Review: It's closed, but the Headrush in syracuse is open and expanding! They just got a new x-ball field.

http://www.headrush.com/

Their website has all the info, and will tell you the tournaments coming up!
They have a $70 million dollar expansion that will be done by next summer(08).

Review: Overall, I was not impressed. For one, the field and the bunkers are extremely small, and the carpet flooring was slippery and saturated in paint. Bunkers weren't tied down and a few were falling over during play. The field obviously hadn't been properly cleaned in a while. The big issue wasn't so much the field though. The tourney was supposed to start at 11:00 with the captains meeting at 10:30. The doors opened with one staff member at 9:45 (Most fields are open by 8 for a morning tourney).10:30 rolls around, myself and my guys are ready to play... most of the staff still wasn't there, and the field hasn't even been touched. 11:00 rolls around, still no start in sight... finally at 11:30, the kids start to get things ready, but it takes about 45min because they're too busy screwing around like 5 year olds. We had about 10min to look at the finished field. The tourney finally started at 12:15... 9 teams, approx 78 games in the tourney if you count the finals... instead of the usual 1-2min between games, the kids (refs) screwed around for anywhere from 5-10min between games. During the games, the refs stood on the sidelines, refused to get into the games, and basically were just spectators. Finally at 3:00, after all the screwing around, and two 20min ref breaks, the finals started. Unfortunately, since the event should have been done by 2 at the latest, we had to head home for work after only one game of the finals. I also had a problem with the rules and safety practices (refs won't check an opposing player, there's no such thing as overshooting, hopper shots aren't obvious hits, refs and players only wear their masks when the game is actually on, no swearing...unless you're a ref, ect ect). The whole day was frustrating.

This place has the possibility of being a great field. The staff really needs to get their heads on their shoulders and run the place like a real paintball field, not a hometown hangout (unless that's what it's supposed to be). Before we started, the manager bragged up the field and refs about how many compliments they got at a previous event... I'm sorry, I can't agree. It may have just been a bad day, but it was an extremely poorly run event, and unless things start to mature a bit, I can't picture my team making the drive to return.
I'd give it a 1, but the manager was a decent guy. I'm sure things can improve so I'll give it a 3.
You can dispute it, but I stick by my opinion.

Review: The place was great. This was the used to be Pro Paintball. They have improved a ton! The field is much better there are more bunkers and the ref's always clean the field so you arent always slipping and slidin'. The people are extremely friendly and they have some good bussiness considerin they are fairly new. My only bad comments, yet very small they are, was the refs sometimes not checking you for paint when you asked and the shop (Gun wise) didnt have too much on the shelf. Besides that though i love the place!

Review: headrush is a good place to play. they have all skill level players there and the workers there are really nice. the guy that works up in the shop gives my discounts once in a while and ive played there like only 5 times (i also played there wen it was pro paintball) under the new management. the only weakness of this field is tht it is a little bit small. there isnt a whole lot of room to play in and right now they dont have many bunkers either. but once they get more bunkers it will be a whole lot better. at this one u can even bring ur own paint every friday and on some holidays(the main reason i go there). once the workers get to know you sometimes they will let u get a free mask rental or something here and there if u forget urs. i know thts not tht big but after a while it adds up. now they are having their first tourney in rochester on sunday Jan 29, free team entry and $55 a case of paint. they also have a pretty wide selection of parts in the pro shop. i recommend giving their shop a try if u havent already been there.

overall i would give it a 10 but since the field is so small it gets a 9.

EDIT:headrush if now closing the store. they only have the field now but have a few parts at the field. kinda like how propaintball was before hr moved in
