Take Route 91 in York, until you come to Birch Hill Rd. Field is not far down Birch Hill Rd. Use GPS.
Played at this field a few times this summer. Great staff, everyone is helpful and they go out of there way to make your day awesome. The sand field is a lot of fun, many obstacles and it plays really well. Speedball field is fun too, but my favorite is the field with the old military vehicles and culverts. They have a great location for events, we had two awesome bachelor parties there this summer. Woods field is being worked on, but it plays well too. Very dedicated staff that care about the sport. Well worth a try.
I've been playing paintball for a long time now, and I was in town so I decided to play at Birch Hill Paintball. First off, staff was great. Facility was kept in a pretty clean manner.
I cant comment on the woods field seeings how I didn't play it, however I did walk it and seemed pretty fun if that's what you'd be interested in. I did however play the 2007 NPPL Super7 field and it was very fun. The "regulars" are easy to play with and mix up teams well so it's fair.
I went a few times on a Sunday, and it was good to see that other teams are coming to practice, makes it pretty competitive.
Birch Hill takes saftey very serious as they stress the use of barrel condoms outside the playing area & masks to be worn while in playing area.
CONs: I would like to see the 2nd UltimateAir field completed, just for a change of a pace & for drills. Once they can complete the Ultimate Air field, and finish the fields that are going up in the front section it will be an amazing place to play.
we often play at www.osgpaintball.com but wanted to try a closer field - so we thought we'd give birtch hill a try. Osg has always been great so perhaps we had high expectations, their fields are amazing and their staff are great too.
SO we arrive at birtch hill at 08.30 in time to start at 9am like it says on the website. At 09.45 a guy turns up and storm into the hut. We notcie that there are no refs and after talking to a few players there - they don't have them at w/es unless its a party or something. Also we were told - and there website backs this up that birtch hill alow BYOP they don't!! unless your a regsterd tournement team. so we left.
ALthough I can't comment on all their fields - the two by the parking lot were under inflated, the staff didnt turn up on time. They are more expensive than most local fields. Safety - its a free for all. I wouldn't risk it if your not a regular player. Stick to the fields you know. I have heard good things about birtch hill so maybe it was an off day (although regulars confirmed its always like this). If you want to use them book a party - its safer.
I hope they change how they are run, its a near by field with good equipment, its a shame to see it go to waste.
However if your a very relaxed player who doesnt really care too much about safety and your experience and just like to chill out im sure this would be a good field for you.

Played all over maine, and this is deffinatly maines best field. a nice relaxed atmosphere that still keeps saftey in mind. 3 full feilds, two 5 mans and one full x-ball field, they're all fun to rock out on during the season we practice here once a week, its a great place
This place is AMAZING. The first time I played here i was ten and it was my first time playing paintball. I was at a birthday party (which are excelent but can be pricey $300+) and my mom was freakin' out. She still signed the waiver and the went home. The guy that was reffing us (yes they have refs pronewbie) gave us the rundown on masks and all the other saftey stuff. He grouped us up with another birthday and we had a blast. Period. The fields are grass, the refs are great, and everyone who plays there is wicked nice. John Lidston (owner) is the nicest guy ever. He comes down a lot and he's really, REALLY, good. He coached my football team and he allows NO punks. You cuss once, you get warned, twice, you're off the field.
All in all this place is the best. If you live in or visit maine, go, I'm telling you. It's cheap and it's great!
I went to Birch Hill hoping to play some speed ball and have some fun with some friends. So we got there and got all set up. To put it simply I feared for my life. Ohh where to start, well we went down in a big group, and had gone down with a local team that we know, so we go in to fill out "waivers" which were these print out forms that they scribled in there name "Birch Hill Paintball" then the guy in the shop, who had aweful customer service, checks our tanks out and then completely ignores us the rest of the day even when we asked about prices. (Hello, wouldn't you tell people prices, since they are interested in the item.) But after filling our own tanks and chronoing up to 300 or less, then fixing my friends marker, we go to get in on a game, we're all looking around like hey where are the refs, to answer that simply there are none. So we stand around while abunch of usuals hogged the fields, we finally figure out if you want to play you have to force your way in. But once we got some games going with some people and wedged our way in, it was alright, it was speedball, so I was happy. But safety is non-existant here, no refs, people running around without masks on, no one used barrel plug or condoms (they thought pods and squegees were perfectly fine) firing in the setup area with out a BBD, and some nets having huge holes in them while people were walking around outside of that general area. So them having speedball is cool, but they fail at everything else.

This place is great i have nvr been 2 a nvr field but i don't need 2 look, it is great and has great prices, quality fields, and have great service. They r very nice and r very helpful, they can help u with gun trouble or anything, the refs r great. I don't think i will ever play ne where else unless they close or i'm on vacation. I only live 5 min. away so... i recommend tryin this place atleast once. u won't regret playin ther with paint 15$ a bag 55$ a case and 15$ field fee and 10$ air all day, not bad open 2 days a week sun. and sat. and they r open 9-4 not bad
planet paintball- way more expensive
I dont even bother goign to other fields, this one has such good prices and has great fields.
This is a great field it only costs 20 dollars for feild fee and all day air. Paint is usually only around 40 dollars a case and is good quality. they have 5 airball fields, a woodsfield, and a hyperball fort for attack and defend games. This is the best field around if you want quality fields and great prices.
Dont know this was probably the best available in the state, ( I was on vacation)
Well me and my brother play at Extreme Rage in Ft.myers, Florida and we came up to the York area for vacation and wanted to play some paintball we went to birch hill and were amazed how clean, organized, and professionally done everything was. The prices were great and we were treated as if we were regulars there and played with a wide range of players and as well as a wide range of fields, thank you again for a great time and we will be back there for sure. O ya by the way their pro shop is very nice too with a wide range of equipment with everything from A to Z, thank you again for time well spent, Birch Hill paintball in my mind is the only place you should consider for paintball in the York area and probably the whole state of Maine.
Boston Paintball - Somerville, MA ... Nice indoor field, but paint prices are a little high
Fox 4 - Upton, MA ... Price is good, BYOP is always a plus, but my team had a bad experience there with some refs who were hellbent on finding trigger bounce on electros, regardless of how much.
Birch Hill is gorgeous! My team went there last weekend on a recommendation from our local shop (D&D Paintball in Danvers, MA), and they told us that a lot of NEPL teams practice up there on the weekend, and that that talent pool would run a little deeper than some of the other fields in our area.
Paint issues kept most of my team sidelined for the day (the person who was supposed to bring the paint never showed up), but I did get to try out a few of the fields. Great stuff.
What sticks with me the most about Birch Hill isn't the fields, or the pricing (which is great), or that they allow you to bring your own paint (also great - and worst case, Evil is about $65 per case, which isn't bad), but the people are quite possibly the nicest that I've met in 6 months of 'ball.
The referees and the players that we talked to that day were 100% class acts, and I'd highly recommend anyone visit the field on that reason alone.
