Splatters Paintball - In my opinion Xrossfire is superior to Splatters in pretty much every aspect. Service, field layout, rental gun quality, etc. The only pluses I can think of for Splatters is that it's a bit cheaper and it has a larger speedball following.
Xrossfire is by far my favorite field to play on... Currently they have 3 fields, an speedball field, a large and very well setup woodsball field, and everybody's favorite.... The bridge assualt field.
Speed Ball Field
A nice speedball field with netting around most of it.
This is where Xrossfire really starts to shine. It is a fairly large field with alternating brush and clearings that provides a good amount of variety of play... it's open enough that you can see a large assualt coming your way but with enough brush to make it possible to sneak up on someone and provide him with a nice paintball welt on his butt. :)
Bridge Assualt Field
This is the field your friends will be talking about and the end of the day (and many days afterwards). The field is on a mid-sized creek bend with a raised earth and wooden bank on the defending side (aka Excellent Defensive fortifications) and a gradually rising bank on the assualt side with light woods and several bunkers. I can tell you from experience that it is nearly impossible to take the bridge without some strategic use of covering fire and runners.
This Field is great at forcing a team to use their heads instead of just another run-and-gun elimination game.
Service & Staff
One Word.... EXCELLENT. The owners Sheldon and Candace are excellent hosts who are very nice and will joke around with you... unless, of course, you don't follow the rules and safety procedures... They are very serious about the rules, if you don't like that, tough.
The equipment is always clean and ready everytime I've went there... no dried paint in the barrel or on your mask etc.
Xrossfire rents high quality Tippman Custom 98's and good masks. Custom 98's have a reputation for being reliable for good reason... these guns are cheap, fairly accurate and tough as nails (aka an excellent rental gun)
The regular players that I have met seem to be of the slightly older and more mature variety. They emphasize having fun and playing fair instead of the standard "If they didn't see you get hit, it doesn't count" philosophy.
Xrossfire is excellent field... in fact I would go so far as saying it's the best field in the area. The only negatives I can think of for Xrossfire is that the field has yet to reach it's full potential... There is still a lot of bushland and riverfront areas that haven't been developed.
Fortunately, after talking to the field owner, Sheldon, it sounds as if this is going to change. He is looking to develop Xrossfire into a scenario field with regular scenario games.
Bottom line - book an appointment and check it out for yourself! It's money well spent
