer) and a group can turn up and have a game pretty much when ever they want.
Large games, night games and scenario games have been played in recent years and more are planned.
