Review: I planned my sons 16th birthday party at this field and from the first phone call it was a great experience. Even with rain the day before the party and the morning of the party. I was scared the boys couldn't play the owner allowed us to decide at the last minute if we would come of not. We did and had a great day.

In other reviews they talk about the road but we had no problem getting our minivan back there. It is a short distance from the road and is an orginary dirt road. but I did see a couple car parked at the entrance but it is a short walk back to the field.

The other players that were there were very helpful. Some of the boys in my group would forget to put the sock on the end of the gun and the other players would remind them. They also helped them on the field and gave them pointers from the side line. They were so friendly we invited everyone to have some cake with us.

The price is unbeatable and my son is now planning to go back when ever he has a spare weekend.

I also need to point out I called the other paintball fields and emailed another field and none of them got back to me at all so I would not consider going anywhere else.

Our other fear was the last man out game. Before going we were afraid the boys would be sitting out most of the day because non of them have ever played paint ball. We had visions of them watching a lot. BUT again the more experienced guys would help them and even cover then to the point they were usually in the game to close to the end. AND games were so fast they played a lot and had a chance to get closer and closer to the end.

I will recommend A to Z paint ball to every one looking to play paintball.

We had a great time and will be back.

2 Fields
Fields are a Netted for safety. Parking is located right next to the fields. If you carry alot of gear and supplies, Its nice to be ten foot from the car!.Both Fields are under a wooded canopy which is a real help with sun exposure, glare, and heat. The bunkers and obsticals are well thought out to keep the game fair for both sides and big enough to keep the action constant! The boundries are clearly marked and the playing areas are not conjested with underbrush and deadends. They did a grwat job clearing them out just enough to give a good line of sight.THe fields are well maintained and free from debris (for a woodsball field this is a real plus!) .

Atmoshpere:
The fields are located in Newark next to the old MBNA site, but when you turn down the unpaved wooded path, you drive deep enough in the woods to feel secluded from civilization.Instantly you get the feeling of playing "guns" in the woods from when we were kids. There are plenty of tables to space out your gear. Keep in mind "secluded" so bring water, food and supplies. Trees and bushes double for bathrooms!

Attitude: THE BEST PART!
From the moment we got out of the truck we were happily greeted by players, refs and managers. We mentioned that this was our first time at the field and basicaly the first time my Son and I have played together in paintball. Immediately the refs and managers took us under their wings and made sure we were doing ok the whole day!

The Refs:
The refs were AMAZING! Both were courteous, SAFE, and eager to jump in and help you with gear malfunctions and advise on best practice for traversing the fields. They spent extra time walking us through the courses before our first match to point out offensive postions to take advantage of and defensive positions to be aware of. They gave sound practical advise on marker setups and gear upgrades. Thier honest aproach on which markers, gear and barrels were a good buy and what to stay away from will surely keep my future purchases intelligent and cost effective.

The Players:
The players ranged from 12 - 50 years old. begineers to semi pro. EVERYONE got along famously! The Pros humbly assumed the leadership roles on the field to ensure an organized game while the beginners did a god job of keeping their heads down! The games were a mixture of Refs and players gathering up troops for pick up games of varying difficulty levels all designed to encourage a fun, spontaneous atmosphere! Rarely did we wait longer then ten minutes for another game to get organized and launched. Side note: most players kept call signs such as "Spongebob, Redneck, Mongo the Great, ect. which lent to the laid back, kiddish attitude with new names popping up all day "Friendly Fire"..you know who you are! The "Sunday Crew" of players are a regular cast which felt like a band of brothers who were certainly eager to adopt a few more!

The Owner:
The Owner is very friendly and passionate about his cause of keeping paintball accessible to beginners and fun for the pros all at the same time. His commitment to a safe and positive player experience is his first priority. "Admiral Saftey" should be his call sign! He was very quick to recognize and address saftey concerns. NO ONE escaped his watchful eye!

As far as my son and I are concerned there is no other field worth going to if you are looking for a positive atmosphere and attitude! Even with a 45 minute commute to the field!!!

ATTN: Corporate and/or Group clients this field is certainly the best location to come for team building excursions! Secluded and FULL of support to host a high caliber experience!

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK GUYS!

Sincerely,
"Big Man" and "Little guy"

Review: well ive been playing now for about 9 years off and on (first couple years I only played 2-3 times a year. For the past 3 years I have been playing here at least once a month, and the past 2 I have been there almost every other weekend.

The field is cool, they have a Nice Set-up. They just rearranged it a little so I haven't really got use to the new set-up yet, but it definitely looks like it helps the snake from the far side (which was at a disadvantage before so it will probably help even the teams out).

The Snake doesn't seem straight enough and needs to have like ends. right now its like bent. the field needs to definitely be rakes. I feel like im tripping over something at least once or twice a game. Just Take a Rake in there and Rake it out. Now true it is under trees so this might be a never ending battle and I understand. So yea, just me getting that out there.

The Road, well its not a very good one. I don't attempt taking my car back there and neither does anyone else. but that's ok, they have some parking not too far from the field. Right inside the Gate. Otherwise, Id recommend bringing ur truck or other 4-wheel vehicle. They said they have put a couple hundred dollars of rocks down, which I don't doubt. but I think they need to put a drainage system in also, some Corregated PVC under the road with rock on top would do wonders... Ive done it before at a camp I use to work at and it solved that roads problem... but it wasn't next to a creek... so again this may be a NEVER ENDING BATTLE. They said the rock just sinks... so yea... no big deal though, ill just park by the entrance and walk-in...

The Refs/Larry+Norm(owners)/Regulars - These guys are all awesome. Most of the Regulars (including myself) are awesome and all know each other. They usually help the refs and owners to keep tabs on Air Fills and Barrel Condoms out of field/Masks in Field. And Were all there to just have a relaxed time and playing some friendly games of paintball... which anyone who's there can jump in and we can get games started whenever. and were all relaxed so we'll do whatever, where all there to just play and have fun. The Refs are all pretty cool, and most of the time the Regulars wont need them and they'll just let us go play, there there for the Big Party groups and newer players though to help them out and help them understand the game. The Owners (whichever one is there for that day - as the other one is at their store in College Square by Main street in Newark) are awesome, Quick on tank Refills and will help you and share knowledge with you wherever they can. Awesome Guys.

Paint Ranges from $35-$50 per case (2000 rounds), and All Day Field fee and C02/Compressed Air is $10. They have 2 fields, and are working on rearranging them to make them more even. They have a 5man and a 3man (although these fields can support 12v12 and 5v5 respectfully) They also have Rentals which I believe are $15 each (gun, tank, hopper mask) and I believe most are Spyder Clones/Compacts.

In my book Red Mill is a 9, and I will DEFINITELY continue going there for a LONG time.
once the Road is Fixed and Field is Raked its a Perfect 10. Snake is just an Added Bonus!

Review: Ok I started playing paintball at Red Mill and I have been playing there ever since. All of the people that play there will help even the most novice of players to becoming a great. It is an extremly friendly enviroment and the feilds participants include all ages and skill levels. The feild is "byop" or you can buy there paint which ranges from $35-$45. The feild fee is $10 and that includes all day Co2 and Compressed Air.

I love Red Mill and I will never stop going there, ITS JUST WAY TO MUCH FUN!

Review: Looks like they have two fields set up, but there were about 10-15 people with a private party using the other field. So about 15-30 people were on a single field.

Access to Field - The road to the field is terrible, all mud and deep ruts. Don't bring your sports car or low riding sedan. Definitely truck/SUV access.

Fields - Decent field with enough cover. The ground was also pretty dry being so close to a river. There were no bathrooms/poter potties to be found.

Refs - The refs were very young couldnt be no older than 13. They couldnt keep up with what was happening in the game. People stayed in the game after being shot numerous times, which made things frustrating. Also there were some bunkering going on but if you were able to yell out "surrender" or something of the sort the other guy was out, and it was ok. I thought this was a cool realistic and SAFE approach.

Safety - They were on top of things with condoms and masks.

Games - They started when the players were ready....I mean every player... Its nice I guess but when 15 -20 people are waiting on one or two guys to get onto the field, it becomes quite annoying after waiting 10 minutes.

Pricing - $10 for all day play.

Air - They were very quick about refilling CO2 and HPA. Also, air is included in the field fee.

Newbies - Great field for noobs. All the players were very friendly. Expect a lot of camping from beginners as there isnt much incentive for the players to advance.

Overall, I think there are probably nicer fields around, but for the price and staff, this is a great place. I might have to come back to this review in a week or two. I recommend this field to anyone in the area!

Review: This was the first real field I have been to and Norm and his staff were great. I took my 10 year old son and we had a great time. Looks like they have two fields set up, but there were about 10-15 of us that day and we comfortably played on one field.

Access to Field - Signage was poor at the road, but we had good direction, so no problem. The road to the field is terrible, all mud and deep ruts. Don't bring your sports car or low riding sedan. Definitely truck/SUV access.

Fields - Decent field with lots of reels, PVC fences, etc. to hide behind. The ground was also pretty dry, so I think they have good drainage. No mud pits on the field.

Refs - The refs were awesome. Although a little young, they were right on top of things. Very quick with paint checks and good about reminding people about keeping safe distance/bunkering. A++++

Safety - Everyone appeared very conscious about safety. Good at making sure sleeves are in place. Also good about distance and bunkering (which I can say is intimidating to the newbies, including me).

Games - These guys were right on top of getting games started as soon as people were ready and grouped together at the field entrance.

Pricing - Can't beat $10 for all day play. Deal of the day!

Air - Lots of people were running out of air quick, but I think tanks were being underfilled because it was like 34 degrees outside. Norm was very quick about refilling CO2 and HPA. Also, air is included in the field fee.

Newbies - Great field for newbies. Myself, my son and a co-worker of mine, who are all new to the sport, had a great time here and felt very welcome. All the players were very friendly.

Overall, this is a great field for those just starting and for experienced players. My only negative is that the field is a little small/tight and I found myself shooting lots of paint just to keep in the game and put pressure on the opposing team. I think there are probably nicer fields around, but for the price and great staff, this is a great place.

I give this field an 8 overall. Had to deduct a little for poor access road and smaller field size.

Review: First off I'd like to point out that I have been playing at this field for about a month and a half almost every weekend. I'll base my review on many of the things that are important to me about a field.

1. Safety - This is always most important, and Red Mill never lacks. Barrel plugs are strictly enforced, the chrono is located on the back of a field behind some netting so there won't be any accidents and they make sure everyone understands the rules of the field before they walk on.

2. Fields - They have 2 (sometimes 3) fields at any time. They're all woods/hyperball, so it's spools, boxes and crates back in some tree covering. However, the cool part is how they've Incorporated the environment. During a flood about a year ago, they had to rebuild the field and right in the middle was a huge log. I'm about 6' 5" and on my knees I can just see over it, so it's perfect for cover. What they've done is moved half of it over between to more trees and stacked two spools on either end right in the mid back area, giving you a neat stand-up and lay down bunker. The rest of the log was kept in place and serves as a great bunker for left side angles. Ryan, they guy who designed the field put alot of effort into making sure every bunker had something about it. When you move and look at the field you realize that each side has it's strong points and weak points. Every bunker has an advantage and disadvantage making play both interesting and balanced. As far as speed ball goes, you're never going to find a more compelling course.

3. Facilities - This seems to be a work in progress. They're going to put some rocks down, but otherwise the parking area is fine. The only problem is there is a path going back to the actual field that if you're just driving a two wheel drive car, you'll never get down. They do have a port a potty though, so if you have to go, you can.

4. Staff - The guys who work (or volunteer, I'm not sure about some of them) are all good guys. Norm is the head ref and carries all the supplies with him and takes care of the customers. He's about the nicest guy I've ever met, and goes out of his way to help you if you need it. He's got a great attitude and generally you can tell he really likes the game. Ryan is the guy who designed the field. He's a great guy as well, not to mention a hell of a paintball player. It's never quite the same when he's not there. Bruce is a really stickler for safety and one of the best refs I've ever seen. Anytime I needed a paintcheck or needed a rule enforced he was right there. He'll run right across a line of fire if it means checking your back for some paint. He's a great guy and works really hard at what he does.

5. Attitude - This place is perfect for everyone. At alot of places you get hot shots and big talkers who don't do much past run their mouths. You won't see any of that at this place. It's a relaxed, but serious environment where everyone has a good time. I've never heard anyone say anything bad about the place.

Overall, it gets a 9. Once they get the rock put down, it's a ten in my book. I love it and will continue showing every weekend.
