This is a great paintball site, and is the best I have visited so far. While it can't boast a huge number of different arenas (about 6 at present), it provides an exciting, tactical, and all round brilliant experience.
The arenas are huge, and completely open ended. While many sites often force you down a certain way, forcing you to attack from the front, Camouflage Paintball leaves the choice up to you. Will you attack from the front, or sneak round the back? Will you flank the enemy, or charge them?
You are left free to creep through the forest and dense undergrowth to reach your destination. This is something that most sites seem to overlook when they are designed.
The fort game is truly nerve-racking experience. A group of players (often around 30 in number, but could be as many as 50 on each side) are holed up in a fort, Alamo-style. Hiding behind the barricades, they stare out into the forest, attempting to spot their enemy. For half an hour, the enemy dart around, trading fire with the defenders, slowly picking them off one by one. They move closer, diving behind sandbags and trees, steadily gaining ground. Occasionally, an attacker will attempt to breach the fort's defences and run for the objective hut in the middle.
It's games like this that make this place so special.
Other games include capturing the flag from the village, which involves huts and a large, two-story tower; attack the hill, where the attackers attack a large hill from all sides, fighting through defenders holed up in trenches and bunkers; a fast-paced speedball arena; a king-of-the-hill game, where two teams own an outpost on each side of the hill with a large wood in between the, and attempt to take control of the other side’s outpost; and a hell’s highway game, where the two teams own an outpost close to one another, and the only way to the other outpost is through a narrow alleyway. All these games lead to all sorts of heroism. The tactical gameplay available to players is amazing, and truly heightens the sense of fun.
On top of this, awards are handed out for the most heroic or down-right stupid actions, and can be earned by charging dug-in opponents, for completing objectives, for proving to the marshals that you’re a true team player or even for having the worst injury. These awards result in special offers such as being able to come free the next time you visit Camouflage Paintball or getting free paintballs, at either of their sites. This really adds to the competitive spirit of paintballing.
On top of this, visitors have the opportunity to be crowned the "ultimate warrior" of the day, if they’re good enough. Being awarded this gives you automatic, free gold membership, which gives you some great prizes such as being able to come every day for the rest of the year free with 100 free paintballs, and free gloves – not to mention making the platinum membership (which includes a no-mist high-quality mask with an inbuilt fan) far cheaper. This award is truly worth fighting for, and “dying” for.
On top of this, the staff are amiable and friendly, and paintballs and different types of grenades are available on site. The only downside is the price, which is slightly higher than other sites, but even then it's still good value.
This is a great day out, and by far the best paintball site I have seen. I would recommend anyone to visit this site.
