This was my first time playing paintball. I went for a corporate team building event and it was absolutely a blast! |

We played at Splatball's Indoor playing field in Minneapolis, MN. It was easy to find right off the Huron Blvd Exit right in the Twin Cities. |

As I said above, this was my first time playing paintball, and I'm completely hooked! Splatball has a great indoor playing field with really cool inflatable bunkers to hide behind. The refs were all really friendly and helped my entire corporate group out a ton - only one of us had ever played before.
The facility was very clean, and the ladies in our group even said the bathroom was clean - I didn't expect that from a paintball place, but Splatball does a good job of keeping things clean! The field was also clean - even from paint! I asked the ref and he said that they clean it after each group so that when you arrive it isn't covered in paint or saw dust or anything like that - I thought that was just showing that they go the extra mile!
When I heard we were not starting until 9pm because we had a dinner before I was surprised that they were still open, but I found out later that they are open 24/7 for reservation games!
They equipment worked perfectly the whole night, and I even got to rent a coverall (like mechanics wear) so at the end of the night I wasn't even dirty!
This was my first time playing and Splatball made me a believer! If you are looking for a good corporate team building event then give them a call! We haven't stopped telling stories about the games to this day!
I can't wait to play again! |

To start off the store they have is really nice but I can't really compare it to anything. The only field they have is in the basement of the store, which by the way is not the most appealing place. The field to start off with is VERY SMALL. The floors are VERY SLIPPERY from the oil from the paint and the water they use to wash the floors when the day is over. This made it difficult to go from bunker to bunker except that sliding was very easy. The ref's there are OK. The one ref actually suited up and played with us which was fun. The atmosphere was OK I guess. This is where I lose all respect for the staff. Mind you that they are very good paintball players, don't get me wrong, but this is how ON TOP of policy they are; at the end of the day I asked the ref to fill my tank up before I go. When he fills is he breaks the fill nipple and it started leaking. He was nice enough to replace for me free of charge. BUT, when he finished replacing it no gas would come out the main port and it was STILL leaking out the fill nipple. He said he would take it apart and fix it for me free of charge and for me to come back next week to pick it up. I come back and it's still NOT DONE. I tell them to call me as soon as possible so I can know how long this will take. That night the airsmith calls me and says it's a dead tank. I told him it was working great all day then on the last fill it had problems right after he filled it. I told him the ref said that he would fix it for me. He said it would cost me money for that and I said that he said it would be free of charge. He then says that he didn't have the authority to do that. I then tell him that he said he would fix it and I could pick it up today but it wasn't done. He asked who told me he would fix it and I said the ref. The airsmith said he was the ONLY ONE who was authorized to work with air tanks, NOT THE REFS!! He then told me he would ship it to the manufacturer to get it replaced, and that he was going to charge me for THAT. After 10 more minutes of talking with him he agreed to ship it free of charge. It's been now a month since this and I STILL DON'T HAVE IT BACK! I'm sorry if you are loyal to this field but they really need to step up on their service. Highest rating I would give it is a 2 out of 10. |

My first time playing paintball at a public place was here at sbi. I walked in and there was a pro shop and downstairs there was the feild. It is small and dark wich made it extremly hard to see with my 20/20`s the floors where cement and weird shaped and they were very wet. It was very expensive to play here and I wouldnt mind paying that much if it was a good field. Defiantly wont go here again! |

This place is very expensive. I have played at both locations when I was visiting family. The outdoor one in Rogers and the fields there are nice with turf (All Sppedball). The indoor one in Minniapolis is terrible. There is water on the ground from when they wash it down after there done which makes you slip, the floor is concret, not much room to run and there is only one field in the BASMENT. They make you pay 15$ for bringing in paint and the refs arn't that good. If you are new to paintball I wouldn't suggest you go there right away until you are more expirienced because there are a lot of really good people who are on teams there. If you do go, go to the outdoor one. |

Splatballs indoor field is where I started playing. It's not the best out there.
ATMOSPHERE/REFS: I gotta say that the field owner is a great guy; very 'family friendly'. A couple of the refs are also great. However, the majority of them are fairly lazy and are just making sure they don't get hit by a stray paintball. I called for a paintcheck and they just said (standing from behind a protective net)
"I heard it, your out"
Just as a warning to anyone who is new to speedball; this is a very competitive place. They have expert players there. The good news about this is that you are FORCED to get better. (open games are usually jam packed during the winter; due to the fact that its a small field this can be suicide)
FIELD: Meh... the floor is concrete and usually slippery, and lighting is decent. Don't plan on running full speed here. It is good for bunker slides though...
SAFETY: I would say that OVERALL, splatball is strict on safety. Here's a short story; I took a friend, his first game he took off his goggles after being hit on them. THOSE LAZY REFS WENT RIGHT INTO ACTION!!! They were calling 'game over, game over!', shielding the player w/ their bodies from any paintballs. They reacted quickly, and handled what could have been a disastrous situation, quite well. The 'newb' was not allowed to play for the rest of the time.
Overall, splatball is a little lower than an average field. I'd give it a 5 out of 10.

I have been to this feild twice. Unfortunately On my second time I didn't have a good experience. Fist of all this field is pretty expensive, which I didn't like. The thing I hated the most was the hospitality of the people their. for example, I went out on a sunday afternoon with some friends to play paintball. The day was goin allright and I was having a lot of fun. Just after we got done resting we headed out into the speedball field. The game starts and our team knocks out all but one of thier players. So we're closing in on the last player and I took a shot and accidentally hit a player on my team in the back. I was a good 75 yards away from him so it couldn't have hurt that bad. First thing he does is turn around and starts yelling away at me and threatens to shoot me with his gun. So we get back into the staging area and he still won't leave me alone, though I had apologized several times. Soon everyone in the staging area is making fun of my stupdity and yelling at me right in front of the ref who said absolutely nothing. Then a 40 year old guy who was there with his two sons joins in and starts making fun of me. I found this rude and un-welcoming. I will never come back to splatball again! I would not at all recomend this field to begginners or anyone. |

They have a new field out in Rogers north of Minneapolis at a former golfing range. |
 |
| Review: |
Ok this is an updated review because of Splatball's new Rogers outdoor field in Rogers that i just went to for their grand opening. Ok, two words... Freakin awesome.
This new field they built in on a former golfing range, so it has turf, nets, and everything all setup. Its super clean and the location is right next to a stripmall, super target and fast food restaurants! I mean how cool is that, you don't have to drive out into the boonies to play paintball now.
The new field is great because they have it set up like regulation Xball and NPPL, it has two fields that are full regulation size. Its like freakin ESPN and the World Cup tournies man. For real, this is the best outdoor field I've seen in Minnesota. FSL was good back in the day, but they don't have turf - from I remember it was woodchips. But Splatball's new field uses astroturf like in the tournies. Its freakin great.
10 out of 10 for the new field.
The prices tho for the paint have increased in price, which in my opinion is kind of steep. I think its like $75 per case now for any kind of paint. They still have the bring your own paint fee, which is $15 i think. So in that respect its ok. They also have all you can use compressed air included in the green fee. Their proshop is the same, same prices.
8 out of 10 for their paint and proshop.
The refs that they have there that day were kind of noobish, they just sat around. I think it was because they were working all day setting up the field and were tired, but in the future they should be better. The refs need to be up and about moving, there was this one time when all of us were yelling to paintcheck a player and the ref just stood their like.. uh wth... lol. So yeah work on that. They also didn't organize teams very well, they just said you and you on a team. blah blah.
6 out of 10 for the refs.
Recommendations for the field: You guys should try and serve food. Your facility is big enough to do that. You could make money selling pizzas or hot dogs. Stuff like that. Also there is a minigolf course which I think they'll set up. Lol, from the previous owners haha. The air was also leaking out of the bunkers, so they needed to frequently add air back, but I think this is fixable.
Conclusion, for real Splatball did a good job with this field. I've been a local in Minnesota paintballing since the mid 1990s, haven't been this impressed since SC village. Now I'm in new york, but when I come back to play in Minnesota, I'll for sure come to Splatball for a few hours. |

unfortunately one of the downsides to living in minnesota is that you canot play paintball outdoors in the winter so it kind of limits where you go as far as indoor places go. I went to splatball all last winter and ive never felt my wallet bleed so much. splatballs indoor fields are probably the worst fields ive ever played at. my friends and i built a better field in a field by my house in the summer. first, the floor is cement. what else is there to say. also the setup looks like it was whipped together in 30 seconds tops it is totally uneven . the refs however, are probably the only cool part about the field and store. and the prices. people talk about how great it is to get a case of big ball for 51 bucks with a season pass, they retail for 40!! also, they charge you by the airfill!! you pay 25 bucks to get in and use the field and still have to pay for air fills . and you pay like $4.50 an airfill. without a season pass a case of SHRAPNEL is 90 dollars if you buy from the field! lets calculate it. 3 air fills + 1 case shrapnel + entry = $118! even if you dont buy from the field and get it before the shop closes, you still pay over 75 dollars because you get stuck with the byop fee!! and when i went and bought shrapnel it was always dimpled! my advice is to go to saint croix paintball supply's fields in baldwin. entry is $15 a case of the cheapest paint is $35 and air is FREE. did i mention there are 2 sup'airball fields a hyperball field a woodsball field and a trench field. also, the people are friendly. my friends and i play and the owner of scp coaches us sometimes. you dont get that from splatball. also, i bought a tank from splatball on 12/26/04 for $225 expecting that it would work fine for the price. when i brought it home and looked at it again, and the manufacture date was 6/03. it was a year and a half old!! so i brought it back and tried to exchange it for a new one and the owner had the nerve to tell me that he didnt trust me!! he told me he didnt know how the tank would have gotten sold if it were that old and in that condition and didnt refund me but he did give me half off the hydrotest charge. HOW NICE, he didnt want to lose money on a bad deal on his part so he gave me $15 off the hydrotest and shipping. the tank still leaks and the recharge rate is horrible. but wait! theres more! they make you buy a warranty with guns so if it gets screwed up and you dont have a warranty, you have to pay to fix it. at scp its a lifetime warranty parts and labor. i havent been there since they ripped me off. if i were the reader. i wouldnt go here. ever. |

Splatball has some of the best people working there that I have ever met. Jeff and Todd have always taken the time to explain to the pros and cons of every part and add on I have ever purchased. The Pro shop is well stocked and if I ever had to order anything they always called me to let me know what is going on with the order.
The Indoor paintball field is small, but well looked after. Playing at other fields with dirt/woodchip floors it took a lot of time to clean every piece of gear I took their. At Splatballs indoor the floors were always clean. Peolple who say the flow was wet is hard to believe because they use squeegees to dry the floors. Even when not a member I NEVER paid $140 dollars for a case of paint. NEVER!!!!!!!!
Memberships can pay for themselves in as little as 3 outings to the fields.
On to where Splatball really shines. There outdoor fields. The property is huge. The lower fields have a large bush ball feild where they hold thier big games and thier sup air field. Up top they have the rec ball fields. Jokers Wild is a nice little field with little bunkers that look like playing cards, and some nice natural cover. It is in my mind the fastest of thier rec fields.
Outback is a Huge bushball field. You can almost get lost in it. A great sneak and shoot field.
Sherwood Forest is a great semi-open natural bunker (with the exception of a handfull of wooden pallets) bush field.
The one I liked the best was King Arthurs Court. It is a nice size field, with a steep one side shallow other side hill, with very stratigic bunkers and ambush trials. Lots of fallen logs and natural bunkers to use to your advantage.
All in all Splatball is a great paintball outfit, yeah thier video is a little B_Movieish but remember it is there for your safety.
One final thought. Remember for most of us this is just a game. Be safe, be nice and have fun. There is always room for pros and newplayers to have fun together.

Havn't actually played here but the retail store is really nice. They have everything I need especially for a my spyder marker. It's in a decent location so I stop there constantly for supplies and equipments. I found a Stiffi carbon fiber barrel there for only $79.99 (cheaper than online FYI) so I bought it on the spot! Great shop, great customer service, and j/w do they have like fifty different people working there? I think it's mom & pops shop owners...? Anywho I give it a ten because it's the only paintball shop near my place, good service, & especially products. They just need more LPC varieties that's it. |
