Directions to the Field: |
Take 290 to 355 exit at North Ave./64 and follow sign to Carol Stream. Keep left on North Ave.
I accidentally passed up Alexandra Way but found it easier to make a U-Turn at the next light, by the gas station. There is a sign that allows legal U-Turns. |

The Field Itself
Only one indoor field, the place is located in a facility shared by batting cages, basketball courts and more. The field and its bunkers were very well set up for a small place. It really never gets old. (Snake on the right is awesome) Bunker sizes are fine, I don't know if they are new since the other people complained but I thought there size is perfect. With all the paint and oil on the floor sliding is very fun and simple. Just don't hit the bunker too hard, I saw some old guy knock a 5 foot one straight to the ground! Wear dark clothing, during the week they are open afternoon/nights only, the rest of the facility closes so it gets kind of dark, this is not a bad thing, it makes the game a little more stealthy.
Staff
The guys there were cool, funny, laid back, but safe. They have one guy I remember best, he is CRAZY (I use this word a lot, it is not usually a bad thing)! He may get on your nerves at first, but he is really cool, funny and a great ref as you go on! No complaints about refs, they are cool. The place was understaffed for a while, with only 2 people. Co2 filler and desk were out of the way from the field, so after about every 2 games one guy would have to run there and let people in and fill tanks, so there was frequent breaks. These breaks made a lot of people leave, but I thought it was well timed, we needed breaks! The owner/head-honcho showed up later and was a cool guy too, he had mentioned to me and my friends that if the refs called a "break" that we could still play just be safe, you can tell he got a lot of complaints about the breaks but we told him that we did not mind. He also gave us "to-go" packages on Co2 and compressed air.
Pricing
Weekdays are BYOP for $25! But if you don't BYOP it is $15, with $50 for a case. I recommend splitting a case with a friend or something! Rentals (all the necessary stuff, with a Tippman 98 Custom) are just $5 extra! They were low on barrel plugs/socks for my friend who rented, and my cousin who forgot his, they had to remove their barrel before leaving the field. Go out and buy one for 2 bucks, it will be a lot easier!
Overall
For my second time paintballing, this place was great (I last paintballed with my cousin in Florida, Hi-Tec Paintball). I have no complaints and had a great time. The weather was terrible, huge storm, outside so the place cleared up quick, my cousin who was in from out of town, my brother, and my friend stayed late, along with 2 guys we met there. We got to play for about an hour by ourselves, plus the "crazy" ref. That was very fun.
I highly recommend this place, specifically for beginners. More experienced players or "self-proclaimed pros" will not enjoy the one small speedball field they have.
THEY ARE MOVING ACROSS THE ROAD IN A FEW MONTHS, THEY WILL HAVE UP TO 3 INDOOR FIELDS AND OVER AN ACRE OUTSIDE (i believe this is the amounts they stated) , STAY TUNED IT IS GOING TO BE GREAT!!!| Last edited on Saturday, July 28th, 2007 at 8:34 am PST |

Well I gotta say, this field has really friendly staff. Everyone was very laid back. I’ve only been to one other indoor field and that was tri-city paintball, and it was terrible. There floor consisted of tile, covered with shredded rubber (loosely, not glued down) and over time it became a sloppy mess from all the paint. It was like running in oatmeal. This field is good on that though, they use carpet, which makes for good stopping when your running and you can slide across it a good distance if you want. The downside? Rug burn.
A warning if you choose to go to this field, however. They are not big on safety at ALL. It’s nothing short of a miracle that no one was injured. No member of the staff was reminding people to put their barrel blockers back on after you left the field, and I even found myself forgetting to do it right away a couple times. They have a “Goggles On” sign as you enter the chronograph which is right by the field entrance as well, but no one was enforcing this. Almost no one had there goggles on in the chronograph and some people had them up on the field of play. I kept mine on because I like my eyes, and I tried to tell a few people to do the same. Although I did see one of the refs remind some people to put there goggles on in the field, but that was rare.
There was also a door that opened out to the street inside the chronograph area, and there must have been about ten people out there sitting in the grass; all of them without goggles on. If an accidental shot were to occur, it would have been point-blank. And again, no one was enforcing this. Even some of the staff members were right outside there.
Also (through no fault of the field, kind of) there was a PSP tournament going on in the Chicago area, and some of the players had come there to practice. They were all either shooting full auto or ramping, and most of them were shooting HOT. I don’t know who we overheard talking, but a couple of them were saying “We’re going to f*** these kids up”. And these were just little kids! They couldn’t have been more than 13-14. I may have some bad marks on me, but I know its part of the sport. I wonder how those kids’ mothers feel about the marks on them? This was worsened by the fact that no one was regulating the chronograph. They weren’t really making people chrono, as much as just letting them check what their fps was.
Although, after all is said and done, me and my friends did have a blast at this field, and we didn’t have to drive over a half an hour to get there, either. Tues and Fri are B.Y.O.P., and they sell theirs for $40 a case on those days, so I just bought theirs. They have midnight paintballs and I didn’t have one ball break inside my marker. I was using a Tippmann a-5 with a flatline. And what I though was nice was they changed up the field half-way through the night.
So, to finish up, while I did have a good time here, and no one got hurt, I really can’t give them more than a 6 because of the apparent lack of safety.
Will I go back there? probably. Its so close to my house and its cheaper than anywhere else.

Paintball Massacre is definitely a field to experience. Right now, they are a small field that is fun for recreational players looking out for a fun time with their friends. The owner and workers are very friendly, and are great people. They are looking to expand their operations to across the street. When that happens they will be able to accommodate more people with professional fields, and a large outdoor facility. Overall this field is great. |

first off the owner was a good guy, Seemed like a down home type fella.
PMA is not a 100% paintball field, it is a sports training facilty, so the volleyball players can stare at you :)
HPA was not on hand at the time of play.
They do offer BYOP which is a plus
My experience was sadly a negative one. The turf was nicer than the competetors and you could get some nice slide distance.
I could not see because of the lighting, if you wear black your invisable
The bunkers were pathetic, and the layout was auful. To small of bunkers+huge lanes=no fun. The largest bunker was a can about 5 feet tall. They resembled shotblockers used in Xball.
Get some bigger bunkers and than more will come (rumor is they will)
5/10 for now |

Paintball Blitz - About the same, but they have HPA.
Siege - Much better. Sup air bunkers and 4500psi HPA fills. |

I went to this field with two teammates to check it out. The playing surface is great - you can make crazy superman dives but at the same time stop in a single step. However, the bunkers are tiny. Put it this way - when I first saw the field in person, I thought it was a battlemax field. The tallest bunker was barely more than 4 feet tall. The layout didn't really let you do much because there were huge lanes and very small bunkers.
HPA wasn't up yet when we played there. It should be up and running soon.
When this field moves to a bigger facility in October and they get real bunkers, it will be a great place to play. |

The field is has CO2. The more players sign up on their web-site the faster they will get HPA. Go to their web-site and sign up in their guest book for a day you and some players can play. Lets rock this place. It clean, nice helpfull staff lets keep it alive. |
