Review: Our team has been shooting for about three years now.. Last year, we found this little jewel hidden in the trees between St. Jo and Sidney.

First off, the owner Jake and all of the staff are great!! Everyone at the field is helpful and friendly.. They make the effort to make you feel like a part of the family and not a customer.. If you don't have your own gear, rental prices are reasonable.. It is field only paint, but Jake lets you reuse paint bought at the field from other open game days.. The paint prices are reasonable.. A few dollars more for a case than at the Walsmart.. And it is good, quality paint!!!!!!

The Field itself is a beautiful mix of thick bush, open spaces, small and large trees, and little ravines set against the Salt Fork River... There are three bases to defend and a bridge for some interesting assault games... Jake likes to keep the woods natural and uncluttered, so beware the dirt mounds and foxholes littered throughout the woods.... Also, during the summer months, SFP does speedball...

Last and certainly not least... SAFETY!!!! Jake and the rest of the staff make safety number one!!!!!!

Overall this is a great field for everyone from the first time shooter to the experienced woodsball team.. A Family owned and operated field that makes every effort to provide you with a great woods ball experience!!!!

Thank again SFP!!!!!

I have seen Level X, and have heard SaltFork is better. I have played at my house, and one about a mile east of mine, both in the area with a similar setup as saltfork, wooded area with the salt fork in there somewhere.

Review: You cant beat this place. I have been there twice, and both times were the greatest paint ball experiences of my life. The first time I went he only had like 10 guns to rent, and only like 15 people were there. It was awesome, we played a couple quick games, and then did an Island game that took about 2 1/2 hours.

I come back about a year later and theres a huge shed set up with about a hundred markers to rent, and probably about 60 people. Jake and the refs are great, this place has grown and its going to keep getting better. When I was there June 9th they had a deal on the field balls, some were broken so they were selling 500 for $5, best deal ever. Only a couple were broken, and the other 498 worked fine. He also has camouflage military jackets for sale, very nice, for $15 each, you can't beat that with a stick.

I can't wait until the next open game, and the Big Game July 21st.

Review: I've been to Saltfork Paintball many times, and every time is a blast. The prices are cheap, and there are different rental packages. Jake (the owner) has around 120-130 guns to rent out, and he fills Co2 and Compressed Air tanks. Jake and and his staff are a great bunch of people. They will help you as much as they can, and they are fun to be around. Jake puts a lot of emphasis on safety, which is just common sense. Saltfork Paintball has 2 speedball courses and woodsball. Simply put, the woodsball area is HUGE. Jake does tons of different scenarios, so it never gets old.

I've talked with Jake about what he plans to do with his field in the future, and SF is only going to get better. A few months ago he bought 35 more acres, and he has tons of stuff planned for SF.

The only negative of SF is that is is somewhat unorganized. Jake is a laid-back kinda guy, and he has so many people playing that it takes a while to start the games. SF usually gets 40-60 people easy playing on open game days. About a month ago, he had 130 or 140 people from the U of I playing.

SF is an amazing place to play. It's cheap, it's tons of fun, and there's also cheap food (what more can a guy ask for?). I highly recommend playing at Saltfork Paintball every chance you get. I know I'm going to.

Only ones back in Florida, and too long ago to really count for anything... But for what it's worth, SaltFork is a pretty nice field.
Review: Safety: All guns now require tip covers and must be pointed down when not in the field. They also chrono everyone. Masks on at all times in the fields. All in all, they have pretty strict rules about safety, and Jake (the owner) will call you on safety issues. This is both great and annoying -- great because they care about safety; annoying because it can sometimes take a little long to get organized when there is a huge group of new players (e.g. chronoing and adjusting speeds; though it just goes to show you how big a group they can get at this field).

Fields: They have a great woodsball field (very big and lots of good places to bunker up). Next to the main gathering area is a smaller field they also use for speedball. The field is really nice, and almost always generates large crowds -- regardless of weather. And the players are almost always friendly and honest (i.e. no wipers that I've seen). Everyone seems to have a good attitude and a good time. I once played in freezing rain, and there was still a good group wanting to play. If you like woodsball, this is definitely a great place. There are lots of good scenarios that they play. There is also a target practicing area. Once they're open, they will keep games going for as long as there are players wanting to play.

Prices: Pretty good rental prices starting at $25.00 (you get a complete Tippman 98 set and 500 rounds of paint; free compressed air refills, though they also have CO2). And don't worry -- you won't be renting a crap gun. Paint is $12 for 500 or $40 for 2,000. They also have premium paint and premium rentals (BT-4 and A-5) for a higher price. Field fee is $5 if you have your own gun. I believe they are soon going to have BYOP passes, if not already. But given their prices on the paint and what you can get on the market, I really don't think it makes all that much of a difference. From what I've heard, these are very good prices, especially compared to the nearby fields.

Staff/Refs: They are a great bunch of folks. I think Jake and his dad run the place, and they really do a good job of running the show.

From UIUC, I recommend just taking High Cross / 130 / 1600E all the way to Country Road 1100 N (there is a big sign that says "tourist info" before you get to 1100N), and then take that road East to the place.
Review: Great place to play woodsball!

Jake was really cool and we had a great time. The first time we were playing in freezing rain and all the rental equipment worked great! They have hot dogs that looked very good (though I didn't try any myself) and the other refs were really cool. Everybody there was nice.

Another time we had two teams and alternated defending/attacking an "island"
That was awsome!

Jake has 98c's, bt-4's and even A-5's to rent.

Good times!

Review: Great place to play. The owner Jake is a real stand up guy. The prices are very reasonable, in fact it's quite cheap. You can bring your own paint which is a huge plus for me. The regulars at this field are a good bunch of guys and very friendly. The drinks and food are cheap. Everyone there is very helpful from the staff to the players, the atmosphere there is great. A must for anyone who enjoys woodsball.

Review: This was my first time paintballing, and it was a lot of fun. It is right along the Salt Fork River which makes for some great terrain. The staff was helpful for us newbies, and the players there were also a lot of fun to play with. They rent Tippmann 98s which are great. With the bruises still healing, I am eager to go out there again and see if paintball is something I want to get into as a new sport. It was definitely a great time!

Review: This place is awesome. Jake (the owner) is really professional and he works hard to make sure everyone is having a great time. The refs and the rest of the staff are also friendly and helpful. There is one huge field and we play anything from quick center flag games on a shortened field to long complex scenario games on the whole field. He has open games around once or twice a month or you can reserve a game for a group. The prices are AMAZING it's free to play and you can bring your own paint, which I wouldn't recommend because Jake now sells PMI Premiums and PMI Marballizers (two high quality paintballs) for cheap. The field sells paintball guns, tanks, masks and other paintball products that you need to get started in the sport. The field also sells a lot of food so you won't go hungry while trying to play some paintball. I go to saltfork for every open game and I have just as much fun now as i did the first time i ever went. So basically saltfork is one of the best and most fun paintball fields there is.

Review: Salt fork paintball is one of the greatest fields that I have been to in a long time. There is never much down time between games. Jake and his GREAT employees and Refs. do a great job of keeping things under control and constantly moving. The field is huge and has alot of cover. There are always new surprises when you go on the field things are moved around to keep things exciting and different. I know that Jake has a few new ideas for the field this summer so keep your eyes out for new objects and scenarios at the field this summer. You must come and check this field out!!!

Review: First of all I want to say this was a GREAT experience. Everything you read is true on the other reviews. I visited because I have in-laws in Champaign and went with my bro-in-law. We played for 7 hours straight and I think close to 10 games that day. They constantly had a game going if you wanted to play. It was a open day and I think that interest is growing in the area because we had 40-45 people on the field. Its a large field and they use every part of it. Jake and his father are class act people. They have good help in their refs also. Good attitudes by all. I will be visting again and I have some friends that want to go with me next time. We will be driving from IA to visit this field(4 hours).
