I played the recent Tri-Wars 2 tournament at this field. While organized and sponsored by the Band of Brothers paintball team, the host and field rules were governed by this field.
Now, there are some cons, but they worked around them. It was an SPPL-style game, so the "scenario" field was rather small, given the normal SPPL size (10 players per team). Tri-Wars rules stated only seven players on the field at any time, per team. The rest could be in the DZ, but could not go out to the field without another player returning by eliminations.
Their fill station (HPA) needs some upgrading, as they need a booster, but this is a minimal issue. The only problem I can really see this causing is if the field were to enlarge, along with its player base. It's simply slow, but it is low cost. That helps keep field proceeds to a maximum without sacrificing playability.
I was disappointed in their choice of paint this tournament. I've heard that this was not normal for the TW series, but may have been chosen purely for its profit margin. If that's true, that doesn't bode well. However, I have spoken with some players affiliated with the field, and it will hopefully be rectified for TW3.
The field itself seemed to be two speedball-style fields, next to at least one larger "scenario" field. Now, as I stated, it's rather small as far as scenario fields go. However, they have some old vehicles and buildings you can get in (two of them are even multi-story) and engage from a variety of angles.
Their dead zones (DZs) are well thought out. They put four very tall poles in the ground, and anchored by weight-filled tires. Strung entirely around all four poles is strong paintball-specific netting. This makes it possible to remove your mask while waiting for the next reinsertion. In places where there is a larger risk of wind kicking up the netting, they've attached chains to keep them hanging down to the ground.
Unfortunately, this field is nowhere near large enough (or accessible enough) to allow tanks of any sort, but no field is perfect. Still, I look forward to the next SPPL-style tourney they hold there. |

With this field, and every field, there are pro's and con's.
Overview:
Pro's: Good Management
Fun Fields
Safety First
Prices
Con's: Not Many Fields
Fill Station
Pro's: With this field comes great management. The guys there were very nice and fun to joke around with. They took their job seriously. They love the game and they do everything to make it as fun as possible. The Fields they have are really fun to play on. I am more of a scenario guy myself, but after playing their hyper ball field I think i am going to have to pick up some more hours at work so i can afford to play more speed ball. The guys at the field want you to have fun so they go over safety before a game and they enforce it vigorously. I took my mask off after a game as we were heading back to get some more paint and one of the refs came up to me and explained that he understood why I took my mask off but asked me politely to keep it on until completely off the field and explained why. Very nice about everything but made sure we knew the rules. The prices were fantastic. I am use to paying 60 bucks for a case of paint but here it was only $45. And the quality was good too. I didn't have one break and neither did anyone else there and one guy was using a crappy old stock Tippmann 98.
Con's: Now there weren't many con's about this place. One was They only have a four fields and only two were operational. They have two scenario fields only one was accessible because of the mud (but that's what you get for going in early winter i guess) and they have two speedball fields but only one, again, was operational. The one they didn't have up was there sup-air field (no bunkers filled) but the fields they did have were fun. Lastly, they won't let you bring your paint down to the entry for the fields you have to go all the way back to the air station to fill on paint unless you have pods. Now being new to the game I don't have pods so i was kinda pissed but what can you do?
Conclusion: Well as i have listed above the have great management, they stress safety, have really fun fields, great prices, could do with some more fields, and would benefit with a closer filling station. |

Recently i have noticed that alot of the fields in the Springs area have closed. Then i heard that colorsplash had bought them out and i thought wow. This must be a pretty nice field then.So i went and checked it out. The field wasn't the best field i had been to but it was nice. Me and a few of my friends decided to play one of thier tourneys. The tournamet was one of the best that i had seen run in a long time. The reffing was awesome(except every no and then but thats paintball). I think this field is great and that it has a lot of potential. |

Ive been playing for a while now, and all the fields in colorado have their pros and cons, except for Colorsplash. I was very impressed with the field setup when I first came here and seen the potential it had. Its only been three months that I've been playing there but in those three months I've seen this field expand. That is more than I can say for any field in Colorado. I played on the Scenario Field for the first time (I mostly play speedball) and had a blast. I spoke to the owners about some extra land they had, and guess what, they already have plans for some cool additions. They already have started renovating the land and its looking good.
Besides that, they have a hyperball field they just acquired and are renovating that. Its pretty cool from what it sounds like. Its right next to a go-kart track and video game center, so now I can take ALL my kids (only two) and have something to do for all of us when the wifeys away. I still have to check it out, but its off of Pueblo Blvd, they have it on their web site at:
www. colorsplashpaintball .com
The last three months I've attended their speedball tournaments and there is nothing to complain about. The refs do a really good job, one tourney they made a few mistakes, but that happens anywhere. That is what makes a tourney successful and fun, is a well organized field with good reffing. The 3-mans are fun but the 5-mans are really something to see. Some good competition out there too. Now that the seasons over I am looking forward to what they have in store. Speaking of that, the pro-shop they have is real nice. They had just about everything I needed to upgrade my DM4. They ordered the other stuff for me for less than the internet was offering. That was pretty sweet.
Thats pretty much all I have to say about that, just, if you get a chance definatley check it out it alot of fun, reasonable prices, and good people.
Oh yeah, not to mention, its always warm in Pueblo,so I can play there ALL YEAR round.

I'm not very impressed. Recently played a tourney at this field, I felt it was poorly run. this was my first tourney so naturally I entered the rookie division. I found that a few teams were definitely not rookie. I tried to talk to the owner and they told me to have a nice day and wouldn't talk about it. Not to mention a few teams were being favored. The ultimate ref was a very rude person, he was only willing to help what seemed like his friend. The team that won first had the owners son and daughter on the team. this experience has stopped me from every playing here on a recreational day even though the field itself was nice and well kept. I hope others have a more pleasurable experience with this field. |

This is the best field i have gone to to date. I Played the 1st TOPS tournament and i have nothing to ssay but good things. The Fields re very very clean and the bunkers are well kept, they even cleaned them after every couple rounds. And the ground was clean of any paintballs and rocks, unlike splat masters. The refs are friendly pretty good. I really enjoyed plaing there and cant wait to go back! |

The new paintball park in pueblo is awsome there is nothing else I could ask from a paintball field. They have great refs, very nice owners(Barb,Jackie,Bob,andJim),They have two NPPL size fields and there woods ball fields are awsome on one of them they have a hug fort and tree like bunkers set up all around it so you can atack it and the other field has a SCHOOL BUS that is so cool it is actually fun to be on the bus , also they have a SWAT VAN to hid in and it is all by a creek and knee high grass to crawl through.
They are hosting a 3-man and 5-man series every month. The 3-man is the 2nd saturday of the month and the 5-man is the 3rd sunday of every month. There are GUN PRIZES FOR THE SERIES WINNERS theres a lot of compotion see you there.
I shure hope to see you there its so fun even for just a day out. |
