12 of us stopped by to try the field here (Prairie Fire) and had an absolute blast. Took us a while to get there but I would say it was worth it. The field was a woods/rec (combo?) and was pretty big (even a 20 person game shouldnt be a problem at all). The bunkers were evenly distributed and multi-directional, so the two sides were not just facing each other flatly. Great field to get angles on campers and sitting ducks just wont do it. There were high grounds and low grounds and flat areas. Logs and shrubs allow some crawling about and there were ample strong bunkers to hold positions. There was a tiny hill with bunkers on it which was interesting (could be used to play fort). Terrain is rugged enough to provide a natural battle feel (I like rough terrains). Bunkers are evenly distributed, no advantaged bunkers, standing/kneeling/crawling bunkers are available and plenty of woods around to play stealth (camo works great).
We had 5 people renting guns which worked fine with no problem, the markers were pretty new and so are the masks (they dont smell like public urinals like some other field's masks). The paintballs were alright and it's really affordable for broke students like us who love paintball and dont have too much money to burn (byop $5). Though one problem is N2/CPA refill is not available here (but I'm pretty sure if there's enough demands they can provide it in the future)
Ian's the guy who runs this place and he's a real nice fellow. He made sure our games ran smoothly and helped out every way he could. He gave us great suggestions for different games and even threw in a prize on our last game. Can't get any better than that, no?
It'd be great though if another field is added to it, just to give more options. Something like a city field will be great.
Great job Prairie Fire, keep it up! |
